Pokémon Ranger is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Dream. He was confirmed on September 15th, 2015 when Nutta was bored and no one else was online. The Pokémon Ranger is represented by Ben, the male player character from Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, and his female counterpart, Summer, appears in half of his costumes. They are joined by the ukulele-playing Pichu that serves as a partner Pokémon in their home game, who attacks for the ranger in most of the moves (like Olimar's Pikmin), as well as a number of other Pokémon that appear only for special attacks.
Attributes[edit]
The Pokémon Ranger uses moves based off of the Pokémon Ranger spin-off games in the Pokémon series- mainly Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, with some elements from previous games. Most of his moves have the Pichu attack, although some, such as his neutral attack, have the ranger himself attack. Unlike Olimar's Pikmin, Rosalina's Lumas, and Nana from the Ice Climbers, Pichu cannot be KO'd without the Ranger, and they cannot be split up. Although Ranger was near indisputedly broken upon release, the first major Balance Patch DekZek1.1 balances this character out.

DekZek Balance Patch v1.0[edit]
- Most attacks now do less damage.
- Dash attack now only hits twice instead of three times.
- Capture Styler can now only grab in a straight line.
- Poké Assist now has a different function, where all Pokémon use a form of Bubble, and Muk uses a poisonous bubble.
- It has different customs that reflect this change.
- Fly's customs are changed.
- Ukulele Melody now always creates four soundwaves that do damage.
- It has new customs, one of which, Melody of Confusion, functions more like the original move.
- Ranger Sign is changed slightly, summoning all three of the Legendary Beasts at once, who all attack together.
DekZek Balance Patch v.1.1[edit]
- Field Move's Tackle is replaced with Soak, which functions similar to Balance Patch v1.0's Poké Assist, but is always Corphish.
- Poké Assist is replaced with Assist Dash as a side special.

The Ranger lands on the stage from above with Pichu on his shoulder. Pichu jumps off and they give each other a thumbs up.

Reveal trailer[edit]
The reveal trailer opens up with two Red using Charizard to battle against Lucario in Cerulean Cave. As Charizard falls to a Shadow Ball, the Ranger's voice saying "Capture styler on!" can be heard and Red whirls around to see the Ranger and Pichu, who pose as the splash screen appears.
The rest of the trailer showcases the Ranger battling Lucario, and, eventually, Red himself. At the very end of the trailer, Mewtwo appears in front of the Ranger and laughs as the Ranger and Pichu pose readily.

- You may think that Pokémon Rangers are just like Trainers, but there are a lot of differences. It takes a lot of training to become a Ranger, and all Rangers vow to only use Pokémon to protect nature (or at least smash anyone who dares to challenge them). They constantly have a single partner Pokémon with them, who has been trained up to a high level. But what's with the ukulele?

- Pokémon Rangers use their Capture Stylers to befriend Pokémon of all shapes and sizes, and can later call on them when they need a hand! Usually, Pokémon Rangers use Field Moves when there's an obstacle in their way, but using it as an attack in a battle tournament also works. It might not follow the guidelines of the Pokémon Ranger society, but it works.

- This adorable little fella is native to Dolce Island, and entertains its Pokémon friends by performing on its ukulele. It's an invaluable partner to the Pokémon Ranger when he or she sets out to save Oblivia. In that adventure, it used its ukulele to calm Pokémon and make them more easily captured. In Smash Bros., it uses its ukulele to stun opponents before landing a powerful electric attack! ZAAAAP!

Alternate costumes[edit]
- Default - The appearance of Ben, the male player character of Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs.
- Female - The appearance of Summer, the female player character of Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs.
- Red - The color scheme resembles that of Red, the male player character of the Generation I Pokémon games and their remakes. Pichu has red cheeks, like its evolution, Pikachu, one of the Pokémon usually paired with Red.
- Cyan - The color scheme resembles that of Leaf, the female player character of the Generation III remakes of the Generation I Pokémon games. Pichu has red cheeks, like its evolution, Pikachu, one of the Pokémon usually paired with Leaf.
- Purple - Based off of Purple Eyes, the main antagonist of Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs. Pichu's colors resemble Mewtwo, who is used by Purple Eyes in the final battle.
- Blue - Based off of Blue Eyes, one of the antagonists of Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs. Pichu's colors resemble Meganium, who is used by Blue Eyes in the first battle with her.
- Yellow - Pichu's color scheme resembles that of Minun, the partner Pokémon for male player characters in the original Pokémon Ranger.
- Green - Pichu's color scheme resembles that of Plusle, the partner Pokémon for female player characters in the original Pokémon Ranger.

- The trophies for Pokémon Ranger list Pokémon Ranger and Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Altima as his first appearance, despite the fact that Ben and Summer, the basis for Pokémon Ranger's design in Super Smash Bros. 4, did not appear in those games.
