Cerulean Cave (ハナダのどうくつ, Hanada Cave) appears as a stage in Super Smash Bros. Dream. It is home to Mewtwo, Pokémon Trainer, and Pokémon Ranger. Of these, Pokémon Ranger is the only one not native to Kanto.

Layout[edit]

A crudely-drawn sketch of the layout of Cerulean Cave, featuring Pokémon Ranger for scale.

The stage takes place deep within Cerulean Cave, on a small rocky island. It is unique in the fact that it has a ceiling over the entirety of the stage, making KOs on the upper blast line impossible, and swimming water at the bottom, making KOs on the lower blast line difficult. However, the ceiling also has stalactites, which, if a fighter collides with them, do damage and knock the fighter straight down. Interestingly, this applies to every part of it, including the sides. The tips function as Danger Zones- they act like the rest of the stalactite when the fighter is below 100%, but if they hit it at 100% they will be instantly KO'd. This allows KOing without using the side blast lines.

Its competitively viable form removes the ceiling and water.

Origin[edit]

Cerulean Cave is a dungeon in Kanto that can be found in Generations I, II, and their respective remakes in Generations III and IV of the Pokémon games. In Generations I and III, it is where Mewtwo can be found and caught. The island where the battles take place in Smash resembles the island where Mewtwo can be found.
