—The Brawler's Ultimate description

The Mii Brawler (Mii格闘タイプ, Mii Hand-to-Hand Fighting Type) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. They were confirmed as playable characters on June 12th, 2018 along with the other Mii Fighter types, Swordfighter, and Gunner. Mii Brawler is classified as fighter #51.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

Aesthetics

  •   Players can customize the Mii Fighter's voice clips. Up to 12 voices are selectable.
  •   Mii Brawlers have had their body proportions adjusted.
  •   While still based off the "Guest C" Mii, the default Mii Brawler has an altered appearance. His hair is longer, and he now sports a stern expression instead of a neutral one as he did in Smash 4.
  •   The default outfits for the Mii Brawler has significantly more detail, featuring a stylized shirt with extra padding on their forearms and shins.

Attributes

  •   Like all characters, the Mii Brawler's jumpsquat animation now takes three frames to complete (down from 5).
  •   Mii Brawler dashes much faster.
  •   Mii Brawler has a faster falling speed.
  •   As with the other Mii Fighters, Mii Brawler no longer has varying sizes.
    •   This includes a set weight of 94, on par with Ness, Lucas and Inkling, making the Mii Brawler the lightest Mii Fighter.

Ground attacks

  •   Forward smash now leaves an electrical trail on the Mii Brawler's fist, and the Mii Brawler no longer flexes during its ending animation.
    •   Because of this, the move has significantly less endlag.

Aerial attacks

Special Moves

Shot Put:

  •   Shot Put has less endlag.

Onslaught

  •   Onslaught has a different animation, with the Mii also attacking the opponent with their fists, before finishing it off with a upward kick.
  •   Onslaught deals more damage and its second to last hit is now a meteor smash that drags opponents to the ground. This allows the entire move to connect more consistently at higher percents.

Suplex:

  •   This move, a command grab, now replaces Headache Maker.
    •   Suplex covers more horizontal distance and goes through shields, due to it being a grab.
    •   If done in the air, Suplex can be used as a sacrificial KO, although this KOs the Mii Brawler first.

Soaring Axe Kick:

  •   Soaring Axe Kick's animation has been altered, and is performed significantly faster.
    •   The descending part of the move now has to be initiated manually, similar to Cloud's Climhazzard. This makes the move significantly more useful for recovery.

Head-On Assault:

  •   Head-On Assault is performed quicker.
  •   Head-On Assault now has a different ending animation that looks more fluid.
  •   The move no longer buries opponents. Instead, it launches opponents upwards.

Burning Dropkick

  •   Can no longer be charged, and now launches for a fixed distance after a brief pause, vastly reducing both its recovery range and its utility for mindgames.

Feint Jump:

  •   The kick attack used during Feint Jump sends the Mii Brawler flying at a more downward angle. Additionally, the kick now surrounds itself in a blue aura instead of purple.
    •   The kick can now meteor smash opponents.

Other special moves:

  •   Helicopter Kick travels significantly higher when used on the ground.
  •   The Mii Brawler has a new up special called Thrust Uppercut. It consists of a flaming uppercut with an explosion at the end, dealing five hits in total. The Mii Brawler switches their hands for the final hit. This move replaces Piston Punch.
  •   Ultimate Uppercut has been replaced by Flashing Mach Punch, a multi-hitting series of fast punches
  •   The Mii Brawler now has a counterattack known as Counter Throw. After being hit, the Mii Brawler will grab the opponent before throwing the victim on the ground behind them. This move replaces Foot Flurry.

Final Smash:

  •   Omega Blitz now has the Mii Brawler stay in one place while throwing a barrage of punches and kicks after dragging the opponent upward, the initial attack is now an upwards-arcing heel kick, and the Final Smash finishes with a downward punch rather than a chop.

Moveset

  Name Damage Description
Neutral attack   1.7% Two punches followed by a barrage of rapid punches with one arm, ending with a side kick.
1%
0.5% (6 per loop), 3% (end)
Forward tilt   8.5% (body), 7.5% (leg) A single roundhouse kick, similar to Mario's. Can be angled.
8% (body), 7% (leg)
8.3% (body), 7.3% (leg)
Up tilt   6% Punches with an uppercut, similar to Mario's up tilt, though it does not spin the Mii around. Can juggle at low percentages. The hitbox stays at the Mii's fist, which means it cannot hit opponents behind them.
Down tilt   8% Sweep kick along the ground. Pops opponents into the air, allowing it to combo into tilts at low percents and aerials at medium percents.
Dash attack   13.9% (clean), 6% (late) Dropkicks forward, similarly to Fox's dash attack.
Forward smash   18% A strong, straight punch. The move now possess an electrical trail on the Brawler's fist, and the Brawler no longer flexes after the move ends, significantly decreasing its ending lag.
Up smash   14% (clean), 10% (late) A flip kick, similar to Fox's up smash. Wide coverage, with the later hitboxes dealing less damage behind the Mii Fighter. Combos from down tilt and up tilt at low percents.
Down smash   13% Punches forwards and kicks backwards simultaneously, with the kick dealing more knockback.
Neutral aerial   10% (clean), 5% (late) A sex kick much like Mario's neutral aerial. The move now has a slight downward pull when using the move.
Forward aerial   4% (hit 1), 5% (hit 2) Two spin kicks; similar to Zero Suit Samus' forward aerial. The Brawler's main combo tool, which can combo into itself or after throws. The first hit sends at the autolink angle, allowing it to drag opponents down onto the stage, and can initiate combos into smash attacks and aerials at low to mid-percents.
Back aerial   10% A single swinging back kick. Although it KOs at 158% at the ledge, its speed and semi-spike angle allows it to function as a good edgeguarding or offstage KO tool. Auto-cancels from a short hop.
Up aerial   8% Swipes foot above his/her head in an arc. Juggles well due to its low knockback and wide range. Auto-cancels from a short-hop.
Down aerial   13% (clean), 12% (late) Swings both fists beneath himself/herself in a double axe handle, similarly to Diddy Kong's down aerial. The Mii's strongest aerial and most reliable meteor smash, though it KOs at 132% onstage. Auto-cancels if used near the peak of a full hop.
Grab
Pummel   3.25% Headbutts the enemy.
Forward throw   9% Hits the enemy with a backhand. The Brawler's strongest throw, though it fails to KO till above 190% near the edge. Sends at a semi-spike angle, allowing it to set up an edgeguard.
Back throw   2% (hit 1), 5% (throw) Kicks the enemy away behind themself. Similar knockback angle as forward throw, but slightly weaker.
Up throw   8% Knocks the enemy up with a palm strike. Can combo into up aerial on heavier characters, but this quickly loses effectiveness.
Down throw   7.6% Chops the enemy into the ground. Can be a good setup for combos or even Thrust Uppercut due to its mainly-vertical diagonal knockback.

5% Gets up and kicks both sides.
Edge attack

  7% A low karate chop.
Neutral special Default Shot Put 15% (throw), 11% (bounce 1), 8% (bounce 2) An shot is thrown into the air as an arcing projectile. Bounces twice upon landing, which deals lower damage with each bounce; if it misses, the shot travels a set distance before disappearing. Very damaging and strong for an unchargeable projectile.
Custom 1 Flashing Mach Punch 0.3% (loop hits), 9.5% (final hit) A series of lightning fast punches, ending with an uppercut. It is escapable in mid to high percents.
Custom 2 Exploding Side Kick 25%/23% (ground), 27%/25% (ground reverse), 21.25%/19.55% (air), 22.95%/21.25% (air reverse) Charges up for about a second before unleashing a powerful flaming side kick. The move is somewhat like a "kick version" of Falcon Punch, including the move's ability to reverse itself while charging.
Side special Default Onslaught 1.5% (ground loop hits), 1% (air loop hits), 5% (last hit) Charges forward with their knee out. Upon hitting an opponent, the Brawler launches into a series of kicks and punches before ending with an upwards flip kick. Unlike in Smash 4, the second-to-last hit is now a meteor smash that drags opponents to the ground, helping the move's connect better.
Custom 1 Burning Dropkick 13% Jumps forward and delivers a fiery dropkick. Unlike in Smash 4, the move can no longer be charged, severely limiting the Brawler's horizontal recovery and mindgame utility when using this move.
Custom 2 Suplex 3% (grab), 22.2% (fresh), 18% (stale) Dashes forward with their knee out, much like Onslaught. If the Brawler connects with an opponent, they will grab them and perform a leaping suplex. Due to the move's extremely low knockback, being unable to KO even at percents higher than 300%, it is more useful for racking up damage.
Up special Default Soaring Axe Kick 4% (hit 1), 3% (hit 2), 4% (hit 3) Performs an upward flip kick, followed by an axe kick that meteor smashes aerial opponents. Unlike in Smash 4, the move's downward portion can now be inputted manually by pressing the special button. much like Cloud's Climhazzard. This increases the move's usefulness as a recovery option
Custom 1 Helicopter Kick 3% (ground hit 1), 2% (air hit 1), 1.5% (hits 2-5), 6% (hit 6) A flurry of kicks while traveling diagonally upward, similar to Fox's forward aerial. Does good damage, with the final hit being strong and capable of KOing. Allows for long horizontal recovery, but lacks vertical lift. Also very useful for finishing aerial combos. Considered one of the Brawler's best special moves overall due to its combo reliability.
Custom 2 Thrust Uppercut 0.8% (hits 1-4), 9% (final hit) Performs a jumping uppercut that hits five times. Deals fair knockback with the final hit.
Down special Default Head-On Assault 6% (ground leap), 2% (drop), 14% (impact) Kicks upward with both feet, the headbutts downward at a high speed. Unlike in Smash 4, this move no longer buries grounded opponents, but instead launches them upwards.
Custom 1 Feint Jump 10% Flips off the ground and, when the special button is pressed again, performs a divekick while surrounded by a blue aura. Functions very similarly to Flip Jump. Both the jump and the kick can be reversed if the player taps in the other direction, allowing for great horizontal distance. The kick can also meteor smash.
Custom 2 Counter Throw ? Takes a defensive pose with its hands covering its face, much like Little Mac's Slip Counter. If the Brawler is hit while it is in this state, the Brawler will grab the opponent and throw them behind it.
Final Smash Omega Blitz 5% (startup), 0.8% (hits 1-28), 15% (hit 29) Heelkicks the target into the air and batters them with punches and kicks before smashing them back downwards with a punch. Functions similarly to Great Aether.

On-screen appearance

  • Lands with an explosion, does a flip kick, and makes a pose similar to its side taunt.

Taunts

  • Up taunt: Flips into a crane pose
  • Side taunt: Moves its fists into an "X" position before swinging its open hand to its
  • Down taunt: Punches twice towards the screen

Victory poses

Idle poses

  • Unclenches its fists and hops on the spot, as if prepared for a fight.

Role in World of Light

Although the Mii Brawler does not appear in the World of Light opening cutscene, they were vaporized and later imprisoned alongside the rest of the fighters (Excluding Kirby) when Galeem unleashed his beams of light.

In the mode, the Brawler can be fought in Sacred Land.

Defeating the Mii Brawler automatically adds the default Mii Brawler under the name Mii with a default 1111 moveset to the list of Mii Fighters for all modes where Mii Fighters are usable.
