Highest placements of a character at a major/supermajor tournament. Major definition going off what the wiki defines as a major.
The following is a list of highest placements at majors and supermajors. A character's "highest placement" must fall under the following criteria:

A character is listed here under the following criteria:
*The character was used successfully in at least two sets, with the character being used to win more than one game per set.
*The character was used successfully in at least two sets, with the character being used to win more than one game per set.

For major winners, the following criteria applies:
For major winners, their characters must fall under one of these criteria:
*The character was used successfully in at least three sets outside of pools, with the character being used to win at least two games per set.
*The character was used successfully in at least three sets outside of pools, with the character being used to win at least two games per set.
*The character was used successfully in at least four sets outside of pools, with the character winning at least two games in two of the sets and one game in two other sets.
*The character was used successfully in at least four sets outside of pools, with the character winning at least two games in two of the sets and one game in two other sets.

For example, {{Sm|MkLeo}}'s performance at {{Trn|Smash World Tour 2021 Championships}} counts as a major win for {{SSBU|Pyra}} and {{SSBU|Mythra}}. Although he only used the characters  to win two full sets, he also used the characters to win one game in winning sets against three other players, and as such it falls under the second criteria. Conversely, {{Sm|Armada}}'s {{SSBM|Young Link}} is not counted for any of Young Link's performances, as he was only used to win one set in each major.

There will be a few exceptions to this rule, which will be listed in their respective sections. Invitationals are only used for major winners and will not count for highest character placements. Disputed majors are not included.

There will be a few exceptions to this rule, which will be listed in their respective sections. Invitationals are not listed unless it was a player/character's first major win.

Exceptions:
Exceptions:
*{{Trn|Shine 2016}}: SuPeRbOoMfAn practically used a different character for each set, so the event is considered a major win for Kirby and Fox as they were the only characters used for more than one set
*{{Trn|Shine 2016}}: SuPeRbOoMfAn used a different character for each set, so the event is considered a major win for Kirby and Fox as they were the only characters used for more than one set
*{{Trn|Hitstun 5}}: Same thing as above, so only Captain Falcon is counted since he was the only character used in more than one set
*{{Trn|Hitstun 5}}: Similar to the above, and as such only Captain Falcon is counted since he was the only character used in more than one set

Parenthesized values represent the total number of major wins overall, while the unparenthesized values represent the total number of major wins prior to ''Smash 4''. Likewise, the highest placements table is split into pre-''Smash 4'' and post-''Smash 4''. Only characters who placed higher in post-''Smash 4'' are listed in the latter table. Parenthesized values represent the total number of major wins overall, while the unparenthesized values represent the total number of major wins prior to ''Ultimate''. Likewise, the highest placements table is split into pre-''Ultimate'' and post-''Ultimate''. Only characters who placed higher in post-''Ultimate'' are listed in the latter table.

The following is a list of highest placements at majors and supermajors. A character's "highest placement" must fall under the following criteria:

  • The character was used successfully in at least two sets, with the character being used to win more than one game per set.

For major winners, their characters must fall under one of these criteria:

  • The character was used successfully in at least three sets outside of pools, with the character being used to win at least two games per set.
  • The character was used successfully in at least four sets outside of pools, with the character winning at least two games in two of the sets and one game in two other sets.

For example, MkLeo's performance at Smash World Tour 2021 Championships counts as a major win for Pyra and Mythra. Although he only used the characters to win two full sets, he also used the characters to win one game in winning sets against three other players, and as such it falls under the second criteria. Conversely, Armada's Young Link is not counted for any of Young Link's performances, as he was only used to win one set in each major. There will be a few exceptions to this rule, which will be listed in their respective sections. Invitationals are only used for major winners and will not count for highest character placements. Disputed majors are not included.

Super Smash Bros.[edit]

Exceptions:

  • Shine 2016: SuPeRbOoMfAn used a different character for each set, so the event is considered a major win for Kirby and Fox as they were the only characters used for more than one set
  • Hitstun 5: Similar to the above, and as such only Captain Falcon is counted since he was the only character used in more than one set

Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]

Unparenthesized values represent the total number of major wins prior to Smash 4, while parenthesized values represent the total number of major wins overall. Likewise, the highest placements table is split into pre-Smash 4 and post-Smash 4. Only characters who placed higher in post-Smash 4 are listed in the latter table. Note that Brawl data is not well documented and the information is taken from the wiki itself, and as such some of these placements may not be completely accurate. With the latter in mind, the following placements are not listed due to a lack of concrete information:

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

Exception:

  • Sumabato SP 6: Rizeasu only had one set win with a confirmed character. As Rizeasu was mostly a random main during this time, it is also unknown how many other sets he won with Zelda. As such, Rizeasu's run at this event is not counted for Zelda.
  • Ultimate Fighting Arena 2019: MkLeo mostly used Marth for sandbagging purposes/against opponents who he was near-guaranteed to win. As such, Marth is not counted.
