Bowser Jr. (SSB4)
This article is about Bowser Jr.'s appearance in Super Smash Bros. 4. For the character in other contexts, see Bowser Jr..

Bowser Jr. was unofficially revealed as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4 via leaked videos from footage used by ESRB to rate the game. He was leaked again in a official Super Smash Bros. for Wii U screenshot on the official website. He and Rosalina appear as newcomers that represent the Mario series. He is voiced by Caety Sagoian.[1]

Attributes

What makes Bowser Jr. unique is that he rides in the Junior Clown Car, his personal Koopa Clown Car. This makes him a very heavy character (tied with Charizard). While in the Clown Car, he can use various weapons from the Mario series in a similar way to Mr. Game & Watch and Mega Man.

  • Attacks that strike the Clown Car will deal 0.88x damage, whereas those that hit Bowser Jr. himself will deal 1.15x damage.[2]
  • Unlike the other characters, Bowser Jr. does not change colors, but is instead replaced by one of the Koopalings.

Aesthetically, Bowser Jr. looks more realistic than in the Mario games, with a similar color scheme to Bowser's appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

How To Unlock

Complete one of the following:

  • Play 100 VS Matches.
  • As Bowser, complete Classic Mode on Intensity 6.0 or higher.

After completing one of the two methods, Bowser Jr. must then be defeated on 3D Land.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS trophy descriptions

Bowser Jr.
Bowser's beloved, spoiled son sports a bandanna with a large mouth drawn on it. Like his father, Bowser Jr. longs to take Mario down. In Smash Bros., he'll fight from inside his heavily armed Junior Clown Car. The Clown Car takes less damage than Bowser Jr., so mind your positioning.
Bowser Jr. (Alt.)
The Clown Kart Dash special move turns the Junior Clown Car into a kart. If you change direction while driving it, it'll spin and do more damage. When you use his up special, Bowser Jr. leaps from his Junior Clown Car, dropping it on the foes below.

Trivia

  • Bowser Jr. is the only fighter who does not have an alternate costume that shares the name as the default costume or is a palette swap of the original costume. Due to this, he's also the only character to use his default color scheme in his All-Star trophy.
  • Because Bowser Jr.'s placement in All-Star Mode is based on his debut rather than the Koopalings (who debuted before him), the Koopalings will be misplaced during All-Star Mode if one of the Koopalings is the opponent. The same applies to Olimar and Alph.
    • Bowser Jr. is also one of 2 characters where all 8 of his costumes have a chance for appearing in All-Star Mode, the other being Villager.
  • Robin and Bowser Jr. are the only characters in Super Smash Bros. 4 that have different poses for some or all of their costumes.
