In ''Smash 64'', as the description above suggests, the Battlefield consists of a main central platform with three soft floating platforms arranged in a pyramid formation. The stage is set against a background consisting of multicolored flames, with leaves at the top of the screen.

In ''Melee'', the Battlefield is given a major redesign owing to the graphical improvements from the N64 to the Nintendo GameCube. It retains the original design, but now has a black frame beneath it, whereas the stage in Smash 64 was divided into sections, with a multicolored glowing orb in the middle of the frame. The stage now has a slight rainbow effect in the aesthetic, and it is set in a night sky, with a cluster of stars in the background.

In ''Brawl'', some of the design from ''Melee'' was left unchanged, but the aesthetic of the stage was altered to now incorporate natural features into it. In addition to the original layout, the base of the main platform is now made of rock with foliage and small bushes growing onto it, with a small pond in front of the stage's center. On the underside of the rock, a  glowing object hangs upside-down. In the back of the stage, there are crumbling ruins, rocks, and a few small bushes with berries growing on them.

In ''Smash 4'', the overall aesthetic of the stage is relatively similar to ''Brawl'', but the stages differ between the two versions:

In the Nintendo 3DS version, there are two large trees in the background, and there is an archway with stairs floating behind the stage in front of massive pillars of rock in the background. Behind the main path of the stage is a small, crumbling wall, and there is a small pool of water in front of the main path, which drains over the side of the stage.

In the Wii U version, the main platform of the stage appears to be more jagged, with small ledges jutting out the side pf the stage, with yellow lines going through the rock ledges. There are two slightly ripped flags with the ''Super Smash Bros.'' series logo on them, and massive ruins float behind the stage. Additionally, a giant moon can be seen in the background.

In ''Ultimate'', the Battlefield seems to combine some of the visual aesthetics from the two previous Battlefields (three if you count the 3DS and Wii U versions of Battlefield as separate}. Once again, the stage is made mostly of rock, with bushes and shrubs growing on the side. Behind the main fighting area, there is a half crumbled arch to the left, and ice shards to the right. On the underside, there is a giant, jagged piece of ice, in the bottom, surrounded by rock. Ruins are present in the background, similar to the Wii U version of the stage, but there is now waterfalls where empty sky used to be. In the distance, a slightly torn flag with the ''Super Smash Bros.'' series logo on it waves, similar to ''Smash for Wii U''.

Battlefield (戦場, Battlefield) is a stage in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It was the very first stage revealed for Ultimate during the Nintendo Direct of E3 2018.

Stage layout

Like its predecessors, Battlefield consists of a central, solid platform, with ledges at its sides that can be grabbed. Above this platform, there are three more soft platforms, arranged in a triangular layout. The Battlefield stages in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4, the background shifts between light and dark. However, in this iteration, this is due to a regularly-occurring solar eclipse rather than a day/night cycle.

Visually, Battlefield takes place in a futuristic ruins setting

In Ultimate, the Battlefield seems to combine some of the visual aesthetics from the two previous Battlefields (three if you count the 3DS and Wii U versions of Battlefield as separate}. In the distance, a slightly torn flag with the Super Smash Bros. series logo on it waves, similar to Smash for Wii U.

Ω form

Battlefield's Ω form is identical to the regular stage, but with the soft platforms removed. Unlike Battlefield's Ω form in Smash 4, where it was lengthened, this stage is the same length as the normal Battlefield, as Final Destination is now the same length as Battlefield Ω.

Trivia

  • In the E3 2018 demo build of Ultimate, selecting Final Destination would load the Ω form of Battlefield instead. Ultimate's version of Final Destination had not been revealed at the time.
