The following is the list of the Spirits that are left unsorted by game series in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. There are a total of 129 different games or series represented in the list. For the spirits available since the game release, the series are ordered by the console they debuted on and the year their first game (or in the case of some third-party series, Nintendo-published installment) released. For example, all series that debuted on the Game Boy are listed before the ones that debuted on the SNES/Super Famicom, regardless of whether an SNES series predates a Game Boy one.

Trivia

  • Prior to the 1.1.0 update, all Shovel Knight spirits were ordered between Rayman and Clip & Snip rather than between the Dillon's Rolling Western and Culdcept spirits.
  • Despite all four River City spirits arriving on the Spirit Board before the release of Byleth and corresponding Fire Emblem: Three Houses spirits, the former are numbered after the latter in the spirit list. Prior to the 7.0.0 update, this resulted in a complete spirit inventory having 1383 spirits, with the final spirit in the list (Ryuichi & Ryuji) being #1397, and lacking spirits #1380-1393 altogether.
  • Several third-party series are ordered by the console and year their first Nintendo-published installment was released rather than being categorized with the miscellaneous third-party series, which starts from Boss Galaga and ends with Risky Boots from the Shantae series.
    • SimCity was first published by Maxis for the Amiga and Macintosh in 1989, but it is categorized as a SNES series, as the version of SimCity for that console was published by Nintendo in 1991.
    • Chee-Chai Alien was first published by Creatures Inc. for the Game Boy Color in 2001, but it is categorized as a Game Boy Advance series, as Nonono Puzzle Chalien for the Game Boy Advance was published by Nintendo in 2005.
    • The Tower was first published by OPeNBooK (now known as Vivarium) for Microsoft Windows and Macintosh System 7 in 1994, but it is categorized as a Game Boy Advance series, as The Tower SP for the Game Boy Advance was published by Nintendo in Japan in 2005.
    • Glory of Heracles was first published by Data East for the Famicom in 1987, but it is categorized as a Nintendo DS series, as Glory of Heracles: Proof of the Soul for the Nintendo DS was published by Nintendo in 2008.
    • Fatal Frame was first published by Tecmo for the PlayStation 2 in 2001, but it is categorized as a Wii series, as Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse for the Wii was published by Nintendo in 2008.
    • Culdcept was first published by OmiyaSoft for the Sega Saturn in 1997, but it is categorized as a Nintendo 3DS series, as the first installment for the 3DS was published by Nintendo in 2012.
    • Rayman was first published by Ubisoft for the Atari Jaguar in 1995, but it is categorized as a Wii U series, as Rayman Legends for the Wii U was published by Nintendo in Japan in 2013.
    • Shovel Knight was first published by Yacht Club Games for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U in 2014, but it is categorized as a Nintendo 3DS series, as the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions of Shovel Knight were published by Nintendo in Japan in 2016. However, it is ordered between the Dillon's Rolling Western series and the Culdcept series, despite both Dillon's Rolling Western and the first Nintendo-published Culdcept installment being released in 2012.
    • Baten Kaitos is the only third-party series to be categorized with the first-party series, but not be ordered by its first Nintendo-published installment. Rather than being ordered as the last series to debut on the Nintendo GameCube, it is ordered between GiFTPiA (which debuted in 2003) and Chibi-Robo (which debuted in 2005). This is despite the fact that the first game in the series, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, was published by Namco in 2003, while the prequel, Baten Kaitos Origins (which Sagi and Milly appear in), was published by Nintendo in 2006.
    • With regards to the Shantae series' placement in the spirit list, it may be due to its later release in Japan and not on the release of Shantae on Game Boy Color (which released in North America on June 2nd, 2002), as Risky's Revenge and Pirate's Curse were released on September 1st, 2016 and September 7th, 2016, respectively.
  • Similarly, some first-party series are ordered by the release date of specific installments rather than their first installment.
    • The MONSTER's ordering is based on the release date of Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally, rather than Famicom Grand Prix: F-1 Race.
    • Ayumi Tachibana's ordering is based on the release date of Famicom Tantei Club Part II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shōjo for the Famicom Disk System, rather than Famicom Tantei Club: Kieta Kōkeisha for the Famicom Disk System.
    • Ryota Hayami's ordering is based on the release date of Wave Race 64, rather than Wave Race for the Game Boy. This results in it being categorized as a Nintendo 64 series.
    • Chef's ordering is based on the release date of Personal Trainer: Cooking, rather than Shaberu! DS Oryōri Navi.
    • The Nintendogs series' ordering is based on the release date of Nintendogs + Cats, rather than the original Nintendogs. This results in it being categorized as a Nintendo 3DS series rather than a Nintendo DS series.
    • Eddy's ordering is based on the release date of Fluidity: Spin Cycle, rather than Fluidity for WiiWare. This results in it being categorized as a Nintendo 3DS series.
  • The Nintendo DS is represented with the most series, with 22 (23 if Elite Beat Agents is separated). In contrast, the Virtual Boy is represented with the least amount of series, with only one, that being Teleroboxer (this is not counting the Game Boy Color, whose only represented series, Card Hero, is categorized as a Game Boy series).
  • The Rhythm Heaven series has the most spirits of those not represented by a fighter, having 9 across its various installments.
  • Golden Sun is the only universe without a fighter to have at least one spirit of every class.
  • Electroplankton, Nintendogs and Balloon Fight have their own series symbols, but their spirits lack their respective symbol.
  • Nintendogs is the only non-fighter series to use real life pictures for their spirits. Furthermore, it is the only series to use living organisms for its "artwork", rather than man-made sculpted models.
    • Nintendogs is also the only non-fighter series (aside from those featured in Pac-Man's Namco Roulette taunt) not to have every otherwise-present character appear as a spirit; with the exception of the Toy Poodle, all of the various breeds featured in the Living Room stage lack Spirits.
  • Yama is ordered after Li'l Blue, despite The Tower SP predating Nonono Puzzle Chalien by 2 months.
    • Curiously, Yama's game of origin is credited as "SimTower SP", despite the official English title of the game being the same as its Japanese title, The Tower SP. Furthermore, the SimTower title has not been used in an installment ever since the first game of The Tower series, SimTower: The Vertical Empire.
  • Despite Baxter and Forthington being named "Quick" and "Slow" respectively, and The Wandering Samurai being named "Samurai Steve" in PAL English versions of the Rhythm Heaven series, their American names are still used for their spirits in PAL English versions.
  • Despite Kiki Trick only ever releasing on the Wii, Noise is categorized with the Nintendo 3DS series, being ordered between Nikki and Dillon.
  • The Cuphead spirits mark the first instances where the spirit battles can change depending on if DLC is installed, in which downloading the Cuphead Mii costume can change their music and, in the case of the Cuphead and Mugman spirit battles, puppet fighters to accommodate the new content.
  • The Devil from Cuphead uses the title of the game in his name despite there not being any other character specifically named "The Devil" in English. This is most likely a leftover from the Japanese version where he and Devil from Devil World both use the name デビル.
  • Lotus is the first DLC enhanceable spirit to not be exclusive to a DLC Spirit Board, instead making her debut in a Spirit Board event.
