Rest Station

The Rest Station is a stage in SSBM and SSBB, which cannot be unlocked, and is only playable in All-Star Mode. It contains a teleporter which brings players to the next level, and also has up to three (or five if playing in Co-Op Mode) Heart Containers which heal the player all of their damage, instead of the usual 100%. The only way to access the stages for a match is through the use of hacking devices.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

The Melee version of the teleporter is a sort of hybrid between the Super Smash Bros. universe and the Kirby universe. The music and a few other elements of the stage are borrowed from Kirby games, but the rest of the stage is completely original. The area consists of a path winding through what appears to be a lightly forested park. A resting area with a bench and fountain, complete with large lights, can be seen in the background.

Occasionally, after having beaten 3 All-Star matches, the player may find trophies in this stage. Trophies of defeated characters sit on the ground in the background while portraits of upcoming opponents float above them.

It is available through hacking, but it is nearly impossible to KO, requiring a powerful hit with high percentage to the top left corner of the screen.

If a player enters the teleporter after picking up one of the Heart Containers, their damage will remain at the percentage it was at when they entered, regardless of whether or not the player has finished healing. The player should wait until their damage is reduced to 0% before entering the teleporter. This problem was fixed in Brawl.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

It also appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the All-Star and Boss Battles modes as well. In Brawl it has metamorphosed into a dimly lit cave, where light shines down onto the teleporter from a hole in the ceiling. There are two kinds of flowers in this cave: a small one resembling a clover whose bloom glows white under the character portraits; and a large flower, resembling either an orchid or a lily, glowing a translucent indigo on the right wall, above the Heart Containers. Note that playing All-Star or Boss Battles with two players will result in there being 5 Heart Containers instead of 3.

Like its Melee counterpart, it can be played through hacking, but once Player 1 or 2 goes into the teleporter, the stage goes pitch black. Mr. Game & Watch's icon will always be in the background when hacked in, despite that's not possible in actual gameplay. No one can die by going past the blast lines either because the stage lacks them or is completely enclosed. The Heart Containers can be used.

Trivia

  • When Charizard's Rock Smash is used in the Rest Station, it uses a whitish chunk of rock something that looks like a chunk of ice, rather than the usual plain brown boulder.
  • Players cannot be KO'ed in the Brawl Rest Area by any means.
