Apex 2014 was the fifth edition of the Apex tournament series, a fighting game tournament held annually in New Jersey, which took place on January 17th-19th, 2014, at the DoubleTree Hotel. Like previous tournaments of the series, Apex 2014 hosted a variety of fighting games including the three official Smash Bros. games, as well as Project M. It was the largest Project M tournament of all time with 382 entrants, the largest Smash 64 tournament in the United States with 157 entrants, the second-largest Brawl tournament of all time (behind Apex 2012) with 370 entrants, and the fifth-largest Melee tournament of all time (behind EVO 2015, Apex 2015, EVO 2014, and EVO 2013) with 629 entrants.
