==Sexual misconduct allegations==
On April 29th, 2023, one of WaDi's ex-girlfriends by the name of Juno released a Twitlonger accusing WaDi of abuse and misconduct while the two were together.<ref>https://twitter.com/JunoGamingWatch/status/1652406548566626305</ref> According to Juno, WaDi took her in during what was considered to be a low point in her life after a breakup with an ex. Despite the perceived red flags displayed by WaDi, Juno moved in with him. During their relationship, she claimed that WaDi was only attracted to her body and mostly used her until he got bored of their relationship. In one particular incident, Juno alleged that WaDi pressured her for oral sex which she obliged despite her hesitation and objections. Upon their breakup, Juno claimed that WaDi stated that he wished that she was more sexually active, which was likely the catalyst and led her to what was considered to be one of the lowest points of her life. She finally claimed that she posted this due to what appeared to be a repeated pattern from WaDi over using his status as a top player to manipulate those who were in more desperate positions. This Twitter post came out approximately 1 month after WaDi posted a photo with Juno, effectively announcing their relationship. The photo WaDi had posted received some backlash due to their age differences where Juno was 19 and WaDi was 27, though others defended it on the basis of being consensual and legal.

The photo WaDi had posted received some backlash due to their age differences where Juno was 19 and WaDi was 27, though others defended it on the basis of being consensual and legal.

In response, WaDi posted a tweet claiming that all allegations that were made by Juno were false and that she posted her Twitlonger due to bitterness over their breakup, while saying he would follow up with a more in-depth Twitlonger later. A few hours later, he followed up with his own Twitlonger,<ref>https://web.archive.org/web/20230430050252/https://twitter.com/WaDiRob/status/1652538602788642817</ref> alleging that he did not want her to move in nor quit her job but gave in at her insistence as he just wanted to help her, and that he broke up with her as he realized he was not ready for a relationship nor to take care of anyone. He would deny the claims of isolating her, claiming he regularly brought her to tournaments and encouraged her to make friends with people, and denied ever pressuring her into doing something sexually that she did not want to do, as well as stating they both happily agreed to her acting as a "housewife", citing a tweet where she posted publicly about it.

A few hours after the exchange, former competitive player {{Sm|Squerk}} released his own Twitlonger regarding WaDi's alleged misconduct<ref>https://twitter.com/Squerk_/status/1652591144272814082</ref>, claiming that he and WaDi were in a brief relationship when he was 15 or 16 years old and Wadi was 20 years old at the time. The post also alleged that he and WaDi had a sexual encounter and WaDi was the instigator that led to their brief relationship. This was first rumored in 2020 after Squerk's brother {{Sm|Puppeh}} released a post claiming that he was a victim of sexual abuse by WaDi's ex-fiancée {{Sm|Cinnpie}}. At the time Squerk denied the claims, stating that he did it to protect WaDi as he saw him as a friend. Squerk finalized his statement by supporting Juno's allegations. Following up on his statement, Squerk posted images of text messages he allegedly received from WaDi in 2016 where WaDi reciprocated Squerk's feelings for him and stated that he was open to trying a relationship with him.<ref>https://twitter.com/Squerk_/status/1652935115226378240</ref> The messages were exchanged in November of 2016, which would mean that Squerk was 17 years old and WaDi was 20 years old at the time. WaDi would deactivate his social media accounts and stay silent for several months, but would return in protected mode on August 28, 2023, stating to watch the video by {{sm|Technicals}} on his situation and that he will not return to competitive ''Ultimate'' if he returns to the community at all.<ref>https://twitter.com/WaDiRob/status/1696358901359255567</ref>

WaDi, formerly WaDiRob, is a retired Ultimate R.O.B. and Mewtwo co-main from Virginia. WaDi began Ultimate as primarily a R.O.B. player and was considered the best R.O.B. player in the world during the early metagame, using the character to defeat players such as Samsora, Light, Dabuz, Cosmos, and Riddles. During and following the pandemic period, WaDi slowly used Mewtwo at more tournaments, also defeating players such as Sparg0, MVD, and Lima. Due to achievements with both characters, WaDi was considered the best Mewtwo player in the world and one of the best R.O.B. players in the United States. He was formerly ranked 1st on the MD/VA Ultimate Power Rankings, 33rd on the Wi-Fi Warrior Rank v7, 43rd on the OrionRank 2022 North America, 87th on UltRank 2022, and 79th on the OrionRank 2022. At his peak, he was ranked 20th on the Fall 2019 PGRU.

In Smash 4, WaDi is a Mewtwo main with a R.O.B. secondary, and is considered one of the best Mewtwo players throughout Smash 4's active competitive lifespan, along with Abadango and SDX. WaDi is currently ranked 1st on the MD/VA Smash 4 Power Rankings and 26th on Panda Global Rankings 100.

Throughout his career, WaDi joined and left a couple of esports organizations, and had plans on joining Team ZeRo for Pound 2020 prior to the tournament's cancellation.[1] WaDi was formerly sponsored by Panda, having joined the team on April 2nd, 2021 but severed ties with them on December 2nd, 2022 amid fallout from the cancellation of the Smash World Tour 2022 Championships.[2][3]

Playstyle

WaDi is known for his passive-aggressive playstyle with amazing adaptation and solid fundamentals. With R.O.B., he plays neutral through zoning and conversions to build damage, sometimes using weaker parts of R.O.B.'s kit (such as forward throw) to keep his opponent in disadvantage. He is known for his accurate usage of Gyro and Robo Beam to keep opponents offstage or to even net a stock.

With Mewtwo, he plays a very aggressive playstyle, but is able to convert into a defensive playstyle as well. Just like R.O.B., he goes for conversions in neutral to build damage by keeping his opponent in disadvantage. He utilizes Shadow Ball as a way to cover options and to setup unique kill options. WaDi is also known for using Mewtwo as more of a "data collector"; he uses Mewtwo to learn and adapt to his opponent's habits. At the end of the set, WaDi will usually switch to R.O.B. to close, but occasionally will continue to use Mewtwo.

WaDi is known for his counterpicking, switching between R.O.B., Mewtwo, and Ice Climbers (sometimes even after winning a game) to make it difficult for his opponent to adapt.

Sexual misconduct allegations

On April 29th, 2023, one of WaDi's ex-girlfriends named Juno released a Twitlonger accusing WaDi of abuse and misconduct while the two were together.[4] According to Juno, WaDi took her in during what was considered to be a low point in her life after a breakup with an ex. This Twitter post came out approximately 1 month after WaDi posted a photo with Juno that revealed their relationship. The photo WaDi had posted received some backlash due to their age differences where Juno was 19 and WaDi was 27, though others defended it on the basis of being consensual and legal.

In response, WaDi posted a tweet claiming that all allegations that were made by Juno were false and that she posted her Twitlonger due to bitterness over their breakup. A few hours later, he followed up with his own Twitlonger,[5] alleging that he did not want her to move in nor quit her job but gave in at her insistence as he just wanted to help her, and that he broke up with her as he realized he was not ready for a relationship nor to take care of anyone.

A few hours after the exchange, former competitive player Squerk released his own Twitlonger regarding WaDi's alleged misconduct,[6] claiming that he and WaDi were in a brief relationship when he was 15 or 16 years old and Wadi was 20 years old at the time. The post also alleged that he and WaDi had a sexual encounter and WaDi was the instigator that led to their brief relationship. This was first rumored in 2020 after Squerk's brother Puppeh released a post claiming that he was a victim of sexual abuse by WaDi's ex-fiancée Cinnpie. At the time Squerk denied the claims, stating that he did it to protect WaDi as he saw him as a friend. Squerk finalized his statement by supporting Juno's allegations. Following up on his statement, Squerk posted images of text messages he allegedly received from WaDi in 2016 where WaDi reciprocated Squerk's feelings for him and stated that he was open to trying a relationship with him.[7] The messages were exchanged in November of 2016, which would mean that Squerk was 17 years old and WaDi was 20 years old at the time. WaDi then deactivated his social media accounts and stay silent for several months, but returned in protected mode on August 28, 2023, stating to watch the video by Technicals on his situation and that he will not return to competitive Ultimate if he returns to the community at all.[8]

Trivia

  • He is the younger brother of JeBB, an MD/VA Palutena player who was formerly ranked 19th on the MD/VA Ultimate Power Rankings.
  • In 2017, WaDi set the record for the most Smash 4 tournaments won at Xanadu, surpassing the record of 27 victories that was previously held by Boss.
  • WaDi's former gamer tag WaDiRob comes from his former mains Wario and R.O.B. in Brawl, and how he thinks that Wario's name sounds like "Wadio" in-game.
    • Furthermore, the capitalization of the letters “W”, “D”, and “R” in his tag “WaDiRob” is in homage to his usage of Wario, King Dedede, and R.O.B. in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
  • Before his first match at the 2GG Championship, WaDi became engaged to his girlfriend and fellow MD/VA smasher, Cinnpie, proposing to her onstage. They called off the engagement on December 31st, 2019, but remained on amicable terms.[9]
  • WaDi is notorious on his streams for his pose when offering a handshake, where he has his hand raised and close to the camera. This has become a meme in the Smash community.[10]
  • WaDi went through the first 15 months of Ultimate-lifespan without owning a Nintendo Switch and a copy of the game at home, despite his consistency in tournaments and in PGRU rankings. He bought a Nintendo Switch during the first COVID-19 lockdown in April 2020.
  • He has a tattoo of the R.O.B. series symbol on his arm.[11]
