He was formerly considered one of the top PM Captain Falcon players. He is currently ranked 2nd on the Georgia Ultimate Power Rankings and was formerly ranked 61st on the Wi-Fi Warrior Rank v5 and 48th on the Spring 2019 PGRU. He has taken sets off of top players such as LeoN, kameme, Raito, Nicko, ScAtt, Raffi-X, Goblin, Wrath, Mr.R, and Kola.

In Smash 4, Fatality is widely considered the best Captain Falcon player in the world. He is currently ranked 1st on the Georgia Smash 4 Power Rankings and 19th on the Panda Global Rankings 100. He has taken sets off of top players such as ZeRo, Nairo, Dabuz, Ally, Salem, Larry Lurr, komorikiri, CaptainZack, Marss, and kameme.

Fatality earned the reputation as the best Captain Falcon player with his Top 8 placings in both Super Smash Con 2015 and Super Smash Con 2016, in addition to getting Top 16 at 2GGT: ZeRo Saga. However, his best performance yet was at 2GGC: Civil War, where he impressed the crowd by running through players such as Trela, komorikiri, and Nairo among other top players until he was defeated by Dabuz in Grand Finals to end at 2nd place.

On April 17th, 2016, Fatality was signed by True AmBition,[1] and shortly after left the team on August 16th.[2] On October 27th, 2016, he was signed by FlySociety,[3] from which he left on April 18th, 2017.[4] On May 18th, Fatality was signed by Team YP.[5] Over a year later, on June 28th, 2018, Fatality and Team YP parted ways.[6] Fatality would eventually be signed by eSports Ecosystem on September 21st, 2018.[7] On April 2nd, 2019, Fatality left eSports Ecosystem.[8]On October 14th, 2021, he was signed by FURIA Esports.[9]

Playstyle

Fatality implements heavy usage of dash-dancing, utilizing it for spacing, mind games, and approaches. He is known for his simultaneously flashy and incredibly devastating punish game, 0-to-K.O. combos, and impressive off-stage proficiency, being notable for his prowess at getting back on stage with a recovery as interceptable as Captain Falcon's. In order to KO his opponents (often times at very early percents) Fatality incorporates air dodge reads and a myriad of kill set-ups, all with style. He is also reputable for his consistent usage of footstool combos.

Starting with Project M

The tournaments Fatality first competed, were in Project M tournaments. Even before his dominance with the character in Smash 4, he was considered one of the best Captain Falcon players in the United States. His first tournament was at Tipped Off 9 where he placed 5th, losing to PPMD and Plup. His next notable tournaments were 7th place at both Tipped Off 10 and Paragon Orlando 2015, with notable set wins over Lucky, MVD, Shroomed. He had shown his strengths as a player up to this point, but with Smash 4 on the horizon, Fatality switched his focus on Smash 4 and hasn't entered a Project M tournament since 2016.

2015-2016: Starting the Engine for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Although his time with Project M was short-lived, Fatality's time in Smash 4 was his major breakthrough as a player. This showed his competitive potential even further, as he became the best Captain Falcon in the world.

During the first year of Smash 4, Fatality took 1st place at many locals, but he would struggle to get strong placements at important events. This would last until a 17th place finishes at CEO 2015. He was eliminated by Tyrant, but took sets off of 6WX and Day. Next was EVO 2015 where he placed 65th, his worst placement in a Smash 4 tournament to date.

His breakout tournament was at Super Smash Con 2015. He placed 4th at the event and took notable wins over Dabuz, Angel Cortes, and false, but he got 3-0'd by ZeRo and Nairo. A few weeks later, he placed 7th at SKTAR 4, taking more sets over notable players such as Mr. E, Rivers, and LingLing.

He had more notable placements with 13th at The Big House 5, taking a win over Pink Fresh, but falling to Ryuga and Zenyou, then 9th at MLG World Finals 2015 after failing to take game 5 from both GrimTurtle and Mr.R.

At 2GGT: Fatality Saga he ended the year with another top 8 placement of 7th, losing to Xzax and Ito at the event.

In 2016, his strong results continued at GENESIS 3. At the tournament, he had a solid losers run after his early loss to Xieon, eliminating Exodia, Big D, Angel Cortes, and Nietono. He fell to Larry Lurr, ending with a placement of 17th. At smaller tournaments, he got 3rd place at FINAL ROUND 19 and 2nd at Paradigm Shift. In the latter tournament, he took sets from RFang, Puppeh and Aikota, until he got double eliminated by ESAM.

For PGR v1, Fatality was placed 41st on the rankings, is one of the two ranked Captain Falcon players alongside Tearbear.

His ranking on the system left room for improvement, but Fatality showed better performances in the second half of 2016. At MomoCon 2016, he was able to place 9th at the event. After losing 2-1 to Wrath, he defeated many players in losers such as 2-0s over Kola, C3PO, and ScAtt, as well as beating TheReflexWonder 2-1, before being eliminated by Ally. Later at CEO 2016, he took wins from FOW and Seagull Joe, as well as a win over Zenyou. He lost to Larry Lurr 2-1 and VoiD 2-0, placing 17th at the event.

He went to Super Smash Con 2016 and placed 7th, taking sets from Marss and DKwill. He had game 5 sets with VoiD and Dabuz, but ultimately failed to win either set. His set with VoiD is infamous for his play with Mario in game 1, being in disadvantage for the entire game until he secured two low-percent gimps.

He had another strong placement of 9th at The Big House 6, in which after he lost to Samsora 2-0, he defeated Pugwest, Cosmos, Ri-ma, and won against Samsora in their runback. His streak ended when he was eliminated by Marss 3-1.

Despite his strong placements at those aforementioned events, he attended UGC Smash Open and placed 33rd, being defeated by CaptainZack 3-0 and tyroy 3-2. Though at the end of the year, he garnered notable wins over kameme and FOW at 2GGT: ZeRo Saga. He placed 13th at the event after he got 3-0'd by both Larry Lurr and Dabuz

Due to placing well at every major tournament he attended - with the exception of UGC Smash Open - and having a few notable PGR wins, Fatality had a much higher ranking of 28th on the PGR v2, continuing his status as the best Captain Falcon player.

2017: Continued Momentum

With Fatality now being a respected player in the Smash 4 scene, he started 2017 with two top 24 placements at both 2GGC: GENESIS Saga and GENESIS 4. At GENESIS 4, he defeated Javi 2-1 and Locus 3-2, with losses to Mr.R 2-0 and Elegant 3-2. He later placed 25th at Frostbite 2017, losing to both Ned 2-0 and Somé 3-0.

While the beginning of the year wasn’t much in comparison to 2016, a month after Frostbite, he competed at 2GGC: Civil War. Despite it being one of the biggest tournaments in Smash 4 history, it was Fatality's best tournament run in his career. After defeating Trela to make it out of pools and having a close 3-2 set against Kome, he defeated komorikiri 3-1, reverse 3-0'd Nairo in one of the most famous sets in his career, but was upset by T 3-1 shortly after. Despite this, Fatality continued to be a threat in loser bracket. He beat Kirihara who was on the brink of reverse 3-0ing him, as well as 3-0ing CaptainZack and T, the latter win putting him in grand finals against Dabuz. In grand finals, he took the first game off of Dabuz's Olimar but then lost the next three games after Dabuz switched to Rosalina & Luma. After Civil War, he got a much lower placing of 33rd at CEO Dreamland losing to both ZD and Rideae 2-0.

His performance at MomoCon 2017 was a big improvement over CEO Dreamland. While MomoCon was significantly less stacked then Civil War, it was still a very notable run regardless. He defeated Sinji 2-1 and komorikiri 3-0 in winners bracket before losing to Larry Lurr 3-1. His losers run was the more notable part: Wrath and Salem 3-2; kameme 3-0; Larry Lurr 3-2 in their runback; and then fought against ZeRo in losers finals. His first two games against ZeRo were very quick, making a joke out of his usually threatening Diddy Kong and Sheik. ZeRo surprisingly picked Captain Falcon for the rest of the set, Fatality got two stocked in the mirror match for their game 3 but took game 4 in his favor, being the first and only time he took a set over ZeRo. He lost to Nairo 3-2 in grand finals and was the runner-up at the event.

Before the season came to a close, he placed 17th at CEO 2017, beating kameme and MuteAce in the process. He was ranked 15th on the PGR v3, a major jump with his Civil War and MomoCon tournament runs being noteworthy reasons.

He started the next season with EVO 2017, it was another underperformance of 2017, placing 33rd after losing to Mistake and 9B. A week later, he placed 17th at DreamHack Atlanta 2017, being double eliminated by Mr E. He was able to place 5th at Get On My Level 2017 after those two events, falling to SuperGirlKels and Larry Lurr, but didn't take wins over currently ranked PGR players at the event. He then placed 17th back-to-back at both Super Smash Con 2017 and 2GGC: SCR Saga. He lost to Salem 3-2 and Tweek 3-1 in the former and Nairo 3-0 and kameme 3-2 in the latter. A month later, he did take 1st place at a small but still notable tournament with Showdown: Battle Royale 2, defeating Rivers, WaDi, and double eliminated Manny. Shortly after, he underperformed at another notable tournament with 25th at GameTyrant Expo 2017, losing to ANTi and Zenyou.

His placements at 2GGC: GENESIS, Civil War, and SCR Saga qualified Fatality to attend 2GG Championship. However, he came in last place along with four other qualifiers, losing 3-0 in pools against ZeRo, Elegant, and Larry Lurr. This would be his last tournament of 2017.

The second half of 2017 never achieved the peak of the first half for the year for Fatality, placing out of top 16 at many notable tournaments, PGR v4 was a great drop with 38th place on the rankings

2018: The Final Lap for Smash 4

2018 would be a very strong year for Fatality, though he didn't have the same breakthroughs with Captain Falcon that he had in 2017. While he was upset by both Peli and Maister at GENESIS 5, he still placed 17th after taking sets from Deluxemenu, Cagt, and Aarvark in losers bracket.

Then was a short but strong streak of tournaments for Fatality. First was 5th place at Frostbite 2018, defeating Mew2King, Salem, and Cosmos, but lost to both Mistake and in his runback with Salem. He took second place at King of the Springs 3, taking sets from Dabuz, Cosmos, Samsora, and WaDi, but was double eliminated by Tweek. At Smash Masters League: Battle for Vegas, he had a very notable loser run after VoiD reverse 3-0'd him, eliminating Xzax, Salem, Larry Lurr, Cosmos, and most notably, Ally. He placed 4th after a reverse 3-0 by MkLeo after he made the switch to Bayonetta and cleaned up his play after his infamous self-destruct in game 2.

The next few tournaments were weaker performances, but still solid throughout. He attended MomoCon 2018 where he defeated NAKAT 2-0 and Komorikiri 3-0. He got sent to losers by Nairo 3-0 and was eliminated by Wrath 3-2. He placed 9th at the event, a much less dominant run than the year before. He placed 13th at CEO 2018 with losses to Raito and Tweek, but had a notable loser run with wins over Sinji, Mistake, and Larry Lurr. At Showdown: Battle Royale 3, Fatality placed 7th and defeated yeti and Blacktwins in the process, but lost to Larry Lurr and Zinoto.

With the aforementioned streak of top 8s and continuing to gather notable wins afterward, he jumped up nearly 25 places from the PGR v4, and was ranked 14th on the PGR v5, his best placement on the system.

For the remainder of the year, he garnered placements of 3rd at Smash Factor 7 and 17th at Super Smash Con 2018. But after Super Smash Con 2018, Fatality didn't attend any major tournaments for a few months until DreamHack Atlanta 2018. At the tournament, he defeated Epic_Gabriel, Ryo, and RFang before losing to both Tweek and Dark Wizzy, ending with placement of 9th.

DreamHack Atlanta 2018 was the last tournament to be ranked on the PGR and is currently the last Smash 4 tournament Fatality has attended. With Ultimate about to be released, the whole competitive scene for Smash 4 switched their focus to the game, including Fatality. On the PGR 100, he was ranked the 19th best Smash 4 player in the world, made possible with his sure dedication of playing solo Captain Falcon at top level.

Late 2018-2019: Struggles in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

At first, Fatality had a decent start in the very early metagame of Ultimate. He placed 9th at Super Splat Bros, falling to a reverse 3-0 by Ally and Teb 3-2. Later at Midwest Mayhem Ultimate, he took 7th place, as he lost to Bushi 3-1 and T 3-2.

GENESIS 6 was his first tournament with uncharacteristically low placement. He was defeated by MkLeo in a 2-0 set, falling to even take one stock off of him. He lost to Captain L in losers which put him at 65th, the first time he placed outside of top 64 since EVO 2015.

He had a better placement at a supermajor with Frostbite 2019. After losing in a 2-0 against Nairo, he went on a notable losers run, defeating Mr. E 3-2, Blank 3-2, ZD 3-1, until he lost 3-1 to Wishes, placing 17th. He then had his worst placement at a tournament up to that point, with 97th at Pound 2019, losing to SciFire 2-1 and Lemon 2-0.

After Pound 2019, it was starting to look better for Fatality. He placed 25th at MomoCon 2019, as he lost 3-0 by both Cosmos and Myran. His next tournament was DreamHack Dallas 2019 in which he defeated Sandstorm 2-0 and had a notable 3-0 over MVD. He was eliminated by ARMY, placing 5th at the event. He also placed 5th at Just Roll With It! 11, taking notable sets off of Kameme 3-1 and RFang 2-1 before being 3-0'd by Abadango and reverse 3-0'd by Peabnut.

Later at CEO 2019, he got 2-0'd by Sinji. He went on a losers run defeating Myran 2-0, Umeki 2-1 and 8BitMan 2-1, then was eliminated by Prodigy 2-0. He placed 17th at the event. While Fatality had a rough transition to Ultimate, his respectable placements at most majors and notable wins over top 20 players led to him getting ranked 48th on the Spring 2019 PGRU.

While an improvement from GENESIS 6 was seen with his top 32 placements at many supermajors, he, unfortunately, fell into a bigger drop in results. Although he had a decent start with 25th place at Low Tier City 7, he attended EVO 2019 and it became the worst placement in his career, with the placement of 129th. He was sent to losers fairly early by Flow and then eliminated from losers bracket by MastaMario.

He did much better at Super Smash Con 2019 shortly after, taking 2-0s over Puppeh, Plup, and Pelca. He had a close set against Nairo, but ultimately lost 2-1 and was eliminated by BlazingPasta 3-0, ending in the placement of 25th.

At the next few major tournaments, Fatality dropped potential wins over top players and was upset in losers bracket shortly after. He placed 33rd at Glitch 7 after he lost to Dabuz 2-1 and Mekos 2-0. And at The Big House 9, he lost to Cosmos 2-1 and Monty 2-0. The Big House 9 was another lackluster placement at a supermajor, placing 65th.

His results would be slightly better afterwards. For Syndicate 2019, he was voted to attend the tournament for its Ultimate compendium. He dropped a set in the Falcon mirror match against Ogey, then went on a strong losers run, defeating Whoophee, PurpleDebo, PeW, Supahsemmie, until a loss to Flow put him in 9th place.

He placed 17th at DreamHack Atlanta 2019, taking a win over Kola, but falling to ESAM and MuteAce. He ended the year with 25th at 2GG: Kongo Saga, falling to both WaDi and Cosmos. Due to very poor placements at half of the supermajors he attended and lack of notable PGRU wins, Fatality was not ranked on the Fall 2019 PGRU, the first time he missed out on the rankings since the beginning of his career.

His exclusion from the PGRU only pushed Fatality to play better, starting 2020 strong with Glitch 8. He defeated 6WX 2-0 to make it to LeoN, where Fatality took game 3 right before Leon performed a major comeback. Next was his set with Puppeh, beating him in a dominant 3-0. Although after these sets, Fatality's run started to fall apart. He lost to Dark Wizzy 3-1 and was eliminated by Mr. E 3-0, missing his chance to get top 8 at a major, but still placing 9th overall.

At Frostbite 2020 he was sent to losers by Aaron fairly early in a 2-0 set. He beat Doorstop 2-0, Rickles 2-0, and MastaMario 3-0, until he lost to LeoN 3-1, placing him at 33rd. Frostbite 2020 was also the first Ultimate tournament where Fatality used Mario, specifically against Brr, where he won the set 2-0.

Fatality was originally going to compete at CEO Dreamland 2020 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was one of the many top players who dropped out from the tournament. He has entered a couple of online tournaments during quarantine, achieving strong results such as 3rd at Ultimate Naifu Wars 12 and 4th at Domics' Atomic Arena.

Trivia

  • Fatality always takes a brief respite before and after each round to compose himself. He will also sometimes exercise in preparation.
  • Though Fatality was generally considered the best Captain Falcon player in the world for both Smash 4 and Ultimate, his record in the mirror match is less than exemplary:
  • Fatality has a tendency to underperform at EVO tournaments, often resulting in some of the lowest placements he has ever had in his career.
    • EVO 2015 was Fatality's worst placing at any Smash 4 tournament in his career, placing 65th at the tournament.
    • EVO 2019 was Fatality's worst placing at any Ultimate tournament in his career, placing 129th at the tournament.
  • After winning the Best Combo (Wii U) award at Super Smash Con 2017's Smashies Award Show, Fatality mentioned Isai as the one who inspired him to become a Smasher in the first place, and that he tries to model his own style of gameplay after Isai's. [10]
  • The tag 'Bunny' which he often uses in Tournaments is the name of one of his cats in Georgia.
  • Fatality, NickC, and Ogey, who are considered to be the best Captain Falcon players in Ultimate, share the same alternate costume, the Blood Falcon.
  • When Fatality is playing on stream, he sometimes says "Understandable" or "Understandable, have a nice day" after losing a stock.
  • Fatality is known for having a secondary crisis, failing to have one to cover bad matchups for Captain Falcon. When he was playing Smash 4, he tried out Meta Knight, Mario, Corrin, and even Jigglypuff, but ended up dropping all of them.
  • Fatality has a tendency of overextending on edgeguards and self-destructing because of it.
