Wizzrobe, often shortened to Wizzy, is a smasher from Apopka, Florida. He is renowned for his prowess across the series, being a prominent player of every Smash game.
He is best known for playing Super Smash Bros. Melee, having competed since 2012, where he is a Captain Falcon main. He is widely regarded as the greatest Melee Captain Falcon player of all time, and was also one of the overall best Melee players in the world in 2019. He is one of two Captain Falcon players to win a major, alongside Isai. In addition, he, Gahtzu, and Gravy are members of 20GX, a group dedicated to optimizing Captain Falcon. Aside from Melee, Wizzrobe is also well known for playing Yoshi in Smash 64, and is considered the all-time best Yoshi player in North America, as well as one of the best Yoshi players in the world between 2013 and 2019. He has won two majors in Smash 64, and remains the only Smash 64 major winner who has also won a major in a different Smash game.

He is most well known for playing Super Smash Bros. Melee, where he is a Captain Falcon main, and is widely considered the greatest Melee Captain Falcon player of all time and one of the best Melee players in the world prior to his hiatus. He, Gahtzu, and Gravy are members of 20GX, a group dedicated to optimizing Captain Falcon. Wizzrobe is currently ranked 8th on the SSBMRank Summer 2024 and was formerly ranked 3rd on the Central Florida Melee Power Rankings. Aside from maining Captain Falcon, he also has a strong Fox secondary.
Outside of 64 and Melee, Wizzrobe has made notable impacts in forwiiu, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Project M. In Smash 4, Wizzrobe played Sheik, and was mainly active in early metagame, eventually dropping the game by the end of 2016. Although he was never globally ranked, he has defeated some of the game's best players, including Ally at Smash 'N' Splash and Abadango at The Big House 5. Similarly, he was mainly active in Ultimates early metagame playing Wolf, and was best known for his run to 7th at Smash 'N' Splash 5 defeating Tweek along the way, becoming the only Melee player to place top eight in both Melee and the most recent Smash title at the same major, and also the lowest seed (having been seeded 97th) to place top 8 at an Ultimate major. Unlike with Smash 4, Wizzrobe continues to compete in Ultimate on occasion, most notably defeating Kobe at Cirque 3.5. Finally, Wizzrobe was considered the best Sonic player in Project M during the game's early years, and remains the Sonic player who has come closest to winning a Project M major.

Wizzrobe is also well known for playing Yoshi in Smash 64 and is considered the best Yoshi player in North America for Smash 64 and one of the best Yoshi players in the world alongside Kurabba and Prince, and is currently ranked 7th on the 2023 Smash 64 Power Rankings.

Wizzrobe also plays Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, where he is a Wolf main. He has taken sets off of top players such as Tweek, , saj, ScAtt, UtopianRay, and Poltergust. At Smash 'N' Splash 5, Wizzrobe won in Melee, and placed top 8 in the Ultimate bracket simultaneously, a result that has since not been repeated. Since he placed 7th as the 97th seed, Wizzrobe also holds the record for the lowest seed to place inside the top 8 at an Ultimate major and supermajor.

Wizzrobe had also participated in forwiiu in the game's early lifespan, maining Sheik. He was well known for being one of the best Sheik mains in the United States throughout 2015 and early 2016 and has taken sets off of Ally, Abadango, Fatality, Mr E, , and Reflex.

Wizzrobe played Sonic in Project M and was the best Sonic main in Project M prior to his retirement from the game.

Wizzrobe, often shortened to Wizzy, is a smasher from Apopka, Florida. He is renowned for his prowess across the series, being a prominent player in nearly every Super Smash Bros. game.

Outside of 64 and Melee, Wizzrobe has made notable impacts in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Super Smash Bros. Similarly, he was mainly active in Ultimate's early metagame playing Wolf, and was best known for his run to 7th at Smash 'N' Splash 5 defeating Tweek along the way, becoming the only Melee player to place top eight in both Melee and the most recent Smash title at the same major, and also the lowest seed (having been seeded 97th) to place top 8 at an Ultimate major.

Multigame Beginnings[edit]

Wizzrobe's first major was Apex 2013. While his placings in SSB and SSBM were mediocre, placing 33rd and 97th respectively, in PM, he placed 2nd, defeating Hungrybox and Leffen, before falling to TheReflexWonder. He would carry over this strong performance to Zenith 2013, which he won, dropping only one game to Hungrybox. He is often credited for the subsequent nerfing of Sonic in the later versions of PM.

The next year, he attended Apex 2014, having substantially improved outside of PM. In SSB, he placed 5th, defeating Kefit and Firo before being defeated by SuPeRbOoMfAn. He then advanced to Top 8 by defeating Star King. After beating JaimeHR, he lost to Mariguas. In SSBM he placed 49th.

At CEO 2014, Wizzrobe placed 2nd in PM, defeating ESAM and Mew2King, before being double eliminated by ZeRo. He won PM Doubles with Plup, double eliminating Mew2King and ZeRo. In SSBM he placed 5th, notably defeating Colbol. Attending Zenith 2014, in SSBM he repeated his CEO 2014 performance, placing 5th, upsetting Axe before losing to Hax and Zhu. In SSB, he placed 3rd, defeating The Z before losing to SuPeRbOoMfAn and KeroKeroppi. In PM, he placed a disappointing 9th, falling early to Junebug and then to Frozen.

One month later at Tipped Off 10, Wizzrobe won PM Singles, defeating Mew2King and Master Raven, and also won PM Doubles with Plup, defeating Mew2King and Hungrybox and ESAM and MVD. He also placed 4th in SSBM singles, where after losing to Axe, he made a Losers' run, defeating Twitch, Gahtzu, and Plup before losing to Colbol.

In July of 2016, at WTFox 2, in SSBM, Wizzrobe placed 4th, solidly defeating Hungrybox in a surprise upset. Wizzrobe went on to fall to Mango. He then defeated The Moon before falling to Mew2King in a close set. He placed 1st in SSB at the event.

The next month, Wizzrobe attended Super Smash Con 2016, where he took 2nd in SSB, defeating Isai, Prince, and Kurabba along the way, being double eliminated by SuPeRbOoMfAn. He placed 9th in SSBM at the event, defeating Ice before losing to Mango and Axe.

In January 2017, at Smash Conference LXIX, Wizzrobe scored 3-0 victories over both Hungrybox and SFAT placing 2nd to Mew2king in a 2-set Grand Finals(2-3, 1-3). Also in January, he placed 5th at GENESIS 4 in SSB, defeating SuPeRbOoMfAn for the first time.

In April 2017, he again scored 2nd, this time at the U.S. invitational Smash Rivalries with victories over ChuDat, DruggedFox and his first ever win over Mew2King (3-0). Wizzrobe, coming from Loser's Bracket, won the first set of Grand Finals over Hungrybox, but lost the second set.

In August 2017, he dropped from Melee at Super Smash Con 2017 to focus on 64, which he placed 5th in, losing to Zero in Winners Round 2 and then making a losers run until meeting SuPeRbOoMfAn in Losers Quarters. At this event, he also participated in the Smash Masters event, defeating ZeRo in finals to take 1st place.

Later that month, he took 1st at Shine 2017 in 64, double eliminating Alvin in Grand Finals after losing to him in Winners Finals, winning his first Smash 64 major.

In June 2019, Wizzrobe placed 1st at Smash 'N' Splash 5 in Melee, defeating Leffen, aMSa and double eliminating Hungrybox to win his first Melee major. In addition, he placed 7th in singles for SSBU, defeating Tweek and ScAtt, while losing to Ally in Winners Quarterfinals and Dabuz in Losers Top 8.

Finally getting a well-deserved sponsor with all his accomplishments, he was picked up by Team Envy on June 26th, 2019.[1]

In November 2021, Wizzrobe would earn his second Melee major victory at Mainstage 2021, defeating Lucky, Axe, Ginger, and once again double eliminating Hungrybox.

Trivia[edit]

  • Wizzrobe is notorious for his frequent long startups before matches. It usually takes minutes for him to prepare himself before starting the match. People have criticized this as stalling, and accused him of attempting to "ice out" his opponents. Wizzrobe has responded by stating that it helps him mentally due to his ADD.
  • Wizzrobe was trained by fellow SSB Yoshi player SheerMadness.
  • He is known for his excellent tech-chase game and credits it from practicing with level 9 CPUs.
  • His name is derived from the Wizzrobe enemy from The Legend of Zelda series, which he also speedruns, specifically The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
  • Wizzrobe humorously stated after losing to Hungrybox at Smash Rivalries that he would continue to exist as a human further into infinity.
  • Wizzrobe is the first (and so far, only) person to place top 8 for both Ultimate and Melee in the same major tournament, doing so at Smash 'N' Splash 5.
  • Wizzrobe is the first Captain Falcon main to have won a major tournament since Isai at MOAST 3, doing so at Smash 'N' Splash 5.
    • Ironically, despite widely being considered the best Captain Falcon player in the world, he tends to struggle in the ditto match against other top Captain Falcon players, with known examples of this being his loss against S2J at Get On My Level 2019 and Gahtzu at CEO 2019.
  • Wizzrobe has defeated 5 of the members of the 2018 MPGR top 6 (all but Armada), defeating Hungrybox at a 2014 Florida local, Mew2King at Smash Rivalries, Leffen at DreamHack Winter 2017, Plup at CEO 2019, and Mango at Summit Champions League - Season 2 Week 3.
  • Prior to him getting sponsored by Envy, it was a common joke for crowds to chant for Wizzrobe to be sponsored after he performs well.
