Final Destination (終点, roughly translated as "Endpoint"), also referred to as Master Hand's Residence, is a stage exclusive to the 1P Game of Super Smash Bros., and thus, unlike its successors' Final Destination stages, isn't playable in Versus Mode. This stage was featured as the last level of 1P Mode, where the player fights Master Hand. Like its successors in Melee and in Brawl, this stage is completely flat. The platform's central design is a yellow, temple like structure. It can be interesting to note that the background changes depending on Master Hand's HP. The background starts out in space with stars visible, then changes into a cloudy area when HP is depleted to 210, then to a wormhole at 120 HP, and then the wormhole drastically accelerates when HP is depleted to 30.
Accessibility
The player would be transported to this stage after defeating the Fighting Polygon Team in the 1P Game. It is not usable in Vs. Mode, though it can be accessed with cheating devices. One needs to enable the code that makes this stage the only one fought in 1P Game, as the game will freeze if it is accessed normally through the debug menu. There are cheats where it mods the 1P mode to only play this stage and act like VS. mode and is started up by choosing 1P mode. The game will show that the player is entering the first stage, but starts the match on Final Destination. By using more cheats, It will allow up to 4 players and using a stock modifier, you can set the amount of lives for everyone. The player can use character modifier to choose the opponent players and their own. If the character modifier cheat is off, for P1 it will start as the character the player choose on the select screen, P2 will be link, P3 and P4, if included, will crash without a chosen character. After the match, if P1 wins, it will show the 1P results screen. If another player wins, the game will go to the continue screen. This property is unique to Final Destination among all of the stages in Super Smash Bros., even including its other hacked stages.
Nomenclature
The name "Final Destination" is retroactively applied to this stage, as redesigns of this stage that have appeared in later games in the series share that name. As all three share the same Japanese name: Final Point (終点, Shūten), it can be inferred that this stage would also be known as Final Destination.
