Crate.

A Crate is a container item that is in in SSB, SSBM, and SSBB. It can be picked up and thrown or hit to be opened. While holding a crate, a character's speed is drastically decreased and they will not be able to jump or attack.

• May store an enemy.
• If thrown and hits an opponent, it does 18-22% damage and little knockback.
• If thrown, hits an opponent, and then explodes, it does 49% damage and a lot of knockback
• Another way to open the crate is to hit it until it reaches the equivalent of 30%.
• In SSB, DK is the only character who can move with a crate or throw in any direction. Other characters can only throw forward.

Crates return in SSBB and have different appearances, depending on the stage they appear on. For example, a crate on the Yoshi's Island stage will look like a gift box. Also introduced are crates with wheels on them, called "Sliding Boxes", which will slide down slopes and probably move when hit. Also new to Brawl is the ability to stand on top of Crates and Barrels. In addition, exploding crates are clearly marked as being explosive and cannot be thrown as far. Crates and Explosive Crates appear on SSSB's item switch.

It will also appear as a trophy in Brawl.
