Cosmos, formerly known as CosmicCosmos, is a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Pyra and Mythra player from Dallas, Texas who is currently residing in Cleveland, Ohio. He initially played Inkling, picked up Pikachu following a dip in performance, and played Corrin for most of the online era. He was considered the best Inkling player in the early metagame, the best Corrin player in the online metagame for the United States, and is currently the best solo Pyra and Mythra player in the world. Cosmos is currently ranked 13th on the OrionRank 2022 North America, 27th on the OrionRank 2022, and 24th on the UltRank 2022; he was also formerly ranked 1st on the Ohio Smash Ultimate Power Rankings and 36th on the Wi-Fi Warrior Rank v6.

In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Cosmos played Corrin, and was considered the best Corrin player in the world. He began as an online player from Texas before moving to Ohio. He had a breakout tournament at The Big House 7, where he defeated ZeRo, Salem, and VoiD, en route to a 3rd place finish. He would continue to rise in 2018, consistently placing at or near the top 8 at major tournaments, which culminated in his victory at The Big House 8, the only time a Corrin player won a major. Cosmos is ranked 30th on Panda Global Rankings 100 and was formerly ranked 1st on the Ohio Smash 4 Power Rankings and 2nd on the Texas Smash 4 Power Rankings.

Cosmos is also a prominent doubles player, having seen high placements with many different partners at several national tournaments in both games.

Cosmos was signed by Panda[1] on July 26th, 2018, but left on November 8th, 2019.[2] He would later join beastcoast[3] on January 28th, 2022.

Playstyle

Cosmos is characterized by his aggressive decision making and heavier utilization of Mythra compared to other top Pyra and Mythra players. He spends the majority of a stock on Mythra, using her quick mobility and strong frame data to rack up damage and force opponents into disadvantageous situations. Cosmos often switches to Pyra once they reach a high enough percent or if they're put off-stage; his Pyra is known for attempting hard reads with forward smash due to her extreme kill power. He is also known for being proficient in the ditto, forcing both Sparg0 and MkLeo to switch off at Smash World Tour 2021 Finale.

However, due to his aggression Cosmos is also known to "choke", often losing games where he originally took a lead in stocks or percentage. His inconsistent playstyle leads him to have high highs, such as winning Glitch - Infinite and Shine 2022, but also low lows, such as his underperformance at Collision 2022.

Trivia

  • Similar to Fatality, although Cosmos in SSB4 was generally considered the best Corrin player in the world, his record in the mirror match was less than exemplary:
  • In Ultimate, Cosmos has had similar trouble in the Corrin matchup, albeit not in the ditto.
    • Against fellow Corrin player SHADIC, Cosmos has a negative record of 0-2 in set count.
  • 2GGC: Nairo Saga was Cosmos's worst placing at any SSB4 tournament in his career, placing 65th at the tournament, losing to both PiXL and Elegant 0-2 in pools.
  • Cosmos is known for playing radically different in the middle of a game, most notably in ones where he leads at first but ultimately loses. This has resulted in people calling him the "Green Goblin" when this happens, mainly due to how dramatically his decision making changes, similar to the character of origin. This term was coined by Nairo[4], and the meme has gone so far to be mentioned in his article on the PGRU v3.[5]
  • Aside from competitive Smash, Cosmos is also a content creator with over 100,000 subs on his YouTube channel. He is best known for his "Reading a [character] player's mind" series.
