Peach (ピーチ, Peach) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4. She was confirmed on September 12th, 2013,[1] the day before the 28th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., the landmark NES game in which she debuted in. She is among the first wave of compatible amiibo figures.
She is voiced by Samantha Kelly with the same voice clips from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. [2][3]
Changes from Brawl
While her moveset appears to be relatively unchanged, Peach has been notably buffed overall from Super Smash Bros. Brawl to SSB4. Her ground game has been particularly improved thanks to her stronger smashes, faster Peach Bomber and tilt attacks leading to many follow ups. Futhermore, her dash attack, forward aerial and back throw received significant increases in knockback, filling out her lack of finishing moves, a prominent weakness she had in Brawl. Likewise, Peach's approaches from below are safer with the gain of a new up aerial. She also has a slightly easier time to defend juggles and aerial followups due to her improved air dodge and slightly faster falling speed. While almost all of her attacks now deal less damage and her Vegetable was slightly nerfed, these nerfs are largely mitigated by the noticeable improvements to her survivability and KO game.
Aesthetics
- Peach has a new running animation based on her running animation from Super Mario 3D World.
- Many new animations accompany Peach's established attacks in the form of hearts, rainbows, and magic sparkles.
- The underside of Peach's dress is now darkened, obscuring her undergarments.
Attributes
- Double jump has greater vertical height.
- Peach's dashes slightly faster (1.35 → 1.4175).
- Peach's air speed is slightly higher (0.893 → 0.95).
- Her air dodge has more invincibility frames and less ending lag, which has ended its status as the worst air dodge among the cast.
- Peach is slightly lighter than she was in Melee and Brawl (90 → 89).
- Peach falls slightly faster (1.05 → 1.15).
Ground attacks
- Jab combo has less range and deals less damage (6% → 5%).
- Dash attack's second hit deals more damage (4% → 6%) and has more growth (125 → 150), making it a reliable KO move. The first hit also no longer has knockback growth, so the hits always connect even at higher percentages.
- Forward tilt and down tilt are faster and deal increased hitstun, benefiting their combo potential.
- Forward tilt deals less damage (6%/10%/11%/13% → 6%/7%/8%), but its knockback was compensated.
- Down tilt deals less damage (10% → 7%) without proper compensation on its knockback.
- Up tilt's sweetspot has a much less favorable placement, covering a small part of Peach's body, as opposed to her blast in Brawl. Furthermore, the sourspot is weaker in both damage (10%/13% → 8%/10%) and knockback.
- Forward smash has greater range and knockback. It also cycles regularly between a tennis racket, a golf club, and frying pan.
- Up smash sourspots deal more damage (8% → 12%) and knockback (40 base/100 growth → 60 base/100 growth). The 15% sweetspot deals more knockback as well (40 base/100 growth → 50 base/97 growth.)
- Up smash 17% sweetspot deals less knockback (40 base/100 growth → 27 base/97 growth).
- Down smash has a greater amount of possible hits (4 → 5), deals drastically more knockback (38 base/80 growth → 40 base/180 growth), and gained the ability to trap opponents into it, allowing each further hit to connect more reliably, no longer being the worst down smash.
- Down smash deals less damage (20% → 15%).
Aerial attacks
- Neutral aerial hits on frame 5 instead of 3 and the late hits deal less damage (9%/10% → 5%/6%).
- Forward aerial has more knockback (60 base/68 growth → 45 base/84 growth) and greater reach, allowing Peach to strike opponents farther forward as well as above and under her.
- Forward aerial and back aerials auto-cancel later.
- Back aerial initial hit deals less damage (13%/14% → 12%) with its knockback compensated however.
- Peach gained a new up aerial: an arm swipe that draws a rainbow. It consists of two hits dealing 4% and 6% respectively. It has greater reach, a disjointed hitbox, and better juggling abilities. The first hit has a very weak meteor smash that allows Peach to follow up with an attack that comes out on frame 10 or below, if she cancels it into the ground quickly.
- New up aerial deals less damage (11%/12%/13% → 10%) and its knockback was not compensated properly, making it weaker.
- Down aerial deals less (14% → 11%).
- Down aerial last hit deals slightly more knockback (40 base/120 growth → 60 base/110 growth) and is much harder to SDI out of.
Throws/other attacks
- Back throw has received a significant increase in knockback (70 base/40 growth → 35 base/95 growth), making it her strongest throw.
- Down throw deals slightly more damage (7% → 8%) and has a good follow-up angle (108 → 106).
Special moves
- Toad's spores are stronger at close range and also turns Peach around when she is hit from behind. Toad also deals 3 more possible hits and also 2% more damage if all the hits connect.
- Peach Bomber is much faster and gained the ability to hit shields.
- Peach Bomber deals less damage (15% → 10%) and its knockback was not compensated properly.
- Peach Parasol is faster and covers more vertical height.
- Peach Parasol's last hit has less knockback overall (60 base/120 growth → 90 base/70 growth).
- Peach Parasol no longer has a slash effect, instead it has a magic effect.
- Vegetable has an increased chance of pulling out "Stitchface" turnips, Bob-ombs and Mr. Saturns.
- Vegetable takes slightly longer to be plucked and can no longer spawn Beam Swords.
- Peach Blossom is now capable of putting aerial opponents to sleep.
- Peach Blossom deals less total damage (40% → 30%), has much less range and puts opponents to sleep for less time.
- Peach Blossom spawns three large peaches that each heal 20% damage, as opposed to thirteen normal-sized peaches that each heal 5%. While the total healing is slightly less (65% → 60%), the significantly reduced number of peaches makes it faster for Peach to pick them all up.
Moveset
Name | Damage | Description | ||
---|---|---|---|---|
Neutral attack | 2% | Slaps the enemy twice. | ||
3% | ||||
Forward tilt | 8% (sweet spot) / 7% (sour spot) | Kicks forward 180 degrees from low to high. | ||
Up tilt | 10% (body) / 8% (blast) | Arm extended upward and a pink heart blasts above her head, dealing damage. | ||
Down tilt | 7% | A downward sweep of the hand to the ground. This move can meteor smash with good knockback when sweetspotted. One of the strongest down tilt meteor smash in the game. Can follow-up into a Forward Smash at lower percents, forward or up air at mid percents, and hardly into an Up B at higher percents. | ||
Dash attack | 4% (hit 1), 6% (hit 2) | Strikes with both arms extended forward, then quickly spreads her arms out. Unlike in Brawl, the first hit's knockback never grows, so both hits nearly always connect. Second hit has some knockback. | ||
Forward smash | 15% (club), 18% (pan), 13% (racket) | Strikes with a bludgeon, cycling regularly between a golf club, frying pan, or a tennis racket. Each weapon has different properties - the frying pan has more vertical knockback (and the most damge), the golf club has more diagonal knockback (and the most range), and the tennis racket has more horizontal knockback. | ||
Up smash | 15% (body) / 12% (hand) | Raises arm and twirls a pink ribbon. Powerful vertical knockback. Powerful vertical knockback if sweetspotted (Peach's body, as opposed to her arm). | ||
Down smash | 2%/3% x5 | Spins dress around like a blade, slashing whoever gets caught in it. Decent knockback (lower than Melee's, higher than Brawl's). | ||
Neutral aerial | 13% (clean) / 6% (late) | Spins around at an angle with arms extended, dealing damage to her left and right sides. | ||
Forward aerial | 15% | Peach grabs the crown off her head and strikes with it in a vertical arc. Some startup lag and a lot of ending lag. A visible flash occurs at the start of her swing. Great knockback. | ||
Back aerial | 12% | Peach strikes behind her with her butt. Low startup lag, making it quicker than her forward aerial, but has notable ending lag. | ||
Up aerial | 4% (hit 1), 6% (hit 2) | Strikes above her head with arms from left to right, creating rainbow trails and launching targets upward. Good for juggles. First hit meteor smashes very weakly with set knockback and can follow up into a attacks, if she cancels it very quickly to the ground. | ||
Down aerial | 2% (hits 1-3), 5% (hit 4) | Kicks straight downwards four times. Long duration. Fourth kick has some vertical knockback. | ||
Grab | — | |||
Pummel | 2% | Kicks the opponent's shin. Relatively fast pummel. | ||
Forward throw | 2% (hit 1), 8% (throw) | Peach winds up and slaps the opponent away. Decent knockback. | ||
Back throw | 2% (hit 1), 9% (throw) | Places opponent behind her and bumps him/her away with her rear. Great knockback. This is now her strongest throw, as opposed to her forward throw in past games. | ||
Up throw | 2% (hit 1), 6% (throw) | Puts opponent above her, and strikes him/her upward. | ||
Down throw | 1% (hit 1), 7% (throw) | Puts opponent lying face-up on the ground and sits on him/her, creating upwards knockback. Great for combos. | ||
Forward roll Back roll Spot dodge Air dodge |
— | — | ||
Techs | — | — | ||
Floor attack (front) Floor getups (front) |
8% (hit 2 legs) / 6% (otherwise)? | Swirls around in a similar fashion to Mario's down smash. Unusually for a floor attack, part of it does more than 6% damage. | ||
Floor attack (back) Floor getups (back) |
6%? | Peach swings her legs around. | ||
Floor attack (trip) Floor getups (trip) |
5%? | Two kicks to either side. | ||
Edge attack Edge getups |
7% | While getting up, swipes forward with a hand at ground-level. | ||
Neutral special | Default | Toad | 2% (hits 1-9) | Toad is equipped by Peach and used as an unwilling counter. In other words, he absorbs damage dealt to his princess before releasing it back. |
Custom 1 | Sleepy Toad | 0% | Sleepy Toad comes out faster and releases bubbles to inflict the sleep status ailment for a brief amount of time to grounded opponents. Airborne opponents will be pushed back. Sleep duration lasts longer at high percentages. It has slightly slower ending lag. | |
Custom 2 | Grumpy Toad | 1% (hits 1-9) | Grumpy Toad, unlike regular Toad and Sleepy Toad, doesn't act like a counter. Instead, he automatically releases spores to deal minor damage to opponents. | |
Side special | Default | Peach Bomber | 10% | Peach Bomber propels Peach forward to deliver a powerful hip bash. |
Custom 1 | Flower Bomber | 4% | Flower Bomber travels on a much shorter distance than regular Peach Bomber. Opponents hit by it will be inflicted the flower status ailment. It deals less base damage (4%, down from 10%). | |
Custom 2 | Flying Peach Bomber | 12% | Flying Peach Bomber travels upward in addition of farther forward. It is harder to land, but it deals more knockback and damage (12%, up from 10%). | |
Up special | Default | Peach Parasol | 1-3% (hit 1), 1% (hit 2-4), 4% (hit 5) | Peach Parasol allows Peach to perform an upward jump and simultaneously pull out her parasol, jabbing those above her in the process. It can then be used as a directional glide and opened or closed at will. |
Custom 1 | Parasol High Jump | 0% | Parasol High Jump greatly increases Peach's upward jump. However, it deals no damage and she never opens her parasol, leaving herself helpless afterwards. | |
Custom 2 | Light Parasol | 3% | Light Parasol decreases Peach's initial jump. However, she gains additional vertical recovery every time she opens up her parasol. This lasts long enough to open it up to four times while airborn. After that duration, Peach will become helpless. [4] | |
Down special | Default | Vegetable | Varies | Vegetable is a projectile Peach can pluck from the ground as she does in Super Mario Bros. 2. She can then throw it. Its face determines how much damage it will do. Along with turnips, Peach can pull out Mr. Saturns and Bob-ombs. |
Custom 1 | Light Veggie | Varies | Light Veggie is plucked much faster (in a similar way to Brawl's Vegetable) while dealing less damage. It travels the air more slowly and farther ahead. It will also fly back toward Peach if it hits an opponent. The move will fail if there's already two Light Veggies out. | |
Custom 2 | Heavy Veggie | Varies | Heavy Veggie takes longer to be plucked. It flies faster, but may not be thrown as far. It deals considerably more damage and knockback. | |
Final Smash | Peach Blossom | 0-30% | Everyone goes to sleep. Sleep duration is notably shorter than in Brawl. Three giant peaches appear, each healing 20%. |
Taunts
- Takes out and twirls her parasol. She says "sweet" as she does this.
- Dances in a taunting manner as little music notes flutter around her. She sings a little tune similar to "Ring Around the Rosie".
- Spins around once. She then winks and points with her index finger in a somewhat bent posture and says "Uh-huh!" In the 3DS version, if Peach is facing left, she will wave instead of pointing her finger.
Idle Poses
- Looks over her shoulders and rubs something off her dress.
- Raises arms up and stretches.
- Adjusts her ring before raising her hand and looking at it.
- Fiddles with hair.
On-Screen Appearance
Appears spinning out of a shower of hearts, then winks and poses with her parasol saying "Hi!".
Victory Fanfare
A flourished remix directly from Brawl based on the sound clip that would play when Mario reaches the end of a level in Super Mario Bros. It is shared with Mario, Luigi, and Dr. Mario.

- PeachPose3WiiU.png
- Twirls with hearts surrounding her, poses, then says "This is fun!" This replaces her old victory animation where holds her hands together.
- Twirls around, and waves, saying "Oh, did I win?"
- Swings her arm out and puts it behind her, saying "Peachy!"

Trophies
- Peach
- Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach continues to prove that "powerful" and "cute" are not mutually exclusive. In Smash Bros., Peach uses her dress to float above the fray, suddenly descending and attacking with numerous weapons. A frying pan? Umbrella? TOAD?! Where does she keep it all?
- The Mushroom Kingdom's princess isn't just a pretty face - she's also strong and crafty. She can dodge attacks by gliding through the air, and she's hiding all sorts of stuff under that dress: a frying pan, a tennis, a golf club...even a Toad! If you're planning to take on Peach, just know that she's more than ready for you!

- Peach (Alt.)
- Peach may be a princess, but that doesn't mean she shies away from an honest day's work. Her down special Vegetable is basically farm labor, and the fruits...er, vegetables of her work can be thrown. An angry-looking vegetable will do extra damage, too! She can also pull up Bob-ombs, or even a Mr. Saturn!
- Peach normally sticks to tasks befitting a royal, but her Vegetable special is pretty much farm labour! You can tell how much damage the veggies will do by looking a them. Happy/indifferent ones just do a bit, while the ones that just look sick of life do a lot. And the ones that look like Bob-ombs or Mr. Saturn aren't veggies at all!

- Peach Blossom
- Peach's Final Smash is quite a spectacle to behold. Giant illustrations of Peach herself frame the screen, giant peaches rain down, and all the other fighters fall asleep. The closer they are to Peach, the longer they'll stay snoozing, giving Peach plenty of time to send foes flying or to recover her health with the peaches.

Trivia
- In the 3DS version of the game, a bug existed wherein using Peach's Vegetable move in For Glory mode would rarely trigger an automatic ban for "dishonest play".[5] It is unclear what the cause of the glitch was, but the main theories involve the player being flagged as having an illegitimate item. Nintendo acknowledged the glitch and released an update that fixed this issue.[6]
- When a player is off stage and the CPU is Peach, she will usually float without using aerial attacks. This is considered a flaw in the AI, particularly an easy win if the player KO's the CPU.
