Peach (SSB4)/Up smash
Overview[edit]
Peach twirls around with her arm raised while simultaneously twirling a pink ribbon around herself.
This clean hit of this attack has strong vertical knockback when hitting the sweetspots located on her upper body (15%) and her raised arm (17%). While the arm sweetspot deals more damage than the upper body sweetspot, the upper body sweetspot will still KO 5-10% earlier due to having significantly higher base knockback. The sourspots located on her left and right sides deal 12% and KO considerably later than the sweetspots, though they will still KO at reasonable percentages. The late hit of this attack has surprisingly strong vertical knockback, despite dealing less damage compared to the clean hit. Both the late arm hitbox (12%) and the late body hitbox (10%) will KO earlier than the sourspots on the clean hit.
The clean arm sweetspot is quite narrow and tends to only hit against opponents directly above Peach. However, it is also the only clean sweetspot that can reach opponents standing on the middle-height platforms of Battlefield. This makes it a very potent attack to use when tech-chasing opponents on those platforms, though it requires a hard read to land the narrow hitbox. The clean upper body sweetspot can fairly reliably hit opponents standing right next to Peach, but has difficulty hitting opponents who are short, are crouching, or are asleep. The latter is notable as Peach cannot reliably use her up smash as a strong punish against opponents put to sleep by Peach Blossom.
While the hitboxes are active, Peach has intangibility on her arm and head. This allows her up smash to act as a strong, but committal anti-air attack.
Due to having moderate startup lag (14 frames) and the sourspots being located on Peach's sides, her up smash is quite limited as an out of shield option. Even against poorly-spaced aerial attacks, the sourspots tend to hit opponents when trying to use Peach's up smash as an OoS option. Not only does the opponent have to land directly on top of Peach, but their aerial's landing lag animation must also shift their hurtbox high enough to overlap with the sweetspot of Peach's up smash.

Trivia[edit]
- In an early screenshot showcasing the new ribbon effect for Peach's up smash, it produced the normal effect on hit. In the final game, her up smash produces the stab effect on hit.
