Luigi (ルイージ, Ruīji) will be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4. He was announced during the Nintendo Direct on August 7, 2013, as part of Nintendo's "Year of Luigi". Like Mario, Luigi has a more cartoonish and sleeker appearance instead of the more realistic look he had in Brawl, that's more inline with his appearance in the Mario games.

Confirmed information

• The following moves are visually unchanged:
  • Crawling animation
  • Neutral attacks
  • Forward tilt
  • Up tilt
  • Dash attack
  • All smashes
  • Neutral aerial
  • Forward aerial
  • Fireball
  • Green Missile
  • Super Jump Punch
  • Luigi Cyclone
  • He retains all of his taunts, including down taunt meteor smash.
• Luigi retains his red, orange, and blue palette swaps.
• Luigi has a new jumping animation where he pedals his legs, a reference to the scuttle ability he has in the Mario games.
• The Poltergust 5000 is Luigi's new Final Smash.

Special Moves

In Super Smash Bros. 4, special moves can be swapped out for different variants, but Luigi's have yet to be seen. All of Luigi's original special moves remain the same, but he gains a new final smash that seemingly replaces Negative Zone. These are Mario's special moves:
