He can overwhelm his opponents with his quick movements, and his specials don't leave him open for counterattacks. His costume and voice have been redone to match his appearance in Star Fox Zero. This Fox is brand new! "Come on!"

Aesthetics

  • Change Fox's design is now a combination of his appearances in Star Fox Zero and Super Smash Bros. 4. His flight suit and headset are from Zero, whereas the rest of his design is from SSB4. The proportions of his head have been slightly altered, and his fur is more pronounced. Fox now also has visible whiskers. Lastly, the aesthetic used in Ultimate has resulted in Fox's overall color scheme being more subdue.
  • Change Like all characters, Fox is significantly more expressive than in previous games.
  • Change Up taunt has a different ending animation, saying "Let's Go!" instead of "Here I come!".
  • Change Side taunt has an altered animation: Fox now spins his Blaster in his hand rather than tossing it in the air.
  • Change Fox's victory animation that is based on his character selection from Smash 64 has the camera behind Fox, rather than in front of him. [1]
  • Change Fox has a slightly altered entrance animation. [2]
  • Change Fox has a slightly altered walking animation.

Attributes

  • Buff Like all characters, Fox's jumpsquat animation now takes three frames to complete (down from 4).
  • Buff Fox dashes significantly faster.
  • Nerf Fox is slightly lighter, now lighter than Kirby.

Ground attacks

  • Change Neutral attack has an altered animation, with Fox standing more upright rather than lunging forward.
  • Change Up tilt has increased knockback. This improves its KO potential, but worsens its combo potential at higher percents.
  • Buff Sourspotted down tilt sends opponents at a better angle for combos.
  • Buff Forward smash has significantly higher knockback.
    • Nerf Forward smash travels a shorter distance.
  • Change Up smash's ending animation has been modified: Fox now does a three point landing after doing his up smash.
    • Buff Up smash has a significantly larger hitbox, now being able to hit characters from the bottom platforms of Battlefield.

Aerial attacks

  • Buff All aerials have less landing lag.
  • Forward aerial:
    • Buff Forward aerial has a greater hover effect, aiding Fox's recovery.
    • Nerf Forward aerial connects less reliably.
    • Change Forward aerial now has a landing hitbox, which improves its utility in landing but may hinder its tech-chasing capabilities.
    • Change Forward aerial has an altered animation.
  • Buff Back aerial has more knockback.
    • Change Back aerial has an altered animation, with Fox facing more towards the screen.
  • Nerf The second hit of up aerial deals less damage.

Throws/other attacks

  • Nerf Standing grab and dash grab have increased ending lag.
  • Change Pummel is slower. However, Fox can still get as many pummels in a single grab as he could in Smash 4.
  • Nerf Down throw has less follow up potential.

Special Moves

  • Fox Illusion:
    • Buff Fox Illusion deals more damage.
    • Nerf Fox Illusion has more startup lag and slightly less range. Also, the move will immediately halt when it hits a shielded opponent.
  • Fire Fox:
    • Change Fire Fox deals less damage on the initial hits, but this is made up by increased damage on the final hit.
    • Change Fire Fox's charging animation has been altered, and Fox glances up before firing.
    • Nerf Fire Fox travels a shorter distance.
  • Reflector:
    • Nerf Reflector can only stall Fox once in the air before landing.
    • Buff Reflector comes out faster and has less end lag.
    • Change Reflector appears to be more green in color.
  • Change Fox has a new Final Smash called Team Star Fox, which involves an Arwing strike. Upon activating, Fox yells, "It's go time!" If the Arwings sucessfully catch their target, Fox yells, "Star Fox! Fire at Will!" with it captioned on screen during the cinematic.
    • Change If Team Star Fox is used against Wolf, Fox will say, "This is the end for you, Wolf!"

Role in World of Light

Fox was among the fighters that were on the cliffside that gathered to defeat the army of Master Hands.

Fox was issuing orders to the other fighters, telling them, "Don't let a single one get away", referring to the army of Master Hands. Fox was also present on the cliffside when Galeem unleashed its beams of light. He was vaporized offscreen, and was transformed into a spirit alongside the other fighters (excluding Kirby). His puppet fighter is later seen along with Simon, Mario, and others.
