Galeem (キーラ, Kiira) is the main antagonist of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Adventure Mode: World of Light, described as "Lord of Light" and the "ultimate enemy" in the World of Light. Prior to the events of the mode, Galeem attacks the fighters, commanding an army of Master Hands. He seemingly wipes out all traces of life in existence with the sole exception of Kirby and engulfs the entire universe in a burst of light, remaking it into a merged reality, comprised of various universes. This new reality ends up being inhabited by the hostile souls of those that Galeem had killed in his apocalyptic attack and the clones of the fighters who stood against him, following their trophies being held captive by Galeem.

Trivia

  • Galeem's name is a corruption of the word "gleam," and his name in Japanese is a corruption of the Japanese onomatopoeia "キラキラ" (shine, twinkle). Both names are tied to the Adventure Mode motif of light.
    • Kiira is additionally similar to the Japanese transliteration of "killer" (キラー, Kiraa), using the same characters aside from the placement of the long-vowel mark.
  • The wings on Galeem's body glow in the same colors as the ones on the Super Smash Bros. 4 logos.
  • His appearance as an ethereal being of light with six wings resembles Seraphim.
    • In the Abrahamic religions, the appearance of a Seraph in the mortal realm signifies the end of the world. This reflects Galeem's role in World of Light as the one who attempted to destroy everyone in existence, turning them all into Spirits.
