Revision as of 17:15, April 30, 2019
The following is the list of the Spirits that are left unsorted by game series in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. There are a total of 113 different games or series represented in the list. These series are ordered by the console they debuted on and the year their first game (or in the case for some third-party series, Nintendo-published installment) released. For example, all series that debuted on the Game Boy are listed before the ones that debuted on the SNES/Super Famicom, regardless of whether a SNES series predates a Game Boy one.

Trivia
- Several third-party series are ordered by the console and year their first Nintendo-published installment was released rather than being listed with the miscellaneous third-party series, which starts from Boss Galaga and ends with Risky Boots from the Shantae series.
- SimCity was first published by Maxis for the Amiga and Macintosh in 1989, but it is listed with the SNES series, as the version of SimCity for that console was published by Nintendo in 1991.
- Chee-Chai Alien was first published by Creatures Inc. for the Game Boy Color in 2001, but it is listed with the Game Boy Advance series, as Nonono Puzzle Chalien for the Game Boy Advance was published by Nintendo in 2005.
- The Tower was first published by OPeNBooK (now known as Vivarium) for Microsoft Windows and Macintosh System 7 in 1994, but it is listed with the Game Boy Advance series, as The Tower SP for the Game Boy Advance was published by Nintendo in Japan in 2005.
- Glory of Heracles was first published by Data East for the Famicom in 1987, but it is listed with the Nintendo DS series, as Glory of Heracles: Proof of the Soul for the Nintendo DS was published by Nintendo in 2008.
- Fatal Frame was first published by Tecmo for the PlayStation 2 in 2001, but it is listed with the Wii series, as Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse for the Wii was published by Nintendo in 2008.
- Culdcept was first published by OmiyaSoft for the Sega Saturn in 1997, but it is listed with the Nintendo 3DS series, as the first installment for the 3DS was published by Nintendo in 2012.
- Rayman was first published by Ubisoft for the Atari Jaguar in 1995, but it is listed with the Wii U series, as Rayman Legends for the Wii U was published by Nintendo in Japan in 2013.
- Shovel Knight was first published by Yacht Club Games for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U in 2014, but it is listed with the Nintendo 3DS series, as the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions of Shovel Knight were published by Nintendo in Japan in 2016. However, it is listed between the Dillon's Rolling Western series and the Culdcept series, despite both Dillon's Rolling Western and the first Nintendo-published Culdcept installment being released in 2012.
- However, prior to the 1.1.0 update, Shovel Knight was listed after Rayman as the last series to debut on the Wii U, a more accurate ordering.
- Baten Kaitos is the only third-party series to be listed with the first-party series, but not be ordered by its first Nintendo-published installment. Rather than being listed as the last series to debut on the Nintendo GameCube, it is listed between GiFTPiA (which debuted in 2003) and Chibi-Robo (which debuted in 2005). This is despite the fact that the first game in the series, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, was published by Namco in 2003, while the prequel, Baten Kaitos Origins (which Sagi and Milly appear in), was published by Nintendo in 2006.
- Similarly, some first-party series are ordered by the release date of specific installments rather than their first installment.
- The MONSTER's ordering is based on the release date of Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally, rather than Famicom Grand Prix: F-1 Race.
- Ayumi Tachibana's ordering is based on the release date of Famicom Tantei Club Part II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shōjo, rather than Famicom Tantei Club: Kieta Kōkeisha.
- Chef's ordering is based on the release date of Personal Trainer: Cooking, rather than Shaberu! DS Oryōri Navi.
- The Nintendogs series' ordering is based on the release date of Nintendogs + Cats, rather than the original Nintendogs. In addition, this results in it being listed with the Nintendo 3DS series rather than the Nintendo DS series.
- The Nintendo DS is represented with the most series, with 22 (23 if Elite Beat Agents is separated). In contrast, the Virtual Boy is represented with the least amount of series, with only one, that being Teleroboxer. (This is not counting the Game Boy Color, whose only represented series, Card Hero, is listed with the Game Boy series).
- The Rhythm Heaven series has the most spirits of those not represented by a fighter, having 9 across its various installments.
- Golden Sun is the only universe without a fighter to have at least one spirit of every class.
- Electroplankton, Nintendogs and Balloon Fight have their own series symbols, but their spirits lack their respective symbol.
- Nintendogs is the only non-fighter series to use real life pictures for their spirits. Furthermore, it is the only series to use living organisms for its "artwork", rather than man-made sculpted models.
- Nintendogs is also the only non-fighter series (aside from those featured in Pac-Man's Namco Roulette taunt) not to have every otherwise-present character appear as a spirit; with the exception of the Toy Poodle, all of the various breeds featured in the Living Room stage lack Spirits.
- Despite having more than one game, X, Battle Clash, Chalien, The Tower, Hotel Dusk, Pushmo, and Fluidity are not referred to as a series. In the case of Battle Clash and Fluidity, this is likely due to the fact that only one game in both series ever released in Japan.
- Similarly, the game of origin for Dillon and Russ is listed as Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers, despite both characters previously appearing in a series of Nintendo 3DS eShop-exclusive titles called "Dillon's Rolling Western".
- In contrast, Urban Champion, Clu Clu Land, Mach Rider, Elite Beat Agents, Number Battle, and Snipperclips are referred to as "Series", despite only having one installment outside of updated re-releases or ports.
- Despite Wave Race and Fluidity debuting on the Game Boy and Wii respectively, they are listed with the Nintendo 64 and Nintendo 3DS series. This is likely due to the fact that neither series' first game were ever released in Japan.
- The series of origin for both Card Hero spirits and Helirin are referred to as Trade & Battle: Card Hero (simply "Card Hero" in the Japanese version) and Kuru Kuru Kururin, respectively. However, the spirits use artwork from Kousoku Card Battle: Card Hero and Kururin Squash respectively, both of which lack the subtitles (Trade & Battle and Kuru Kuru, respectively) used in the first games of both series.
- Similarly, Yama's game of origin is referred to as "SimTower SP", despite the official English title of the game being the same as its Japanese title, The Tower SP. Furthermore, the SimTower title has not been used in an installment ever since the first game of The Tower series, SimTower: The Vertical Empire.
- Despite being localized as "Magical Starsign" and "Nintendo Pocket Football Club" outside of Japan, both series are still referred to by their Japanese names "Magical Vacation" and "Calciobit" respectively, even in non-Japanese versions.
- Similarly, despite being called "Number Battle" in North America, Hsien's series of origin is still referred to as "Sujin Taisen: Number Battles Series", the European title, in the North American version.
- Interestingly, Chef and Beetle's placements do not match the Japanese releases of Personal Trainer: Cooking and Excitebots: Trick Racing respectively (December 2008 and August 2011, respectively), but rather the initial release dates (June 2008 in Europe and April 2009 in North America, respectively).
- Interestingly, Frey and Freya are a shared spirit, whereas Aeron and Elena are separate spirits. This is the opposite of their roles as trophies in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, where Frey and Freya are separate trophies, while Aeron and Elena are a shared trophy.
- Oddly, the Tennis Player spirit is referred to with a singular title, despite there being more than one tennis player in the artwork.
- Despite Devil having hand-drawn artwork on the cover of Devil World, he instead uses his trophy render from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U for his spirit.
- For unknown reasons, MONSTER's series of origin is referred to as "Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally Series" rather than just "Famicom Grand Prix Series".
- Also, despite Mario and Luigi clearly appearing in the MONSTER spirit, the spirit is listed in the others category rather than in the Mario section of the spirit list.
- Olaf's artwork is based off of the Japanese version of Advance Wars instead of the international version; in the first Advance Wars, he has a Santa Claus hat, but in the second game the hat was changed to the international version, so the artwork originates from Game Boy Wars Advance 2, which is the Japanese version of Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising. Despite the artwork being based off of the Japanese version, he does not use his Japanese name, Whip.
- Despite being named "Komurasaki" in her game of origin, her spirit is referred to as "Girl from Hajimari no Mori".
- Yama is listed after Li'l Blue, despite The Tower SP predating Nonono Puzzle Chalien by 2 months.
- Despite Baxter and Forthington being named "Quick" and "Slow" respectively, and The Wandering Samurai being named "Samurai Steve" in PAL English versions of the Rhythm Heaven series, their American names are still used for their spirits in PAL English versions.
- Coincidentally, Alexandra Roivas's voice actress in Eternal Darkness was Jennifer Hale, who also "voiced" Samus in the Metroid Prime trilogy, albeit only limited to vocal noises.
- Despite Ashley Robbins's spirit using her artwork from Another Code: R, her spirit battle is based on the original Trace Memory (Another Code: Two Memories), due to taking place in a haunted mansion and being accompanied by a ghost boy named "D" (who is represented with Villager).
- Despite Kiki Trick debuting on the Wii, Noise is listed with the Nintendo 3DS series, being listed between Nikki and Dillon (both of which had their series debut on the Nintendo 3DS).
