Shy Guys (ヘイホー, Heiho) are found in the Yoshi's Story stage of Super Smash Bros. Melee, on both Mario Circuit and Yoshi's Island of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and on the Rainbow Road stage and in Smash Run in Super Smash Bros. 4. They appear in the Super Smash Bros. games as Propeller Shy Guys (SSB and Melee) and Fly Guys (Brawl and SSB4), but are simply called Shy Guys.

Super Smash Bros.

Flying Shy Guys sometimes appear as background characters on the Yoshi's Island stage.

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Shy Guys appear as both enemies and a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The subspecies of Shy Guys, the Propeller Shy Guys, can sometimes appear on Yoshi's Story, carrying food that can be dropped by attacking them. A trophy of them can also be obtained.

Trophy description

There are many types of Shy Guys: they've been known to walk on the ground, fly through the air, traipse about on stilts, wear flowers or camouflage, throw balls, swing balls, swing bats, sail on pirate ships, carry fruit, do the Bamboo Dance, ride submarines, play guitar, play tennis, wear red, come in large or small sizes, steal people's toys, cause mischief...

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Shy Guys that can be seen driving karts as Mute City-style hazards on the Mario Circuit stage, that inflict 15% damage to a character when contact is made, and two-dimensional Fly Guys also appear in Yoshi's Island, where they occasionally fly in, carrying food. The Fly Guys can be attacked. The Fly Guys are infamous for constantly gimping Ness, who uses a projectile to recover.

Trophy description

A character in a white mask with black eyes and mouth that appears in a number of Mario and Yoshi games. Although Shy Guys' actions are varied--from flying to carrying objects--their true faces are still a mystery. If only for an instant, who wouldn't want to see an unmasked Shy Guy?

Shy Guys appear as stage hazards on Rainbow Road, where, similar to their role in Mario Circuit, drive karts which can hurt characters. Unlike in Mario Circuit, though, they can't be attacked. Fly Guys reprise their role on the Yoshi's Island stage.

Light blue, yellow, red, and green Shy Guys appear in Smash Run as enemies. Light blue Shy Guys have more health, red ones deal more damage, green ones are faster, and yellow ones jump higher. Each type of Shy Guy drops stat boosts related to it's specialty: Defense, Attack, Speed, and Jump respectively. Fly Guys also appear as enemies, flying around while carrying items.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Shy Guys appear as stage hazards in both the old and the new Mario Circuit stages. In the new Mario Circuit they can't be attacked.
