K.K. Slider (とたけけ, Totakeke) is a character in the Animal Crossing series of video games.

Origin[edit]

K.K. Slider is a special character who can be found in all of the Animal Crossing games since the original, performing on Saturday from 8:00 PM (or all day, albeit will not take any song requests until 6:00 PM in Animal Crossing: New Horizons) to midnight at different locations depending on the game (such as the Train Station, The Roost, Club LOL, or Resident Services). If the player speaks to him, he will play them a song and then give them a recording (or aircheck) of that song that they can play via a stereo at their house. On non-Saturday nights in New Leaf and on the archipelago on some nights in the Happy Home Paradise DLC for New Horizons, he plays under the guise of "DJ KK" (who appears as a trophy in SSB4 and a spirit in SSBU). Super Smash Bros. takes from his performances in other games and has him only show up on Saturday nights.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, K.K. Slider appears as a trophy with his guitar with the title "Totakeke", his Japanese name. As Animal Crossing had not yet been released in America at the time of Melee's release, his American trophy puts his home game as "Future Release".

A wandering musician whose daily life is a bit of a mystery. He plays in front of the train station every Saturday night starting at 8:00 p.m. He has a large repertoire and plays both old and new hits from all over the world. His music is so ingrained in the villagers that it's impossible to imagine them living without it.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, in addition to being a trophy and a sticker, K.K. Slider cameos on the Smashville stage, where he plays one of his songs when the stage is played between 8:00 PM and midnight on a Saturday, true to his role in the Animal Crossing games. His voice can be heard in many of these arrangements on the Smashville stage, namely:

Bolded tracks are only played during concerts; the other two can be chosen from My Music.

Although K.K. Slider only plays from 8:00-Midnight on Saturday nights, K.K. Slider can be seen preparing for his performance earlier than 8. Additionally, while Animal Crossing Villagers usually pay full attention to the fight, if K.K. Slider is performing, then the villagers' attention will be focused on him instead.

Event 26: The Slow and Easy Life is a special exception, and will always be set during a performance of Rockin' K.K. regardless of the actual time of day.

Trophy[edit]

K.K. Slider's trophy is obtained by unlocking all songs in the game.

His voice is also used in a new arrangement of Bubblegum K.K.
