Galeem (キーラ, Kiira) is one of the two main antagonists of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Adventure Mode: World of Light, described as "Lord of Light" and the "ultimate enemy" in the World of Light. Prior to the events of the mode, Galeem attacks the fighters, commanding an army of Master Hands. He seemingly destroys all but Kirby and engulfs the entire galaxy in a burst of light, leaving the world a barren wasteland inhabited by hostile spirits and dark versions of the fighters whose spirits were captured by Galeem. Galeem has a dark counterpart, named Dharkon, which he wages war with until they both form an alliance, and aim to destroy the fighters. If only Dharkon is destroyed, Galeem will engulf the world in light, resulting in a bad ending.

Trivia

  • Galeem's name is a corruption of the word "gleam," and his name in Japanese is a corruption of the Japanese onomatopoeia "キラキラ" (shine, twinkle). Both names are tied to the Adventure Mode motif of light.
    • Kiira is additionally similar to the Japanese transliteration of "killer" (キラー, Kiraa), using the same characters aside from the placement of the long-vowel mark.
  • The wings on Galeem's body glow in the same colors as the ones on the Super Smash Bros. 4 logos.
  • His appearance as an ethereal being of light with six wings resembles Seraphim.
    • In the Abrahamic religions, the appearance of a Seraph in the mortal realm signifies the end of the world. This reflects Galeem's role in World of Light as the one who attempted to destroy everyone in existence, turning them all into Spirits.
