Sumabato SP 69 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate major held in Daito City, Osaka Prefecture on May 10th, 2026.

Tournament summary[edit]

Coming off from an incredible performance at Kagaribi 15, #1 seed Sparg0 continued his momentum to make it to Grand Finals via Winners side, dropping only 2 games in the main bracket (those being against Furararamen and Meido). In Top 8 itself, Sparg0 cleanly swept both Wrath and Asimo, notably winning the runback against the latter after losing in their two previous encounters. With Sparg0 winning the second set of Grand Finals against #2 seed Miya in a 3-1 fashion, he would claim his first major victory since S Factor 12 back in July 2025. Notably, Sparg0's victory made him the first non-Japanese player to win multiple Japanese majors, and with his aforementioned Kagaribi performance, signaled a return to form after his lackluster performances at the start of the year.

Sumabato SP 69 marked the first Sumabato event since Sumabato SP 63 where Miya registered (having entered due to his underperformances at the two previous supermajors he attended). However, Miya would suffer his first disastrous loss of the season, where he would be upset by sy's Little Mac 3-2 (where sy notably took 4 of Miya's stocks with several K.O. Punches throughout the set), for a Upset Factor 11. Incredibly, Miya would make an arduous 11 set loser's run all the way to Grand Finals. On his way to Top 8, Miya would take wins against MarK, Ataru, Rarikkusu, and Saya. In Top 8 itself, Miya continued his run taking out Kaninabe, reverse sweeping Wrath, stopping Snow's run, and quickly defeating Asimo to face against Sparg0. Miya would swiftly defeat Sparg0 3-0, marking his first victory over Sparg0 since the first set of Grand Finals against him at Don't Park on the Grass 2024, before finally bowing out in the 13th set of his run.

While the Top 3 seeds would place their seed, #12 seed Snow would replace Raru for 4th place, making up for his underperformance at Kagaribi 15. Snow himself would be upset early on by #53 seed Tsumusuto's Dr. Mario (UF 5), and he himself would go on an extensive Losers run of himself. Notably, Snow eliminated #4 seed Raru for 33rd (UF 3), marking the first time since Umebura SP 11 where Snow defeated his bracket demon. Snow would continue his run until the aforementioned Miya elminated him in his own loser's run. Despite being upset by #11 seed Saya in winner's side of bracket, #6 seed Ryuoh continued his return to form, placing inside the top 8 of a major tournament for the first time since UltCore Fourth before losing to Snow for 7th place. The top 8 was rounded out by #15 seed Yone_pi, who took advantage of his bracket path to make top 8 in winner's side, and #22 seed Kaninabe, who went on a small loser's run of his own (including eliminating #8 seed Karaage at 13th for a UF of 3) after also losing to Saya in winner's side of bracket. They replaced #7 seed Raki who was upset by #58 seed Jagame (UF 6) and #10 seed Rarikkusu to place 25th, and #8 seed Karaage, who was upset by #24 seed Meido (UF 3) and Kaninabe to place 13th.

Both #36 seed Etish and #24 seed Meido continued the momentum they gained from their performances at Kagaribi 15, with Etish sending Raru to loser's side (UF 7) and upsetting #20 seed Ataru before losing to #5 seed Wrath and Ryuoh for 9th, and Meido upsetting both #9 seed Mild na H.O and Karaage before losing to Sparg0 and Snow to place 9th. Notably, #25 seed Yuzha was unable to do so, losing to #104 seed Gaosan (UF 4) and #51 seed CLAW to place 65th.
