New Jersey and other states[edit]

There is currently a red link one this page for New Jersey. I removed it, and the edit got undone. I would like to know why New Jersey, or any other state/province/country, needs it own page on this wiki. Sure, it has a lot of professional smashers from the area, but is that really relevant enough for its own page? Unless I'm overlooking other reasons. Ac2k 18:23, 14 February 2013 (EST)

Ask Omega Tyrant, he's the one that wants it the most. Air Conditioner AC.png I hate you all, except for you guys. 19:43, 14 February 2013 (EST)
I don't see individual states articles as an especially good idea. We have categories for smashers by state, and the power rankings of each state, but the city itself? Just link to Wikipedia, SmashWiki shouldn't have to teach geography because Smashers own houses. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 20:14, 14 February 2013 (EST)

New York/New Jersey is recognised as its own region (and as the best region in the world), and we have articles on Smash regions. New Jersey should logically be a redirect link to that article when it exists. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 21:00, 14 February 2013 (EST)

We have lists of Power Rankings in regions, but do we really need an article about a state? Remember that this is SmashWiki, not Wikipedia. Ac2k 21:13, 14 February 2013 (EST)
This is about Smash regions, which have information about their smash history, smashers in the area, tournaments held there, etc. This is not about the states themselves, so enough with the "we're not Wikipedia" shit. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 21:17, 14 February 2013 (EST)
Then call it "List of notable Smash activity in New Jersey" or something like that, not "New Jersey." Ac2k 21:21, 14 February 2013 (EST)
He said "New Jersey" would act as a redirect. BRAWLS BoFSig.png OF BoFSig.pngFURY 21:33, 14 February 2013 (EST)
The region is "New York/New Jersey", and the articles are about the regions, which are referred to by their respective names. We don't need such a long and unnecessary title for them. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 21:41, 14 February 2013 (EST)
New York/Jersey is vague and can refer to a very wide range of things. If we call it New York/New Jersey, I'm sure we'll be spending a lot of time reverting people's edits about non-Smash related information. Just have "New York/New Jersey" redirect to "List of Smash activity in New York/New Jersey." And also, look at the long titles of articles such as List of cutscenes in the Subspace Emissary and List of regional version differences (SSB). There's no simpler way to write it without sacrificing clarity, and it's the same case here. Ac2k 22:09, 14 February 2013 (EST)

In case you haven't notice, we're the SmashWiki, edited by smashers, who use Smash terminology. "New York/New Jersey" is recognised by competitive smashers as a Smash region, and casuals who may not be yet in tuned with competitive stuff will see it's such an article when they read it. Users are not going to mistake it as a general article about those states, and there's nothing vague about it in the scope of Smash.

Irrelevant, "New York/New Jersey" is the actual name smashers know the region as, and it's not going to be a list article. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 22:48, 14 February 2013 (EST)

Reporting accurate information[edit]

We should be free to write about Salem starting drama between smashers and the communities. I proposed an edit twice but it got removed both times. Was my information not accurate? This scumbag needs to be held responsible for his ridiculous claims just as much as anyone else. My edit deserves to stay. It's exactly what he said. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stretchyman77 (talkcontribs) 22:54, 6 January 2019 (EST)

Scumbag? No disrespect to you, but it sounds like you might be letting your personal feelings on the issue get in the way of editing constructively. Looking at what you have tried to insert both times, there is a little bit of bias in your words. Keep in mind that any and all writing on any wiki must be using a neutral point of view, and you haven't been meeting this requirement, which is why the edits keep getting reverted. The only exception to this would be when providing a "direct quote" from the smasher itself, which, if it's exactly what he said (as you claim), shouldn't be too hard to find. Also keep in mind that any kind of controversy is highly likely to be a launchpad for edits that are at best opinionated and contentious, and at worst, incredibly toxic and acidic.
With all that in mind, I encourage you to write a ==Controversy== section for this article. The most important part about that is to try and avoid bias, and any opinionated claims. Direct quotes are okay, but make sure that any quote can be substantiated before you add it in. After all, we all know how much of a problem fake news can be these days... Min Min[edit]

Is Min Min going to be added to Salem's list of mains? I'm asking this because he's mentioned several times on MVG's Youtube Channel that he is going to main Min Min.

Is Salem banned from all tournaments?[edit]

It was hard to understand everything that was going on on twitter so is he banned from all tournaments both online and offline? Is his competitive career over? SacredFire37 (talk) 22:15, March 23, 2021 (EDT)

Salem's is banned from tournaments that are either runned by Cagt, Grayola, and L4st, for example as he is banned from Juice Box's and Lunch Box's tournaments as all of the TO's mentioned are runned by them. Doesn't mean he is banned from all tournaments offline or online as no other tournament organizations have any announcements of him being banned. Furthermore, WWR only made Salem excluded from any Wi-Fi Warrior Rank's, although PGR or any other rankings never announced it, and we don't know if his competitive career is over.
