Several things[edit]

First, please try to make all edits in one go. Multiple edits clog up the recent changes list, so pleases use the preview button instead of making multiple edits.

Second, please make sure that the players actually main those characters and not use them as a secondary/counterpick. Some examples that I had to revert:

  • Dabuz only uses Palutena as an occasional counterpick. Even before the quarantine period, Dabuz has used Olimar and Rosalina at the majority of the tournaments he has attended.
  • ANTi has stated many times that he has dropped Lucario. He has since switched to Snake.
  • M2K is a Marth/Sheik player but usually uses Fox against Jigglypuff and Peach against Ice Climbers; they are less of a main and moreso a counterpick.
  • Tweek rarely uses Pokémon Trainer now and instead has went back to Wario for most of his games. He only pulls out Pokémon Trainer as an occasional counterpick.
  • ZeRo's a more tricky one since he hasn't attended many offline tournaments, but even then he does not main 5 characters. Taking a quick look at Smashdata, he mostly used Cloud and Mario.

These are just a few I had to change. Just because a player has used the character once or twice in a tournament doesn't mean it's a main. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 16:13, August 1, 2020 (EDT)

At the end of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpR9XJ69Yvg Mew2king says that Fox and Peach are some of his Melee Mains BlueFlash3604 (talk) 16:28, August 1, 2020 (EDT)

That was back in 2016, 4 years ago. His lineup changes consistently, but more recently he has mostly used Sheik and Marth with a Fox secondary. He hasn't touched Peach in a while either. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 16:29, August 1, 2020 (EDT)

Oh, ok. BlueFlash3604 (talk) 16:36, August 1, 2020 (EDT)

Look, I gave you an explanation for M2K and ZeRo, yet you still add those in among some other inaccuracies. Not only that, by undoing PMJ's edits you are edit warring. Please stop. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 21:30, August 1, 2020 (EDT)

I should bring this up as well: just because someone said they played a character in a video or Tweet does not mean they actually used the character seriously in competitive play. Mew2king has never actually used Mewtwo seriously in any Melee tournament. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 11:29, August 2, 2020 (EDT)

Smasher mains and others[edit]

If you're confused about who qualifies as a character to add for smasher infoboxes, please try taking another look at the talk page messages above this one. And if you're still confused, maybe go take a look at our notability standards to get a better idea of what we want. That would be a far better alternative than edit warring, I reckon. Notability[edit]

Please read what's linked above. DDee doesn't meet the guidelines for notability, and not everyone who has wins over top players online deserve to have a page. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 21:20, August 18, 2020 (EDT)

Professional[edit]

Just because a top player in one game has used a character in another does not make them a professional. For example, Plup hasn't played Brawl seriously at all so he shouldn't be considered a Marth professional. The same goes for players who play other characters in the same game, but not successfully (eg Maister's Pichu). Furthermore, we don't count Wi-Fi characters for professional status since it's a completely different metagame than offline. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 19:01, August 30, 2020 (EDT)

A reminder[edit]

Just because a player used a character on-stream or for a Youtube video and not for tournament doesn't mean they main or play the character seriously. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 17:12, October 12, 2020 (EDT)

Characters[edit]

Please don't add every character that top players may have used at some point; the characters that are listed for players are supposed to be their most notable ones. In addition, please don't add characters due to players using them in a non-tournament YouTube video. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 12:49, November 1, 2020 (EST)

He used Luigi in the Summit 3 Iron Man tournament where they picked their own 5 characters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BlueFlash3604 (talkcontribs) 14:44, November 1, 2020 (EST)

An Iron Man is not the same as a normal bracket, plus his Luigi performed worse than his other characters. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 15:21, November 1, 2020 (EST)
That doesn't count.... Look man you have been spoken to about this multiple times, your edits keep getting reverted and you continue to do this anyway. This is a ban warning, please cease these edits. We only take most notable characters per players, a good rule of thumb being match wins without sandbagging. Serpent SKSig.png King 15:23, November 1, 2020 (EST)

Smashdata[edit]

Just because Smashdata lists a character for a player doesn't mean it should be added to their infobox. For example, most of the characters you added for Tarik were characters that he used only at a select few tournaments to little success, heck he even lost the two sets where he went Incineroar. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 23:21, January 26, 2021 (EST)

Mew2king's Jigglypuff[edit]

Please stop adding Jigglypuff to Mew2king's infobox. Just because Mew2king's been using Jigglypuff more on stream does not mean we should at it. He's only used Puff once in tournament where he lost.

I recommend reading this forum for further information on characters in infoboxes. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 14:09, March 6, 2021 (EST)

Recent characters[edit]

Don't just add a character into an infobox because a player used it recently. If the player uses that character for several tournaments after, then it should be fine. Otherwise, it would just be a one-off throwaway character. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 10:11, April 18, 2021 (EDT)

Tournament characters[edit]

Only add characters that a player used to help win a set. While Riddles won 2 games with Ken, he ended up losing the set. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 20:51, May 23, 2021 (EDT)

On a somewhat related note, do not add characters that players didn't have set wins with. That would include kameme's Mario and Larry Lurr's Mii Brawler, both of whom lost the set they used the characters. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 09:09, June 6, 2021 (EDT)

Final warning[edit]

Hi, I've noticed it has been a long reoccurring problem with you putting characters into players' infoboxes that don't belong there after one local/wifi result or because they played the character on stream once, even after the wiki started making an active effort to clean up the infoboxes and put a stop to this sort of shit. We are not letting infoboxes go back to the state they used to be in and you have been warned countless times to stop with it now, so this will be your last warning; if you ever again add characters to a player's infobox without a really good reason for it, you will be blocked for it. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 06:40, July 29, 2021 (EDT)

I was serious about this, as you keep ignoring us and inflating the smasher infoboxes with seldom-used characters while giving no explanation for your edits nor even attempting to communicate with us about your edits (not having made any talk page posts since last November), you have been blocked. Should you still keep this behavior up when your block is over, the subsequent blocks will be considerably harsher. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 07:02, September 22, 2021 (EDT)

Preview[edit]

Hi, I noticed you often make multiple consecutive edits to the same page in a short amount of time. If you need to preview your edit, use the preview button located next to the save button. For my signature. Omega Toad, the Toad Warrior. (I'm the best!) 02:05, September 18, 2021 (EDT)

Characters, once again[edit]

Look, I don't know how many times me or someone else has to remind you about adding characters to the infoboxes. Even after both blocks you still continue to add characters that players either don't use that often (or haven't used in a while), or just used recently. I should stress these once again:

  • Don't add characters who haven't seen much usage (such as Raito's Lucina).
  • Don't add characters who the player just started to use; give it a few weeks or so.
  • Likewise, don't add characters that haven't been out for a month or so. Players often just play around with these characters, and it's too early to see whether they'll stick with the character again (the last 2 points apply to Zackray's Sora).

I really hope you finally get the message this time. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 10:02, October 31, 2021 (EDT)

I do not know what your problem is, you keep insistently making these bad infobox edits and keep ignoring us when we try to communicate with you, with there being nine messages here on your talk page within the past year you never responded to, while your last talk page post was all the way back in November of last year. What I can gather from this is you're outright refusing to cooperate with the community here, which is simply not going to fly, so you have been given a more severe block to get the message through to you. If you come back when you block is up and resume to making these bad infobox edits while ignoring any talk page communication, the next block will be for a year. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 21:08, November 10, 2021 (EST)

Characters... yet again[edit]

You've been warned about this multiple times, yet you still keep adding characters to infoboxes randomly and without explanation. Please stop. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 02:56, January 29, 2023 (EST)

Your permanent ban[edit]

We have been through this before, I really do not understand what your fucking problem is with insistently bloating smashers' other character usage in their infobox even after getting banned multiple times for it, including removing a cleanup tag about it while not properly addressing the bloat, and then adamantly refusing to ever respond to any of us on your talk page. I was already considering following through with my warning before of banning you for a year if you ever repeated that behavior, where it was then brought to my attention that this IP had suspiciously similar edits to you, at which point I did a Check User on you and found the IP does indeed belong to you. Editing while logged off could be construed as using your IP to intentionally sock, but I initially assumed it may have been a mistake rather than you deliberating editing logged off to avoid detection for the edits you were told to stop. However when I investigated it farther, I found the IP tied to all of these accounts:

At first I thought you might have just used a shitty VPN IP that got used by a bunch of other people, but when looking through those accounts, it is quite evident they have the same editing style as you, with a peculiar focus on bloating up smasher infoboxes, and have the same style of userpage that consists just of your signature ridiculously bloated infobox. These socks are old and it doesn't appear you used them during the times you were banned, but this is still a very blatant violation of our sockpuppet policy and it appears you were using these socks when you started getting heat for your edits, while there is also at least one edit of you using one of these socks after I banned you prior.

So for such flagrant and severe violations of our policies, you have been permanently banned. I did leave your ability to edit your talk page open however and am open to hearing an appeal from you if you have any inclination to actually be a constructive contributor here. If you do appeal: you are going to need to answer these questions:

  • Why have you been so obsessed with bloating character usage in smashers' infoboxes, even after it has been made clear it goes against the standards of SmashWiki?
  • What were all those sock accounts created for?
  • Why have you not responded to any messages on your talk page in the past two and the half years?

If you can give an adequate honest answer to all three, your ban length may be reduced to something temporary. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 04:56, February 1, 2023 (EST)
