Peach (ピーチ, Peach) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Peach was revealed for the game along with the rest of the veterans on June 12th, 2018. However, unlike previous Smash Bros. games since Melee (her first playable appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series), Peach is now an unlockable character rather than being available from the start. She is classified as fighter #13.
As in Smash 4, Samantha Kelly's portrayal of Peach from Brawl was repurposed for Ultimate.
How to unlock
Complete one of the following:
- Play VS. matches, with Peach being the 12th character to be unlocked.
- Clear Classic Mode with Fox or any character in his unlock tree, being the third character unlocked after Zero Suit Samus.
- Have Peach join the player's party in World of Light.
With the exception of the third method, Peach must then be defeated on Princess Peach's Castle.
Attributes
Peach is a lightweight and a floaty, which means people may have a harder time comboing her. At the same time, Peach herself have many combo starters, especially down tilt, which meteor smashes. Thanks to the changes in meteor smashes on-stage, down tilt can reliably combo into many different moves, such as forward air and up air.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4
Peach has been considerably buffed from the transition from Smash 4 to Ultimate. As with most characters, Peach's mobility has been significantly improved, greatly aiding her approach and combo game. The new short hop multiplier which makes short hop aerials weaker affects Peach less than other returning veterans, as she can use her float to bypass the multiplier and still use her aerials low to the ground. Most of her moves remain largely identical to their Smash 4 counterparts, although some of her moves have seen improvements. Her new down tilt is significantly faster, and it cannot be teched, making it a consistent powerful combo tool. Peach can now choose which weapon she wants to use with her forward smash, greatly improving its reliability. Peach Bomber is also faster and stronger, improving its recovery and KO potential. Lastly, her Vegetables are stronger and faster both to pluck and to throw.
Peach has received a few nerfs, however. Like with many returning veterans, her grabs are considerably slower, making it harder for her to grab her opponents and begin her strong grab game (especially since her dash grab also has more startup lag). Her forward aerial now has a weaker sourspot, making it more difficult to use effectively. Lastly, the weakening of rage has made Peach Parasol less effective when she is at higher percents, and her down aerial's new angle makes it more difficult for her to combo her down aerial into Peach Parasol.
Overall, Peach has been considerably improved from her Smash 4 incarnation with her superior mobility and combo game.
Aesthetics
- As with all veterans returning from Smash 4, Peach's model features a more subdued color scheme. Her hair and gloves now feature simple detailing, similar to her design in Brawl. Her dress retains its design from the previous iteration, but now features a glossy satin texture.
- Peach's particle effects have been enhanced. Her pink heart effects are larger and more visually striking.
- Back aerial now has a heart effect.
- Forward aerial now has a magic-like effect (while otherwise remaining a physical attack) with sparkles matching Peach's blue crown jewel.
- Like other fighters, Peach is more expressive, having facial animations for more attacks.
- Peach's dress now has independent physics, like in Melee.
- Peach always faces the screen regardless of which direction she turns. As a result, her stance, moveset, and animations are now mirrored.
- This allows the player to see which turnip face is held when facing left.
- Turnips now bounce off the ground once instead of disappearing immediately. This has no effect on gameplay.
- Peach's taunts have been tweaked.
- Down taunt now has a heart pop up next to her head. She also no longer spins, and winks immediately.
- Side taunt has been shortened, as she now only dances back and forth once instead of three times, though the music notes still appear.
- Peach performs her up taunt faster.
- Peach's second jump animation has changed slightly.
- Peach no longer spins during her air dodge animation.
- While floating, Peach now faces the screen instead of facing the side, and her dress no longer puffs up while she floats.
- Peach has a new alternate costume—a golden dress. It replaces her Princess Daisy-inspired costume, most likely due to Daisy now being a separate character as Peach's Echo Fighter.
- Two of Peach's victory animations have been changed, while one is slightly edited. [1]
- Peach's stun animation is sped up.
Attributes
- Like all characters, Peach's jumpsquat animation now takes three frames to complete (down from 5).
- Peach jumps slightly higher.
- Peach walks slightly faster (0.86 → 0.924).
- Peach runs faster (1.4175 → 1.595).
- Peach's initial dash is significantly faster (1.5 → 1.826).
- Peach's traction has been increased (0.068 → 0.111).
- Peach's base and max additional air acceleration values have been adjusted, but are overall slightly higher, now matching those of Wario (base: 0.01 → 0.04; max: 0.1 → 0.08; total: 0.11 → 0.12).
- Peach's air speed is faster (0.95 → 1.029).
- As a result, Peach's floating speed and distance have improved.
- If used while floating, Peach's aerials still behave like ground moves when hitting shields, thus now granting them more shieldstun compared to short hop aerials.
- Peach's falling speed and fast falling speed are slightly faster (1.15 → 1.19) and (1.84 → 1.904) respectively.
Ground Attacks
- Neutral attack:
- The first hit of neutral attack can now lock opponents.
- The first hit of neutral attack has a shorter duration (frames 2-3 → 2).
- Forward tilt:
- Sweetspotted forward tilt has more range.
- Down tilt:
- Down tilt has been changed from a sweep with her hand to a sweep kick.
- Down tilt is significantly faster with less startup (frame 13 → 8) and ending lag (frame 28 → 24) and like with all grounded meteor smashes, it can no longer be teched, making it much more consistent for combos.
- Down tilt now lacks intangibility.
- Up tilt:
- The stronger and weaker hits have been reversed: the hitbox on the heart is now stronger than the hitbox on her shoulders, much like in Brawl.
- Dash attack:
- First hit of dash attack combos into the second hit much more reliably.
- Second hit of dash attack has a slightly larger hitbox (5u/4u → 5u/4.5u).
- Dash attack now has hearts at the end of the move.
- Forward smash:
- Forward smash no longer cycles between its three weapons in a set order, instead being determined by which angle the stick is held. This greatly improves its reliability, letting Peach use a particular weapon repeatedly without having to telegraph it.
- Peach can switch to whichever weapons she wants to use during her charging animation for forward smash (depending on angle).
- The tennis racket deals slightly more damage (13% → 13.5%), and now lacks a sourspot.
- Forward smash no longer cycles between its three weapons in a set order, instead being determined by which angle the stick is held. This greatly improves its reliability, letting Peach use a particular weapon repeatedly without having to telegraph it.
- Down smash:
- Down smash has a greater amount of possible hits (5 hits → 7)
- Down Smash has its damage buffed. (13% to 15%)
- All the multi-hits have less startup lag and the move has an overall longer duration due to having more hits.
- The final hit has more startup lag (frame 26 → 30).
- Up smash:
- Up smash has an additional hitbox at the tip, where a heart graphic appears at the end of the ribbon.
Aerial attacks
- All aerials have less landing lag (11 frames → 7 (neutral), 22 frames → 13 (forward), 18 frames → 11 (back), 12 frames → 7 (up), 13 frames → 8 (down)).
- Forward aerial:
- Forward aerial now has a sourspot, dealing 1% less damage and KOing later.
- Down aerial:
- Down aerial's hitbox size has been reduced.
Throws/other attacks
- Dash grab has more startup lag (frame 8 → 9) and all of her grabs have more ending lag (frame 32 → 37 (standing), frame 40 → 45 (dash), frame 38 → 40 (pivot)).
- Toad now appears when Peach grabs an opponent to attack alongside her when she uses her pummel and throws. Toad also still appears in her back throw and up throw, despite not directly attacking the opponent.
- Because of this, Peach has a new pummel, where Toad punches the opponent.
- Peach has a new forward throw, where Toad headbutts the opponent away.
- Peach also has a new down throw, where Toad headbutts the opponent into the ground.
- Her new down throw has more combo potential due to her faster jumpsquat and full hop.
Special Moves
- Toad:
- Toad has a different animation. Peach now ducks down covering her ears while Toad angrily appears in front of her in order to protect her.
- Toad has less startup lag and a longer duration (frames 10-34 → 8-34) and Toad also gains intangibility sooner (frame 11 → 8).
- Toad deals more damage per spore (2% → 3.5%).
- Toad now leaves Peach stationary in the air on the first use instead of making her hover upwards for a short time, making the move worse for edge-guarding and hindering its recovery potential. Toad's intangibility also has a shorter duration (frames 11-14 → 8-10).
- Peach Bomber:
- Peach Bomber now deals more damage (10% → 12%) and knockback.
- Peach Bomber does more shield damage, depleting half the shield, making it a more reliable move.
- Peach Bomber now has less startup (frame 14 (grounded), frame 20 (aerial) → 13 (both)) and ending lag (frame 65 → 63 (grounded), frame 95 → 88 (aerial), frame 21 → 20 (hit)).
- Peach can control her drift much earlier during lag after an aerial Peach Bomber.
- Peach Parasol:
- Peach Parasol has less landing lag when open.
- Peach Parasol's final hit now inflicts slightly more knockback.
- Peach Parasol has more landing lag when closed.
- But Peach can reduce some of the lag by doing an attack.
- Peach Parasol deals significantly less knockback when it has opened up during Peach's descent.
- However, this also means that Peach can rack up more damage similar to how it was in Melee.
- The weakening of rage has significantly hindered Peach Parasol's KO potential with rage, as it can no longer OHKO opponents unless used near the upper blast line.
- Vegetable:
- Turnips are pulled out much quicker (frame 43 → 37).
- Turnips travel faster, making it easier to hit opponents with them.
- Peach's item throw has slightly less ending lag, allowing for easier follow-ups (frame 27 → 25)
- The power levels of all turnips have increased.
- The power of normal turnips have increased from 2 to 5.
- The power of winky-face turnips have increased from 6 to 10.
- The power of dot-eye turnips have increased from 12 to 16.
- The power of stitch-face turnips have increased from 23 to 24.
- Turnips have higher knockback growth, allowing them to KO at high percentages.
- Turnips can now beat certain hitboxes (instead of clanking with them), such as opponents' up specials.
Moveset
- Peach can float for 2.5 seconds.

On-screen appearance
- Appears spinning out of a shower of hearts, then winks and poses with her parasol saying "Hi!".
Taunts
- Up Taunt: Faces the screen, and takes out and twirls her parasol. She says "Sweet!" as she does this.
- Side Taunt: Dances once in a taunting manner as little music notes flutter around her, while singing "La la la la laaa laaa!" in a tune similar to "Ring Around the Rosie".
- Down Taunt: Faces the screen, and winks and points with her index finger in a somewhat bent posture and says "Uh-huh!" A heart will also pop up by her head.
Idle poses
- Looks over her shoulders and brushes something off her dress.
- Raises arms up and stretches.
- Adjusts her ring before raising her hand and looking at it.
- Fiddles with her hair.
Victory poses
- Twirls with hearts surrounding her, then poses while saying "This is fun!"
- Leans on her umbrella and raises it, while saying "Aw, did I win?"
- Waves, blows a kiss, and says "Peachy!" Afterwards, she rests her right arm across her waist, and waves with her left hand.
Classic Mode: No Damsel in Distress
Peach's opponents are villains in various universes that have all captured a certain damsel before.

Role in World of Light
Although Peach does not appear in the World of Light opening cutscene, she was vaporized and later imprisoned alongside the rest of the fighters (except Kirby) when Galeem unleashed his beams of light. She is seen in the gameplay section, where she unlocks a new area.
Peach is in a desolate platform in the Molten Fortress sub-area where Giga Bowser is fought, a callback to her usual role as a damsel in distress.
Spirits
Peach's Fighter Spirit can be obtained by completing Classic Mode. It is also available periodically for purchase in the shop for 500 coins. Unlocking Peach in World of Light allows the player to preview the first spirit below in the Spirit List under the name "???". As a Fighter Spirit, it cannot be used in Spirit Battles and is purely aesthetic. Each Fighter Spirit has an alternate version that replaces them with their artwork in Ultimate.
Additionally, Peach makes an appearance in various Primary and Support Spirits.

Trivia
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the first Smash Bros. game where Peach holds an object, specifically her Parasol, in her official artwork.
- One of Peach's new winning animations resembles part of her Hole-in-One animation from Mario Golf: World Tour, albeit without the parasol.
- Oddly, the red lace at the bottom of Peach's dress disappears when viewed inside from her dress. This did not occur in her SSB4 model.
