Lip's Stick (リップステッキ, Lip Stick) is an item from the puzzle game Panel de Pon (released only in Japan), and is wielded by the main character, Lip. It is a usable item in Melee, Brawl, SSB4, and Ultimate.
Origin
Lip's Stick originates from the Japanese puzzle game Panel de Pon, which was released overseas as Tetris Attack with its characters replaced by characters from Yoshi's Island. The protagonist of Panel de Pon is the flower fairy Lip, who is seen holding the Lip's Stick (referred to in-game as simply はなの つえ "flower wand") on the title screen and in the background of puzzles.
In the Vs. Mode of Panel de Pon, if the player manages to get a combo or clear four or more panels at the same time, a symbol flies over to the opponent's side, immediately followed by the appearance of a "garbage" block. If the player is playing as Lip, the main character, she visibly waves her flower wand at the opponent when this occurs, and the symbol and garbage block are flower-themed. The flower's continued-damage property in Smash may be a reference to how garbage blocks interfere with the opponent's gameplay.
Super Smash Bros. Melee
In Melee, Lip's Stick is classified as a battering item with a very helpful side effect: when a character is struck by the item, they will be inflicted with the flower status. Tilt and smash attacks cause the item to release "dust" that also has the flower effect, though the dust deals less damage and knockback than the item itself. Repeated use of the item, as well as tilts and smashes with the item, cause the flower to grow bigger, making it last longer and thus deal more damage. However, the item has a limited amount of dust with which to grow flowers; once the dust runs out, the item can no longer attack from a distance, though the player can still use it as a battering item. Furthermore, the dust that is released from the item is considered a projectile, and as a result, can be reflected and absorbed.
The flower effect done by Lip's Stick can also be applied by a number of attacks, such as Crazy Hand's throw and Togepi's Leech Seed.
Trophy info
This magical stick was used by the character Lip in the Japanese game Panel De Pon, which was later released as Tetris Attack in the United States. Lip's Stick causes a flower to sprout from an enemy's head, inflicting damage as it grows. Quickly tap the Control Stick back and forth to get a flower off of your head.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Lip's Stick was first confirmed to return in Super Smash Bros. Brawl when it was shown in a Smash Bros. DOJO!! update concerning Munchlax. It behaves the same way in Brawl as it does in Melee.
The Flower effect caused by Lip's Stick is available as a modifier in the game's Special Brawl. Equiping the Flower Fairy Lip Sticker in Subspace Emissary will grant the player with Lip's Stick when the character who equipped it spawns.
Lip's Stick cannot give a flower effect to members of the Fighting Alloy Team, although it still deals a considerable amount of knockback when used on them.

In Super Smash Bros. 4
Lip's Stick returns as an item in Super Smash Bros. 4, acting as it did in both Melee and Brawl. Furthermore, the "Flower" modifier is still present in the game's Special Smash. The damage it deals is now classified as a magic attack, creating sparkly effects with each hit. The equipment of the same name allows you to equip it at a start of a match but not in event matches.

- Lip's Stick
- With this wand in hand, a simple flick of the wrist will sprout a flower from a character's head. If you keep on flicking, the flower grows larger. The bigger the flower, the more nutrients it craves, dealing more and more damage to the host. Shake it off by running around real fast!
- With a wave of this wand, make a flower bloom on your opponent's head. A lovely big flower. One that gets bigger the more times you hit them. It must be absorbing nutrients from its host, since your rival's damage will slowly go up and up while it's there. If this ever happens to you, try to shake it off by running around!

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Equipping the Lip, Farfetch'd or Agitha Assist Spirit will give you Lip's Stick at a start of a match.

Trivia
- In Brawl, when Mario is afflicted by Lip's Stick and does his side taunt, the flower appears on his cap.
- In the PAL release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the trophy for Lip's Stick erroneously identifies its origin as Panel de Pon's Western counterpart, Tetris Attack (where neither Lip nor her wand appeared).
- Similarly, when the player first obtains the Lip's Stick trophy in Brawl, it unlocks Tetris Attack in the Chronicle.
- In concept art for Kirby Super Star, a Flower copy ability for Kirby was considered which would have given him a bow (resembling Lip's) and, seemingly, the ability to cause a flower to grow from an enemy's head to damage them. This may have influenced the design of the Lip's Stick item in Smash, as Kirby Super Star was also directed by Masahiro Sakurai.
- Although this is the only item in the Super Smash Bros. Series to come from a Japan-only game with a lack of a clean international release in any form (since Panel de Pon was rebranded into Tetris Attack removing Lip and her wand), Lip's wand appears as an item in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome Amiibo update under the name "Fairy Flower Wand". This item can be obtained by getting a score of 100 or higher on any difficulty in Animal Crossing: Puzzle League's Candy Mode mini game.
