Warp Pipe
Warp Pipes are a frequent sight in Super Smash Bros. games, hailing from the Mario series.
In Super Smash Bros.
The Mushroom Kingdom stage has three warp pipes. Two of them can be entered, and the character which entered it will appear in one of the two others randomly, though if one is blocked, they will always come out of the other.
Mario and Luigi's on-screen appearances have a Warp Pipe rise from the ground for them to jump out of onto the stage.
In Luigi's Board the Platforms stage, three of the platforms are contained in large Warp Pipes.
In Super Smash Bros. Melee
In Melee, Warp Pipes commonly serve as platforms, such as in Yoshi's Island.
In the Mushroom Kingdom stage in Adventure Mode, they also serve as "checkpoints," in that if the player is KOed, they will re-spawn at the last Warp Pipe they passed.
There are also three that appear in the background of Mushroom Kingdom, and another three in the platforms.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Mario and Luigi's on-screen appearances have a Warp Pipe rise from the ground for them to jump out of onto the stage, repeating its role from the original game. A Warp Pipe also appears on an island in the Delfino Plaza stage. In the background of the Mario Circuit, various Warp Pipes can be seen. The Yoshi's Island stage and its Warp Pipes return, repeating their role from Melee. Warp Pipes appear on the Mario Bros. stage, serving as a spawner for Sidesteppers and Shellcreepers. A green Warp Pipe can be seen in the background of The Ruined Zoo. Lastly, they appear as obstacles on the stage Mushroomy Kingdom.
In Super Smash Bros. 4
Warp Pipes appear as a stage element and a trophy.
As a stage element
Mario and Luigi's Warp Pipe on-screen appearances once again return, repeating its role. The 3D Land stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS contains a few Warp Pipes, with some of them being capable of rising and descending as platforms. Additionally, a Warp Pipe appears in the background of its Ω form. The Golden Plains stage contains Warp Pipes, though they serve no purpose other than aesthetics. Additionally, yellow Warp Pipes appear as part of its Ω form. The Paper Mario stage also contains a Warp Pipe, which functions as a spring for fighters. Warp Pipes return in the Mushroomy Kingdom stage, with the same functionality as before. The Delfino Plaza Warp Pipe also returns with the same functionality. Mario Circuit from Brawl and its background Warp Pipes return. The Yoshi's Island stage and its Warp Pipes once again return, repeating their role from Melee and Brawl. Warp Pipes can appear in both the 3DS and Wii U versions of Super Mario Maker. Lastly, one of the drawings in PictoChat 2 is a group of warp pipes placed on the floor and just inside the left, up and right stage boundaries. It is possible to enter a pipe by crouching on top of it, and come out of a different one in the stage, like in Smash 64's Mushroom Kingdom.

Pipes
Sometimes Piranha Plants live in them... That's right! I'm talking about those iconic green pipes. World 7 of Super Mario Bros. 3 was actually called Pipe Land. Jump over pipes! Run along pipes! Enter and exit pipes! ...I'm saying there are a lot of pipes.
Jump on top, and then...bloop bloop bloop! Down the pipe! Sometimes, though, they have Piranha Plants inside, so be careful! By the way, did you know that World 7 in Super Mario Bros. 3 is called Pipe Land? It's full of pipes! You sleep in pipes, dream of pipes...Pipes-pipes-pipes-pipes-pipes!

Origin
Pipes are a commonly used element in Mario games, starting with Super Mario Bros.: some are purely decorative, while others, when entered, transport the player to another area of the level. The usage of a Warp Pipe as Mario and Luigi's on-screen appearance could be a reference to the beginning of Super Mario 64, where Mario uses one to warp to the garden of Princess Peach's Castle.
