Apex 2014 was the fifth tournament of the Apex tournament series directed by Alex Strife. It was held around the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend from January 17th-19th, 2014. Like previous tournaments of the series, Apex 2014 hosted a variety of fighting games including the three Smash Bros. games, as well as the Brawl mod Project M. It was the largest Project M tournament of all time with 382 entrants, the largest Smash 64 tournament in the United States with 157 entrants, the second-largest Brawl tournament of all time (behind Apex 2012) with 370 entrants, and the third-largest Melee tournament of all time (behind EVO 2014 and EVO 2013) with 629 entrants.
