Mii Brawler (SSB4)
Brawlers fight empty-handed, and prefer to be up close and personal. Mii Brawlers are fast and powerful.

Mii Brawlers (格闘タイプ, Hand-to-Hand Fighting Type) are one of the three different types of Mii Fighters that appear in Super Smash Bros. 4, along with Mii Swordfighters and Mii Gunners.

Moveset

Of the three types of Mii Fighters, Brawlers are the fastest runners, and the highest jumpers. They also have the fastest and strongest attacks of the three, though they pay for this with the shortest range. Like Little Mac, Mii Brawlers' attacks are strong enough to where nearly all of their non-Smash attacks can KO reliably, but they both have poor aerial recovery. Like all other characters, the stats of the Brawlers can be altered with various pieces of Equipment, buffing them in certain areas while nerfing them in others. Despite this, Mii Brawlers still run notably fast even when their speed stat is nerfed.

Ground attacks

Normal

  • Neutral attack - Two quick punches followed by a series of rapid punches ending with a side kick. First punch does 3%, Second does 2%, Rapid punches do 1% each, and kick does 2%
  • Dash attack - kicks forward, similarly to Fox's dash attack. Does 2%, 1% per hit.
  • Forward tilt - A single roundhouse kick. Does 8%.
  • Up tilt - Punches with an uppercut. Does 6% damage.
  • Down tilt - Sweep kick along the ground. Does 8% damage.

Smash attacks

  • Forward smash - A strong straight punch with high ending lag. Does 25% damage fully charged, 18% minimum.
  • Up smash - A flip kick, similar to Fox's up smash. Does 15%-20% damage, depending on charge time.
  • Down smash - Punches in one direction and kicks in the other. Does 14-18% damage from both sides.

Special Moves

In Super Smash Bros. 4, characters' special moves can be swapped out for different variants. However, unlike the other characters, Brawlers and other types of Mii Fighters can choose from three completely different special moves for each slot, in a similar vein to Palutena. The following are the Mii Brawlers' special moves:

  • Neutral Special 1: Shot Put: A shot is thrown into the air as an arcing projectile. Does 15% damage.
  • Neutral Special 2: Ultimate Uppercut: An uppercut that slightly resembles Little Mac's when he lands his OHKO. Can be charged up for more power and stored, similarly to Donkey Kong's Giant Punch. Does 8%-22% damage.
  • Neutral Special 3: Exploding Side Kick: Dashing forwards with their foot on fire, extended in a kick. Functions like the Falcon Punch, and it is possible to turn around before unleashing the kick. Does 23-25% damage (27% if reversed).
  • Side Special 1: Onslaught: Charges forward with their knee and fist out, (similar to Captain Falcon's Knee Smash). If the attack hits, the Mii Brawler will launch into a series of kicks (2% damage each) that ends with an uppercut (4% damage).
  • Side Special 2: Burning Dropkick: Extends both legs in front of them, charging forward to deliver a kick while caught on fire. Is charged up similarly to the Green Missile. Does 13-18% damage, depending on charge.
  • Side Special 3: Headache Maker: Performs a mid-air split while doing a downward punch with both fists. Does 13% damage.
  • Up Special 1: Soaring Axe Kick: Performs an upward flip kick that is followed by an axe kick. (Similar to Kirby's Final Cutter). Hits do 4%, 3%, and 4% respectively.
  • Up Special 2: Helicopter Kick: A flurry of kicks while travelling diagonally upward. Doesn't have much vertical lift. Does 17% damage, with the first hit doing 3% and the last 6%.
  • Up Special 3: Piston Punch: Jumps upwards while performing a flurry of punches, similar to Little Mac's Up Special. Has good KO potential. Does 11% damage if all hits connect.
  • Down Special 1: Head-On Assault: Falls downwards at a high speed, head aimed at the ground. This move can bury opponents. Does 4% on the way up, while doing 8% damage on the way down.
  • Down Special 2: Feint Jump: Flips off the ground and, when down-special is inputted again, performs a divekick while surrounded by a purple aura. Functions very similarly to Zero Suit Samus's Flip Jump. Does 8% damage.
  • Down Special 3: Foot Flurry: Extends their foot forwards and delivers a number of rapid kicks in front of them, similar to Fox's neutral attack. Does 14% damage across nine hits, with the last one doing 6% damage.

  • Standard/Up: Backflips, then performs a crane pose.
  • Side: Performs two kung fu poses in a row.
  • Down: Punches twice towards the screen.

Trivia

  • The design of the Mii Brawler used in promotional material is based on an edited version of Guest C, one of the pre-loaded Miis available. His skin is brighter and his hair has a different design, along with the hair being black in color instead of brown.
