Lucina (ルキナ, Rukina) is confirmed to have a playable appearance in Super Smash Bros. 4. She was confirmed during a live stream on the official Smash Bros. website on July 14, 2014. July 14 is one day before Fire Emblem: Shin Monshō no Nazo: Hikari to Kage no EiyūShe was released in 2010, and it is 2 days before Fire Emblem for the GBA was released in 2003. She is a moveset clone of Marth and also the first clone to be revealed for Smash 4. She is slightly shorter than Marth, giving her a smaller hurtbox.
Known moveset
Lucina is a clone of Marth, meaning her moveset and animations will primarily be based off of his. In a Miiverse post, Sakurai explains that, "even a small difference in abilities" gives a character their own roster slot, citing Lucina as an example[2]. It was later confirmed[3] that her character physics and moveset are "nearly identical" to Marth's. So far, the following differences have been seen:
- Unlike Marth, her sword does not have a tipper hitbox, meaning every part of her sword will deal equal damage. Her sword trails also appropriately lack the accentuated tip, and are instead a full white blur.
- Lucina has a taunt in which she puts on or takes off the mask she wore while masquerading as Marth in Fire Emblem: Awakening.
- Lucina does a different pose during her Counterattack.
Special Moves
In Super Smash Bros. 4, special moves can be swapped out for different variants, but Lucina's have not yet been seen. Lucina shares all of Marth's special moves.

Trivia
- Although acting as a newcomer to Super Smash Bros, Lucina was not depicted as such on the front page of the Super Smash Bros. 4 Official Site; she was only given a small slot like the returning veterans. However, her profile page also displayed the word "newcomer" and the mobile site still gives Lucina a large slot like other newcomers. The reason for this discrepancy is unknown.
- Lucina was originally planned as an alternate costume for Marth[3], but was given her own character slot due to "the characteristics of their attacks" being different.
- Robin and Lucina's trailer is the first one to reveal two newcomers and the second to reveal a veteran after Greninja's, and their trailer also marks the first reveal of a second newcomer from the same series (Fire Emblem).
- Lucina's SSB4 official art is posed identically to official art of her disguised as Marth from Fire Emblem: Awakening.
- Lucina is the only unlockable character who was officially revealed prior to the release of Smash 4.
- Lucina is the first female unlockable character in the Super Smash Bros. series.
