Dream Land (プププランド, Pupupu Land) is a stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

Stage layout

It is a scrolling stage taking place in various areas of Kirby's Dream Land. As an added bonus to the stage, all of the area's locales are rendered in an identical style to the original Game Boy's monochromatic screen; furthermore, the edges of the battlefield border resemble those of the Game Boy, complete with a red LED on the left border to show the life remaining in the Game Boy's batteries. Near the end of timed matches, this light begins to dim, as if the Game Boy's batteries were dying out.

When the L Button is held while selecting the stage, the Game Boy's screen will follow a black and white palette in contrast to the green screen, mimicking later models.

Ω Form

The Omega form is set in the Green Greens portion, it does not scroll and walk-off areas are absent. The "Game Boy" is also not seen. Unlike its normal version, the stage appears in 3D. The monochrome variant can still be accessed.

Glitch

A glitch can occur in the stage in King Dedede's castle causing the floor to "disappear". Players will randomly can fall on the lower blast line which is impossible to get KOd.

Trivia

  • The Pic of the day from August 8, 2014 that features the monochrome Kirby and King Dedede costumes further references Kirby's Dream Land, as the game would have monochromatic graphics on the Game Boy. The reveal took place before it was revealed the stage was Kirby-themed.
    • Additionally, the Miiverse caption for the aforementioned picture references the Game Boy start-up sequence jingle.
  • When the game is paused on this stage, the player is unable to rotate the camera, though all other options for manipulating the camera are still available.
  • This stage and Flat Zone 2 are the only 2D stages in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
  • Due to the close proximity of the background, no Star KOs occur in this stage; only standard KO blasts and Screen KOs occur. This also applies to its Ω form.
  • In a Smash battle with four players on the non-omega version of this stage, if the fourth player is Jigglypuff, it will fall through the stage as the match begins.
  • If the Timer goes off, the battery will shut down.
