A stage prefix is the prefix of a stage's name. The stage prefix was introduced in Super Smash Bros. Melee, which used the locations of the stages. Super Smash Bros. Brawl and subsequent games instead use game or series designations for stages.

The following is a list of stage prefixes in Melee, Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Trivia

  • Uniquely, Mushroom Kingdom and Mushroom Kingdom II lack prefixes in Melee, as shown in the Random Stage Select. However, they are formatted as "Mushroom Kingdom" and "Mushroom Kingdom II" on the stage selection screen.
  • Due to the large number of Past Stages in Ultimate, the only stages in the series to never receive a prefix are Planet Zebes, Sector Z, Pac-Maze, and Rainbow Road.
