Playstyle

Samsora is known for his defensive bait and punish playstyle. Samsora mains Peach and is known for his quick movement with Peach.

In Smash 4

For Peach, Samsora overshoots defensive options to bait his opponent into hitting Peach, allowing Samsora to access his aggressive punish game. Samsora mixups his movement, allowing him to consistently escape the corner. Samsora utilises jump cancel fast fall to create mind games. Samsora rarely uses Peach's counter, Toad; but he utilises Toad for edgeguarding and anti-edgeguarding.

In Ultimate

Samsora's playstyle remains the same in Ultimate. Samsora continues to use Peach and utilise her heavy combo game and potent edgeguarding.

Controversy

On September 14th, 2020, tamim released a TwitLonger explaining that CaptainZack's TwitLonger on Nairo was full of manipulations and lies. In the TwitLonger, he also included a section on Samsora, accusing him of knowing about Zack's relationships with Ally and Nairo but doing nothing about it. tamim then stated that he believed Samsora disliked being in Nairo's shadow but nonetheless used Nairo to gain more attention, and when Nairo became useless to him he decided to get rid of him; as a result, he collaborated with Zack on his TwitLonger in order to "reap the benefits of Nairo’s downfall."[3]

Samsora would deny all of tamim's accusation towards him the next day, and explain his side of the story. He claimed that he first heard about the Zack and Nairo situation from Zack, but he never believed it to be true until 2019 when Nairo told Samsora. He then stated that Nairo asked Samsora and Zack to lie about the situation, stating that it would ruin his life, and while Samsora didn't want to, he decided to go along because Zack complied. However, by July 2020, Zack didn't want to continue with the lie, and Samsora persuaded him to come out with the information, believing that Zack had changed as a person and wanted to help end this period of CaptainZack's life. He ended it by apologizing for not speaking out sooner about both the situations with Ally and Nairo.[4]

Following Nairo's statement on October 28th, Samsora would make another Tweet on the subject on November 8th, stating that he had since distanced himself from both parties as he realized the situation was beyond his control.[5] After Nairo's final statement on the subject matter on February 19th, 2021, Samsora would post an official apology on how he handled the situation.[6]

Due to his actions in July, Samsora would be banned indefinitely from any tournaments held by Cagt, Grayola, and L4st and added to the Global Ban Database.[7] Samsora made a nonchalant remark to the ban before deactivating.[8]

Trivia

  • His tag, Samsora, is inspired by a character from the game Grand Chase named Samsara. He subsequently legally changed his name to Ezra Samsora Morris.
  • Samsora shares his ranking on the Panda Global Rankings v2, 29th, with fellow Peach player SlayerZ, who was ranked 29th on the first edition of the Panda Global Rankings.
  • On April 19th, 2019, Samsora defeated ESAM 10-1 in a $500 money match at Pound 2019 that was later joked about on Twitter by both competitors.
  • During the talent show for Smash Ultimate Summit 2, Samsora cosplayed as his main, Peach, while performing a catwalk. Viewers gave this new persona the name "Samantha."
  • Samsora is known for speaking poor English, leading some fans to dub his English errors as "Samsoranese."
  • Samsora has several different catchphrases. Some of them include "Owow," "I'm not dead...", and "omnipotent."
  • Samsora is very expressive and hyperactive while playing. His most well-known habit is his "head bopping" movement, when Samsora suddenly does a headbutt towards the screen, sometimes several times in a row.
    • His sponsor eUnited notably released several studio Samsora gifs, including one where he's bopping several times in a row.
  • Samsora is notorious for struggling in the Peach vs. Mr. Game & Watch matchup, having an 0-4 record against Maister in Ultimate with his only game wins against him being with Zero Suit Samus; he has openly expressed his dislike for the matchup on Twitter.
  • Samsora is also known for playing worse online. This is due to Peach's complex inputs being harder to play online due to lag.
    • Because of this, Samsora notably has been upset by wi-fi players such as DDee in a first to 10 set.
    • He also lost several games against Blucas before 3-stocking him at the end.
    • At The Quarantine Series, Samsora got sent to the losers bracket at Winners Round 1 after losing to the Ganondorf main WhiteNova 3-1.
  • Samsora is known to underrate his main Peach, despite the character widely considered to be a top-tier, by discussing controversial matchups, considering characters such as Little Mac to go even.
