8-Player Smash is a gameplay mode in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. This mode allows eight players to play on the same stage at one time. In addition to red, blue, yellow, and green indicators for players 1-4, players 5-8 receive new indicators colored orange, cyan, purple, and slate respectively. In Team Battles, an additional team color, the yellow team, can be selected. Additionally, when using the Team Battle function in 8-Player Smash, CPUs will almost always utilize the life stealing technique, even more often than they do in the other modes.
Stages available in 8-Player Smash
Only certain stages and their Ω Forms can be played on. Sizes of stages may change to accommodate for the larger amount of players. Several of the stages' hazards or background elements are also removed. Certain stages allow for 5 or 6 players, but not 7 or 8.

Trivia
- Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS includes various unused elements within its data for 8-player Smash.
- While Ω forms of stages are available in 8-Player Smash, Final Destination itself cannot be used in 8-Player Smash, despite the Ω stages usually being no larger than Final Destination itself. Presumably, it's due to Final Destination's complex background not being suitable for battle with 8 players on screen.
- According to Masahiro Sakurai, 8-Player Smash was going to appear in Super Smash Bros. Melee, but was "more than impossible" at the time. Notably, usage of Melee's debug menu can allow for partially implemented 6-player battles.
