Captain Falcon (キャプテン・ファルコン, Captain Falcon) returns as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4. He was confirmed on July 14, 2014, the same date that F-Zero X was released for the Nintendo 64 in Japan in 1998, alongside Lucina and Robin. His appearance has been upgraded since his last appearance.

Ground attacks

  • Buff Captain Falcon's jab is improved
  • Buff The Gentleman (neutral attack 3) has been strengthened, and now initiates independently of the infinite strike, making it much easier to use and allows it to be skipped upon initiating the infinite, keeping it from knocking opponents out of the infinite's reach.
  • Buff The new neutral infinite finisher has surprisingly large range and high knockback. Combined with the previous point, Falcon is no longer left as open if he initiates the infinite.
  • Buff Forward tilt is faster.
  • Buff Up tilt can now meteor smash if the foot is landed.
  • Nerf Up tilt's non-meteor smash hitbox now launches opponents at a higher trajectory, slightly nerfing its KOing ability. It also deals 2% less damage.
  • Buff Down tilt sends opponents at a semi-spike trajectory, allowing it to set up tech-chases, setup edge-guards, and edge-guard effectively itself. It additionally has slightly less ending lag.
  • Buff Dash attack deals more damage and is significantly more powerful.
  • Buff Forward smash has increased reach, and is more powerful. It also has faster start-up lag.
  • Buff Up smash has faster start-up and ending lag.

  • Nerf Falcon Punch deals slightly weaker knockback. A non-reversed one also deals 2% less damage.

Trophy

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

Captain Falcon's regular trophy can be obtained by completing Classic Mode and his alternative trophy can be obtained by completing All-Star mode.

Captain Falcon
In the F-Zero racing scene, Captain Falcon uses his Blue Falcon to win big. His origin largely a mystery, he's made his way to the Smash Bros. battlefield to prove his worth outside the cockpit. He's got speed and power, and his distinct Falcon Punch leaves a dent. Start it in the air to surprise your foes!
Captain Falcon (Alt.)
Captain Falcon's default down special, Falcon Kick, is no ordinary kick—it surges forward in a fiery blaze. It's a versatile attack that moves sideways on the ground and diagonally down in the air. His forward air attack, Knee Smash, can send an enemy flying for miles if hit just right.
