Duck Hunt (also known as Duck Hunt Duo in the European release and Duckhunt in the Japanese version), which consists of the dog, a duck, and the hunter from the game Duck Hunt, along with gunmen from Wild Gunman, are put together as a newcomer fighter in Super Smash Bros. 4, as confirmed by a leaker's Twitch stream. Its artwork matches the image of Duck Hunt from a previous leak. The Duck Hunt dog does most of the fighting, with an unseen gunman and the duck as assists. Most moves involve spins, bites, and paw swipes as direct attacks, with objects and gun shots as indirect attacks.
How To Unlock
Complete one of the following:
- Complete Classic Mode with 8 characters.
- Play 110 VS Matches.
After completing one of the two methods, Duck Hunt must then be defeated on Battlefield.
Attributes
The Duck Hunt team consists of multiple units: The dog, the duck, a hunter who is unseen, and gunmen from Wild Gunman. The dog uses spins and bite attacks for its moves. The duck is used for some tilts and the team's Up Special. The hunter only appears in five when a smash attack is used and during the team's Neutral and Side B attacks, in which the hunter shoots the can and clay disk, respectively. Gunmen from Wild Gunman appear in the team's Final Smash and the team's Down B. Despite the character being referred to as "Duck Hunt Duo" in the PAL versions, there are actually three components to the character.

If the first two hits connect or if they're performed in quick sucession, it will transition into the jab infinite, which has the duck peck at the opponent repeatedly, and then ends with it thrusting its wings and beak out.

Neutral special | Default | Trick Shot | 9%-12% (explosion) | The dog summons an explosive barrel from Hogan's Alley and kicks it away. Subsequent Neutral specials alert the gunman to shoot the barrel forwards, before it detonates and blows up. The explosion can hurt the dog as well. |
Custom 1 | High-Explosive Shot | ?% | The barrel is only kicked once upon initial activation. Greater distance and speed. Pressing the special button again at any time will make it explode immediately.
Custom 2 | Zigzag Shot | ?% | The barrel alternates direction in the air for each press. Getting hit by the explosion sends the opponent straight upwards.
Side special | Default | Clay Shooting | 2% upon contact, 10% shooting | The dog throws a clay pigeon away, which will explode into a hail of gunfire triggered by the player. |
Custom 1 | Rising Clay | ?% | The dog throws a clay pigeon that rises into the air slowly. No additional effects.
Custom 2 | Clay Break | ?% | The pigeon can be shot at up to three times with varying accuracy, but the third shot definitely hits. Each shot is much stronger than the default move.
Up special | Default | Duck Jump | - | The duck carries the dog upwards in an adorable fashion, before losing strength and falling to the ground. |
Custom 1 | Duck Jump Snag | ?% | The dog bites repeatedly as the duck carries it upward. Covers less vertical distance than the default up special.
Custom 2 | Super Duck Jump | ?% | Short lag, then the duck and dog go up very quickly. Covers more vertical distance than the default up special.
Down special | Default | Wild Gunman | 4%-7% | The dog summons an 8-bit gunman from Wild Gunman. If an opponent is in its horizontal range, the gunman will fire, before disappearing. However, the gunman will vanish if attacked before he can shoot. |
Custom 1 | Quick Draw Aces | ?% | Start-up lag before firing is reduced, but both power and shot distance is decreased.
Custom 2 | Mega Gunman | ?% | Large gunman acts as a shield. Fires after considerable delay if nothing hits it.
Final Smash | Duck Hunt's Final Smash | 45% | The dog calls in a flock of 8-bit ducks. The opponent is then carried into a western field, where multiple gunmen start firing away at the opponent, as well as shooting at ducks and cans. The attack is a cinematic one, similar in execution and style to Captain Falcon's Final Smash. |

- Duck Hunt
- You could call these two the stars of the NES 1985 launch title Duck Hunt. The goofy dog would chase down any ducks hit by the Zapper. In Smash Bros., these two work as a team to fight. When a can or a clay pigeon is in play, hit the button again to fire at it. Show your foes how the ducks felt!
- Duck Hunt (Alt.)
- Duck Jump, an up special, has the charming twosome float up in an adorable fashion. It also makes getting back to the stage much easier. Their side smash can hit up to three times at close range, depending on your shooting skills. By charging up the attack, you can increase the range even further!
