Sheik returns as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. 4. Unlike in previous Smash games, she is now a completely separate character from Zelda, and the two are no longer able to transform into the other under any circumstance. Like the other The Legend of Zelda characters, Sheik maintains the same aesthetic style she had in Brawl. However, Sheik appears physically more muscular than her appearance in Brawl. This gives her a body-type closer to her Ocarina of Time incarnation, which was more masculine in appearance than her Twilight Princess concept art.
Changes from Brawl
- Short hop is much faster.
- Needle Storm air no longer has its landing lag.
- Up aerial is now a multi-hit attack.
- Down aerial is now a meteor smash. It also leads into a second hit on grounded opponents.
- Forward throw appears to have been sped up. It also deals 1% more damage than in Brawl, and sends foes at a slightly higher trajectory.
- Neutral infinite now transitions into a finisher.
- Forward aerial is much faster, and deals 2% more damage.
- Forward smash has been strengthened again, now being able to KO under 100% when fully charged.
- Falling speed is faster.
- Sheik has two new special moves.
- Burst Grenade appears similar to the previous side special of Chain, except that the chain now has an explosive on the end instead of dealing damage itself. Her side taunt has changed to reflect this, where she pulls out the string from Burst Grenade as opposed to her Chain.
- Due to Burst Grenade's function, Sheik cannot use this move as a tether recovery.
- Bouncing Fish is her new down special move, an acrobatic kick attack.
- Burst Grenade appears similar to the previous side special of Chain, except that the chain now has an explosive on the end instead of dealing damage itself. Her side taunt has changed to reflect this, where she pulls out the string from Burst Grenade as opposed to her Chain.
- Sheik can no longer transform into Zelda.
- Sweetspotted dash attack deals 1% less damage.
The following moves appear visually unchanged:
- Neutral attack
- Forward tilt
- Down tilt
- Up smash
- Down smash
- Neutral aerial
- Back aerial
- Vanish
- Light Arrow
- All taunts
- Sheik retains the ability to wall cling.
- Sheik retains the ability to crawl.
Special Moves
In Super Smash Bros. 4, special moves can be swapped out for different variants, but Sheik's have yet to be seen. She retains her final smash as well as two of her original special moves. Burst Grenade has unprecedentedly replaced Chain. Transform has been replaced with Bouncing Fish, because Zelda has become her own character. These are Sheik's special moves:
Special Move | Basic | Custom 1 | Custom 2 |
---|---|---|---|
Neutral Special | Needle Storm | - | - |
Side Special | Burst Grenade | - | - |
Up Special | Vanish | - | - |
Down Special | Bouncing Fish | - | - |
Final Smash | Light Arrow | - | - |
