—Introduction Tagline

Rosalina (ロゼッタ, Rosetta) known on the website and in-game as Rosalina & Luma (ロゼッタ&チコ, Rosetta & Chiko), has been confirmed to be a newcomer in Super Smash Bros. 4 during the same month as the game Super Mario 3D World was launched. The first newcomer to be revealed following E3 2013, her design in the game is slightly more realistic, similar to Peach's. She is confirmed to be a lightweight character despite her tall frame, similar to Mewtwo and Zelda.

Known moveset

  • Creation of Lumas, which aid in attacks similar to Nana of the Ice Climbers. Lumas can attack while either next to or projected away from Rosalina, using a moveset (detailed below) implied to be connected with Rosalina's moveset. Lumas can be used to combo opponents back and forth with Rosalina, and like Pikmin can take attacks and be destroyed. They can also be colored yellow, green, red, blue, and silver. It is unknown if the colors represent different abilities/attributes or if they are purely cosmetic.
  • Multiple kicks where miniature galaxies appear.
  • Releasing a blast of magical energy in front of her. The attack can be charged, appearing to be her forward smash.
  • An attack that appears to hit on both sides with the Luma hitting in the opposite order, appearing to be her down smash as it can be charged.
  • Producing "Saturnian rings" for up tilt and down aerial (appears to be a meteor smash).

Special moves

Special Move Basic
Neutral Special Luma Shot
Side Special Star Bits
Up Special Launch Star
Down Special Gravitational Pull
Final Smash Power Star

Taunts

  • Waves her wand, similarly to when she summons Luma; Luma dances around
  • Puts her hand on her hip, leans back, and waves her wand; Luma nods his head
  • Rosalina and Luma lean forward and spin, like a planet on its axis

Palette swaps

  • Standard - Blue: Rosalina's regular outfit
  • Pink - Rosalina in a bright pink dress, similar to Peach
  • Green - Rosalina in a lime green dress
  • Gold - Rosalina in a gold dress
  • White - Rosalina in a white dress; resembles Fire Rosalina from Super Mario 3D World, but with the colors inverted
    • Note: None of Rosalina's palette swaps change the color of her brooch or jewels on her crown.

Luma

Luma (チコ, Chiko) and Rosalina have separate movesets when apart, allowing for various methods of fighting.

  • Luma's attacks consist mostly of punches and kicks, such as an uppercut and PPK combo.
  • Luma Shot lets it ram enemies on the way out.
  • Star Bits makes it fire a short ranged projectile, albeit potentially at a distance from Rosalina
  • Luma will also wander and attack on its own when separate from Rosalina.
  • If Luma crosses a blast line, a tiny KO explosion is seen on-screen. This tiny KO explosion is smaller than normal.
