Link in Super Smash Bros. 4 | |
---|---|
Universe | The Legend of Zelda |
Other playable appearances | in SSB in Melee in Brawl |
Final Smash | Triforce Slash |
Link (リンク, Rinku) will be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4. He retains his Special Moves Spin Attack, Bow, Bomb, and Gale Boomerang. His design is heavily based on his appearances in both The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The colour palette is taken from his appearance in Skyward Sword, but his hair, handedness, bracers, and bombs are similar to those in Twilight Princess. His 3DS look, however, resembles more closely his Twilight Princess appearance, with a similar color palette to Ocarina of Time.
Confirmed information
- The following moves appear visually unchanged:
- Neutral attack
- Forward tilt, which is now faster than before.
- Forward smash
- Neutral aerial
- Forward aerial
- Back aerial
- Clawshot, as both a Grab and Tether, albeit the latter is dramatically buffed as with other tethers.
- Down throw
- Forward throw
- Back throw
- Both Floor attacks
- Gale Boomerang, which has its tornado come out upon returning and having better damage and knockback.
- Hero's Bow
- Bomb
- Triforce Slash
- Side taunt
- Link has a new Dash attack where he performs a leaping downward slash, a staple of the Zelda series.
- Up aerial has changed from its Zelda 2 animation to a very wide scissor kick, although it appears functionally the same. It appears to have quicker start up and also a smaller hitbox, as the size looks very different than before.
- Down aerial has a meteor smash if the tip of his sword hits with the initial hitbox, similar to Toon Link's in Brawl, though it has been stated that this effect may be removed if it is deemed too powerful after playtests.
- Link's down aerial also experiences significantly less lag after impacting the ground.
- The Spin Attack seems to have been reverted back to its Melee form, as it has not been seen charging and already has very high knockback. As well, during the Little Mac reveal trailer, it seems to wobble up and down a bit, indicating possible directional properties.
- The Spin Attack also seems to have been buffed, as seen in the E3 Invitational, where it acted similarly to Melee's.
- The Spin attack also has two different trails in the Wii U and 3DS versions. The Wii U's trail is now more yellow and blue, supported by two pictures, while the 3DS version's resembles Brawl's color trail; this can be supported by the red line that is seen in his recovery in the trailer.
- Link's Master Sword seems to be much larger.
- Link appears to have greater speed in both the air and on the ground, alongside overall less lag in his attacks.
- Link has a new (under 100%) edge attack that is very similar to his Crouch Stab from Ocarina of Time.
