Even though I'm an admin, I will still brawl anyone that challenges me, regardless of their skill level. If you want to Brawl me, contact me here or on the IRC. If you wish, you can also ask me for my Pokémon FCs or for my Wii code (to exchange vault data). If you do brawl me, be sure to have tourney rules set. I'm also on the IRC everyday and due to my inconsistent sleeping patterns, you can find me on there in the most unusual of hours.

Universal templates

If a template only has one item in it, don't you think that is a little too minor for it to be created?

It was my original position, but then MoSW went and made {{DS universe}} and {{Electroplankton universe}}, which included a reversion in the latter case of {{delete| Is this template really necessary if it only has one thing in it? }} with "yes it is". Ergo, I was following the admin's lead. - Reboot (talk) 05:30, 16 January 2011 (EST)

One admin's opinion =/= equal the view of the Wiki, especially if they can back up their view with only "yes it is". I'm going to delete the latter one now. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 05:35, 16 January 2011 (EST)

My logic was that the universes recognized as such in-game (by having their own logo, mind you) merited having a universe template. This would include the DS and Electroplankton universes, which have their own in-game logos (can be verified by the DOJO pages as well). The Assist Trophy-only universes, however, fail to meet this criterion; this can also be checked at the DOJO. I would therefore recommend re-adding the DS and Electroplankton templates, minor though they may be. Miles (talk) 12:14, 16 January 2011 (EST)

Understandable, but I don't see the practicality, as each of the universe templates for them only include one item. Considering that these templates are made for navigation, what's the point when these templates will only be on two pages, the article that the item already links to, and the universe page where there will already be a link to the page that the item links to. Standardization of matching every other stage. Miles (talk) 19:01, 16 January 2011 (EST)
Still not practical to have a template that only links to the page you're already on. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 08:22, 17 January 2011 (EST)
IMO the standardization of that is important. Miles (talk) 20:17, 17 January 2011 (EST)
Usually I would agree with this sentiment, but these templates only linking to the page you're going to be on are a major problem, lacking practical use and making them a waste in my eyes. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 15:18, 18 January 2011 (EST)

Measuring Meteor Smash Base Knockback and Knockback Scaling

I understand base knockback and knockback scaling. I was trying to ask you how to measure these for another site for this fan-based game called "Super Smash Flash 2" by a creator named Cleod9. Do not worry; I will not post any information on this game on this site since the game has nothing to do with the real SSB games...not after last time. I also want to measure these for Melee if I may unless someone else is doing it. I apologize if I am wasting your time or if I am annoying you by asking this or if I am asking too many questions, but anyway, you said that resetting the match will show you the knockback of the meteor smashed opponent, but how? Is the number shown on the screen, or do you need special software or special programs to measure and to see these statistics? Also, how do you reset a match? Is it the same thing as quitting and starting a match again? Chimanruler15 (talk) 20:12, 17 January 2011 (EST)

Resetting a match is essentially no contesting a match. As mentioned before, in the after match statistics, there are two stats called "Max launcher speed" and "Max launching speed". The former shows the maximum knockback you dealt from a single attack while the latter shows the maximum knockback you received from a single attack. So if you hit someone with only one attack before no contesting, the numbers shown will be for that one attack. You do not need anything other than the game itself and a brain to do some math to get this post calculation data. To get pre-calculation data, you need to hack (which is what Toomai specialises in finding).
As mentioned before, Melee shown its knockback values on a different scale, so I don't think what works for Brawl will work there. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 20:27, 17 January 2011 (EST)
Thanks for the information. Chimanruler15 (talk) 13:45, 18 January 2011 (EST)
You're welcome. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 15:18, 18 January 2011 (EST)

Responding To A Post

Thanks for all of the information. How do you respond to a post on a user page without editing the section? I saw indented responses to posts, like your response to my meteor smash post, and I wanted to know how do that. Chimanruler15 (talk) 12:01, 18 January 2011 (EST)

Colons create indents at the beginnings of lines. See Help:Editing. Miles (talk) 12:44, 18 January 2011 (EST)
Thanks! Chimanruler15 (talk) 13:25, 18 January 2011 (EST)

Mass spam accounts

I think we should probably introduce an auto confirm group to ward off spammers, like Mario Wiki does. Only after a few days and some useful edits will get them autoconfirmed. Also, we should probably disable IPs and non-autoconfirmed uses ability to create new pages.

By the way, another batch of spam accounts appeared. T.testLPThe Communicator|The...WhateverGanondorfHead.pngGanondorf da bess! 07:55, 28 January 2011 (EST)

I don't think that is necessary. While the spam accounts are still being created, we have an extension installed that is keeping them from being able to continue their spam attack. While it is annoying seeing these spam accounts getting created still, they can't do anything. However, as Toomai and I discussed, we are considering installing an extension that allows us to merge and delete accounts, thus getting rid of the spam accounts.
I won't support removing the ability for IPs to create articles as I do not believe in punishing all for the actions of a few, and getting one good, legit article from this for every 25 crap/vandal/spam article is worth it imo. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 08:10, 28 January 2011 (EST)
Well, it seems that extension is no longer working. However, I still do not want to remove the ability for IPs and new users to create articles, especially since these are the type of users who mostly create smasher articles, which this Wiki is heavily lacking in.
