Nice work! Your contributions reflect the kind of awesome work we SmashWikidians like to see!
You've been working quite hard since you joined. I got mines quite a while after I joined but then again, the community did not remember the shining star :p. Keep up the good work.--MegaTron1XD:p 23:10, 16 November 2010 (EST)

Template options...[edit]

Why exactly are you working so hard to add template options that aren't really needed? (For example, we have no stages that we'd want to link to StrategyWiki.) Miles (talk) 18:22, 17 November 2010 (EST)

Seemed like a "why not", TBH. - Reboot (talk) 20:23, 19 November 2010 (EST)

Please don't add the interwiki boxes to File pages. The links are already available on the trophy list itself. Miles (talk) 22:24, 25 November 2010 (EST)

I'm just asking, why are we linking every article to one from another wiki? Mr. Anon (talk) 22:01, 26 November 2010 (EST)

Because I thought we were meant to? If I should stop, then I will. - Reboot (talk) 14:59, 27 November 2010 (EST)

"File" vs. "Image"[edit]

There is absolutely no difference between the two. Why are you trying to change all of them? Toomai Glittershine Data Node 19:31, 28 November 2010 (EST)

I'm changing them as part of a general formatting tidy-up when I change something else on the page - typos, {{Special Moves}}, fixing smasher links to go to the Smasher:* namespace rather than the mainspace, etc. If I've saved any pages where Image->File has been the only change, that's an accident. - Reboot (talk) 19:36, 28 November 2010 (EST)

Edit frequency[edit]

Hi, while your edits are good, could you perhaps slow down a bit with them? I made some edits earlier, and they got knocked off the recent changes in less than about 10 or 15 minutes. This concerns me as if a vandal or other faulty edit is made, they could get knocked off the recent changes before anyone has the chance to catch them, and they may go by unnoticed unless someone actually digs through the recent changes to check old edits. Omega TyrantTyranitarMS.png 04:02, 1 December 2010 (EST)

I see your point.
In my defence, I did make sure to tick "minor" for them to make them hideable; and I don't have a bot to control the frequency of what are mostly small edits :( - Reboot (talk) 18:41, 2 December 2010 (EST)
It's good to see proper use of the minor edit function, though I myself don't hide minor edits from the recent changes, and I'm not sure if others hide them or not. So slowing down edit frequency would be a safer idea. Anyway, keep up the good work! Omega TyrantTyranitarMS.png 18:55, 2 December 2010 (EST)

A tip[edit]

{{D}} is the speedy delete template, which I think is more in line which what you're tagging. Toomai Glittershine Data Node 22:08, 3 December 2010 (EST)

Fair enough :) [I knew about that, but I tend to bias to the non-speedy version] - Reboot (talk) 22:11, 3 December 2010 (EST)

Obsolete images[edit]

To be sure, when you said that was the last of the bunch, did you mean that was the last of all the obsolete images and we're finally done getting rid of them, or the last of a specific group of them for now? Omega TyrantTyranitarMS.png 12:06, 7 December 2010 (EST)

The latter (I think I said "Batch" rather than "Bunch", even). That batch was, basically, "redundant Melee trophy images with the standard bg that weren't linked anywhere", with a few others mixed in. There's still:
  • 300+ images on Special:UnusedFiles alone - although some of those probably should be used, even if they currently aren't'
  • Inevitable duplicate images which are currently still linked but can go once they're tracked down; and
  • The extant Mario, DK, SSB & SSE Brawl trophy images that will become redundant once all of these have been cropped, saved as PNG & uploaded. More if Dany36 comes through with the rest.
Overall, definitely not the last obsolete images full-stop! - Reboot (talk) 12:22, 7 December 2010 (EST)
Aw damn, and I thought we were nearing completion o_O Omega TyrantTyranitarMS.png 12:33, 7 December 2010 (EST)

When editing moveset tables...[edit]

...why are you changing "forward smash" to "side smash" if the article's name is forward smash?

Also, it'd be nice if you changed .svgs into .pngs instead of changing Image: into File:. New users can intuitively understand what "Image:" does in wikicode, "File:" is not as obvious. On the other hand, .svgs that weren't part of the move from Wikia aren't rendered properly, so I'm attempting to get rid of all of them for consistency. Toomai Glittershine ??? 16:31, 16 December 2010 (EST)

  1. Because I hadn't noticed the page had been moved away from the official term.
  2. I can change them as I go if you want, but there's no way to get SVGs to render properly?
- Reboot (talk) 17:12, 17 December 2010 (EST)
  1. Yeah, the move was kind of recent, I noticed that its name was at odds with the other attack article names while fixing the attacks template.
  2. Seeing as the problem was reported to the guy that owns the domain back in late September, I'd think that any fixable problem would have been sorted by now. Toomai Glittershine ??? 17:35, 17 December 2010 (EST)

Trophy orgins have symbols now?[edit]

What up with that?MegaTron1XD:p 21:58, 30 December 2010 (EST)

They do in Brawl, if you never noticed. Miles (talk) 22:07, 30 December 2010 (EST)
Yup.

Amazing man[edit]

Tireless_Contributor_Barnstar.gif

Just wow.MegaTron1XD:p 00:37, 16 January 2011 (EST)

Well...[edit]

You can debate if it should be "by character" or "by characters". It could be "[List of X attacks] by character" (meaning the list is, most importantly, sorted by character) or "List of [X attacks by characters]" (meaning the list is only about characters' attacks and not something else like items, which may have their own list just below). Toomai Glittershine ??? The Metroid 18:10, 1 February 2011 (EST)

Oh, and some comments on the rest of your edits to those pages. I don't see how a list is improved if you break it into multiple parts; just because two attacks happen to be of the same "class" (tilt, aerial, etc) doesn't mean they should be grouped "closer together" than any other two elements of the list. I also found the use of ampersands extremely disorienting, since for one we rarely use them on the wiki in general when Mr. Game & Watch isn't involved. Finally, the hyphen in "sweet spot-only" is confusing (it links "spot" and "only" closer than "sweet and "spot"); it should be one of "sweetspot-only", "sweetspot only", or "sweet spot only". Copypasta edits[edit]

In the future, double check each edit to make sure it has the desired effect. You left some ]s hanging in awkward places. Miles (talk) 20:20, 3 February 2011 (EST)

Ah, whoops. Sorry. - Reboot (talk) 20:23, 3 February 2011 (EST)

Regarding Template:Infobox Character[edit]

Please don't apply this newfangled version until there's been discussion about it. I have a major problem with including the head icons as they are, and would like to see consensus one way or the other before altering the status quo. Miles (talk) 16:40, 12 February 2011 (EST)

But there's no variables specifically for the head icons, they reuse the name= and game= variables - so they can be easily removed and cleanly with a single edit to the template if consensus goes against - and there are other changes that are worth doing (and that you're not objecting to). - Reboot (talk)

I keep seeing a big block of whitespace (highlighted in blue here) on all the pages where you've been editing. Do you know what's causing it? Miles (talk) 11:53, 13 February 2011 (EST)

Additionally, there are several other negative effects being caused right now, as can be seen here, here. Can you fix these as well?

And one more thing... generally, templates such as cleanup go above hatnotes like disambig2. Miles (talk) 11:58, 13 February 2011 (EST)

Well, I had a whole blank line between the disambig note and the Infobox by mistake on a Bowser. I don't know what's going on with that Meta Knight example though - it ONLY happens for me in "IE8 compatibility view", not in Firefox, Opera or IE8-proper. - Reboot (talk) 18:20, 13 February 2011 (EST)
...I use IE7. Anyways, you still haven't addressed the issues on Bowser and Link's pages, among others. Miles (talk) 19:22, 13 February 2011 (EST)
Fixed Bowser & Link (The mislink in the "alternate form" field on Bowser was a slight lack of foresight in the infobox coding on my part. Link showing the Special Stages symbol was because there was other stuff in the name field besides "Link"). What are the other ones that are actively borked? - Reboot (talk) 21:45, 13 February 2011 (EST)
If I spot anymore, I'll let you know. Miles (talk) 22:43, 13 February 2011 (EST)

Ganondorf, Kirby, Zelda, Meta Knight, and Snake for Brawl characters, Captain Falcon for Melee ones. It seems to be the FA template causing the space. Miles (talk) 23:10, 13 February 2011 (EST)

The term "percents"[edit]

I know you're trying to make articles less jargon-y, but I'd think even the noobiest of noobs would know that the word "percents" means "damage percentages". I don't think it's a worthwhile change beyond maybe the first mention in an article. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Undirigible 11:29, 14 February 2011 (EST)

Sure, I can drop the repeated "damage...", but "percents" especially bugs me since it isn't a word in the way it's being used. No objection to me changing those to "percentages" while I'm editing the pages anyway? - Reboot (talk) 11:32, 14 February 2011 (EST)
"Percantages" is better. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Eggster 11:34, 14 February 2011 (EST)

Welcome back[edit]

I thought you left the Wiki over that infobox argument o_O Regardless, it's nice to see that you're editing here again. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 22:03, 23 June 2011 (EDT)

I did stop to cool off, but I never intended to stay away permanently, hence no "I QUIT!"-type post :). [I actually stayed away longer than I intended because I was busy "in RL"] - Reboot (talk) 10:47, 25 June 2011 (EDT)

Recent Infobox Character General edits[edit]

While it's not a bad idea to make templates more foolproof, the edits you just made reduce the modularity that makes infoboxes useful. Generally we shouldn't have to edit a template to change a piece of info on a character's page. For things like the special moves template it's fine because it's used on more than one page and consistency is important, but infoboxes should probably be non-dependent on having cases in the code. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Celeritous 10:35, 25 June 2011 (EDT)

This isn't throughout the template though - it only applies to the Smash Bros. games field, and which is easier for when the SSB4 characters are announced - one edit to the template, with consistent formatting, or 40-odd edits to the individual pages which - as you acknowledge with the "foolproof" comment - will probably be screwed up in several cases [especially since there's dozens of ways to render that field - combinations of initials (SSB/SSBM/SSBB/SSB4), spelled out (Super Smash Bros. Brawl, etc) or last word/"64" suffix (SSB64/Melee/Brawl); italics/no italics; separate lines/commas and a few other versions I forget offhand. And for truly minor characters, there's still a {{{games}}} variable to specify with on the individual pages. - Reboot (talk) 10:47, 25 June 2011 (EDT)
I didn't see that there was still a default case; not having one was the main reason I was complaining. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Victorious 10:51, 25 June 2011 (EDT)
