Origin
Rathalos is a recurring monster from the Monster Hunter series. There are a number of Rathalos subspecies, and the one in Smash somewhat resembles the Hardcore Rathalos variant. Rathalos first appeared in the original Monster Hunter, and its description in Monster Hunter 3 states that "Rathalos descend on invaders from the sky, attacking with poison claws and breath of fire," which matches its attack patterns in Smash.
Rathalos Blademaster Armor also appear in the Monster Hunter series as something that can be made after gathering enough parts to make the set. The armor is modeled after the Rathalos's appearance
Trivia
- Rathalos is the first character in the series to appear both as an Assist Trophy and a stage boss.
