The Killing Edge (キルソード, Kill Sword) is an item that is scheduled to appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch. It was revealed in the August 8 Nintendo Direct.

Operation

As a battering item, the Killing Edge will bolster the player's power, as well as potentially add some options to their game via throwing. If the user attacks while the blade glows red, the amount of damage and knockback they will inflict is doubled. During these hits, the sound effect from the Fire Emblem GBA titles will play.

Origin

The Killing Edge is a sword that recurrently appears across the Fire Emblem Series. The Killing Edge substantially boosts the likelihood of its wielder landing a Critical Hit. In the Fire Emblem series, a critical hit causes a weapon to deal substantially more damage than normal. The Killing Edge's appearance in Smash does not strictly resemble a specific appearance, but it takes the most inspiration from its appearance in Fire Emblem Awakening
