The Super Leaf is an item from the Mario universe that appears in Super Smash Bros. 4. It gives the player raccoon ears and a tail. The item's effects are currently unknown, but given its properties from the originating series, it will likely lower a character's gravity and falling speed.

Origin

Super Leaves first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3 as a power-up item and has returned in Super Mario 3D Land and numerous games since. It gave Mario and Luigi the ability to transform into Raccoon Mario and Raccoon Luigi respectively, which gave them the ability to fly by waving their tail. It also allowed the player to slow decent, also by waving the tail, and to attack enemies by swinging their tail. The design of the leaf itself is based around their recent reappearance in Mario games. Its current function in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is currently unknown, but has been confirmed to transform the player to have raccoon ear and tail like Raccoon Mario.
