The Bottled Fairy is an item appearing in Super Smash Bros. 4.

Origin

Fairies first appeared in The Legend of Zelda and almost every Zelda since as a method of regaining health. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past introduced the ability to capture fairies in bottles, and many Zelda games since have also allowed this, which will cause the fairy to be released automatically should Link lose all his hearts.

The design of the fairy in Super Smash Bros. 4 originates from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and some later Zelda games have also retained this design of fairies. These fairies come in a variety of colors; usually blue, yellow, or pink. Typically in Zelda games, pink fairies are the type of fairies found that can heal Link and can be captured. In Super Smash Bros. 4, the fairy is blue rather than pink. The design of the bottle, however, comes from Skyward Sword.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

In Brawl a Fairy is an available sticker.

The Bottled Fairy is stated to be able to heal a character, even if they have over 100%. It is unclear if the Fairy can fully heal a character with this much damage, however.

Trivia

The reveal pic of the day for this item is a reference to the game Super Mario 3D World, in which Bowser captures several fairy princesses inside bottles.
