Defeating one of the bosses results in a bad ending where the opposite side seizes control.

The Final Battle is the final area in World of Light unlocked after defeating Dharkon in The Dark Realm. In this area, Galeem and Dharkon are fighting for full control, but are also seeking to destroy the fighters, creating a three-way battle that decides the fate of the universe.

There are no new bosses in the Final Battle. Rather, the area faces the player against Master Hand twice, Crazy Hand twice, Galeem, Dharkon, and both Galeem and Dharkon. The Galeem & Dharkon fight lets the player choose any three currently available fighters and pits them against the sub-world bosses before fighting them.

Trivia

  • Masahiro Sakurai has claimed that Bayonetta and Palutena were the only two characters other than Kirby that could have feasibly survived Galeem's initial attack in the opening to World of Light.[1] Those two are also the final fighter unlocks required for the true ending the player encounters in a regular playthrough of the mode.
