MELEE-FC10R Legacy was a Super Smash Bros. Melee and Project M national tournament held by the Ship of Fools group during August 12th-14th, 2012, in South Bend, Indiana. It featured the return of the MELEE-FC series after 2007's MELEE-FC Diamond, and was considered one of the first national Project M tournaments. It also featured singles and doubles for Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This tournament was featured in Episode 8 of the The Smash Brothers.
Rulesets[edit]
Melee[edit]
- Singles starters: Final Destination, Battlefield, Dream Land, Yoshi's Story, Fountain of Dreams
- Doubles starters: Final Destination, Battlefield, Dream Land, Yoshi's Story, Pokémon Stadium
- Singles counterpicks: Brinstar, Rainbow Cruise, Mute City, Pokémon Stadium
- Doubles counterpicks: Brinstar, Rainbow Cruise, Mushroom Kingdom II, Jungle Japes, Corneria, Kongo Jungle N64
- Standard 1-2-2-1 stage striking was used. After each player's first win of the set, that player may ban 2 stages during counterpicking for the rest of the set. Stages banned this way are banned for both players. No stage may be played twice per set.
- If both stocks and percent are tied, a 1-stock 3-minute rematch is played on the same stage.
- Continuing infinites past 350% is banned.
- A rule explicitly stated that the Master Hand glitch was banned.
Brawl[edit]
- Meta Knight is banned.
- Starter stages: Battlefield, Final Destination, Lylat Cruise, Smashville, Pokémon Stadium, Yoshi's Island, Castle Siege
- Counterpick stages: Halberd, Delfino Plaza, Pokémon Stadium 2, Norfair, Frigate Orpheon, Brinstar, Rainbow Cruise
- After each game, the winner may ban 1 stage during counterpicking for the rest of the set. It was not specified whether this banned the stage for the winner as well. No stage may be played twice per set.
- If both stocks and percent are tied, a 1-stock 3-minute rematch is played on the same stage. This also applies to sacrificial KOs if they cause a simultaneous KO.
- Stalling is banned; continuing infinites past 350% is treated as stalling.
Smash 64[edit]
- Starter stages: Kongo Jungle, Hyrule Castle, Dream Land
- Counterpick stages: Peach's Castle, Saffron City (the latter in doubles only)
- There was no stage banning during counterpicking or any rule against playing a stage more than once per set.
- The ruleset did not specify what occurred in the event of a simultaneous KO ending the game.
Project M demo 2.1[edit]
- Starter stages: Battlefield, Final Destination, Smashville, Dream Land, Fountain of Dreams, Yoshi's Story, Pokémon Stadium 2
- Counterpick group 1: Final Destination, Smashville, Green Hill Zone, Pictochat
- Counterpick group 2: Battlefield, Pokémon Stadium 2, Pokémon Stadium, Dracula's Castle
- Counterpick group 3: Fountain of Dreams, Yoshi's Story, Yoshi's Island (Brawl), WarioWare Inc.
- Counterpick group 4: Dream Land, Rumble Falls, Skyworld, Skyloft
- Counterpick group 5: Rainbow Cruise, Halberd, Brinstar, Metal Cavern, Pirate Ship
- The remaining 20 stages are banned.
- Stage striking is done in 1-2-2-1-1-2 order. No stage may be played twice per set. The stage selection screen is modded to arrange the stages into the above groups.[1]
- Regarding stage banning during counterpicking, the ruleset mentioned two slightly contradictory paragraphs:
- One stated that after each game, the winner bans one counterpick group for the rest of the set.
- The other stated that after the first game, both players ban one counterpick group for the rest of the set, but the bans only apply to the opponent and both players may ban the same group.
- The two versions are roughly equivalent for best-of-3 sets, but not best-of-5 sets.
- If a sacrificial KO occurs with both players on their last stock, the initiator wins.
